Game Thread: Sox vs Twinkies 4-21-06
Harry Chappas replied to Capn12's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) ESPN made a good point when they said the Yankees have figured out that the best way to beat Santana is to up his pitch count and get into the bullpen. Not that it's a lock by any stretch, but at least you don't face Satan for nine innings. I have been saying this for years. Sit on the fastball and take three change-ups for strikes and sit down. I do not think hacking away is the way to go. I know this is easier said then done but the guy almost throws a perfect game at us all of the time. Let's hope this changes tonight. I think he tires easy but we don't even make him work. Odds makers have the Sox as a slight favorite. -
Instead of 10-5 we really should be 14-1 maybe 13-2, I'm just sayin. Oh well, I'll take .667 ball.
-
To many pitching changes for this inning. What is the status of the game please?
-
Can anyone do Play-by-play for the 9th? Please.
-
What happened? Hit I suppose, the no hitter is gone??????????

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) That's twice. I should ban your ass. I dare you to. Please, just for the next hour or so. Kind of like Crede forced to cut the hair.

Any chance of someone giving some PBP??? I'd rather scroll through this to get some insite. It is also less screen space at work to make it look like I am being productive.

Anderson not first to get off so slowly

I sat in centerfield Friday. He freezes on balls hit right at him like Rowand did, maybe that is just the position. I think he also plays to deep. Neither of which I am any more qualified than Tim Raines to address. As for his time at the plate Friday. He looked like a pithcer. Mack should be playing center for a week. KW should have some feelers out there...... I can live with Pods struggling as he looks off, same as Uribe. Anderson looks clueless and worse than that, helpless. -

Didn't see the game but I think our bullpen by the end of the year can be filthy. Cotts, McCarthy, Thorton and Jenks have stuff and all fairly young. Am I shining my rose colored glasses and drinking the Kool-Aid. Jenks and Thorton seem to get dinked to death which evens out over time. If i didn't read the reviews on thorton I would think he is the cats pajamas. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) He had a 3 run lead. If that's too much pressure, which I don't think it is, they have room for him in Charlotte. The pressure stems from the centerfielder dropping a pop up. -

I am leaving work, another s***ty day off to the train and see the end. Good, let's hope for the best. COme oh Jon. Rock On Cheers. -
Lack of execution all day long and some questionable managing. Cotts in the 8th would've been good. Where are Jenks or Thorton? Cotts and Politte do not need to go more then one inning with Thorton and McCarthy.
-
Who is pitching?
-
I'd like to see Pods try and bunt for a hit.
-
Cotts should have started this inning. Hafner seems to be a streaky and Ozzie may have gotten him hot. I do not like this at all I feel it will be 5-3 in a hurry.
-
Cotts/Politte/ Jenks --- 2 games in 4 days there is no reason why they shouldn't have come in. Boone Logan is the last man in the pen, there is no reason whatsoever to bring him in the 8th when leading by one to face one of the best hitters in baseball. Thorton pitched well Sunday and if not one of those three he should have been in there. Also Logan pitched well yesterday but threw two innings. He should not have been in there. Oh, and we have not not take the bat oout of Thome's hands EVER. Iguchi also had two hits today. If you want to move Pods over have him steal, bunting was stupid right there.

What happened?

What did Mack do?

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) When you said that I thought they scored and made it 3-1, asshat. Me too, so it is 2-1 still and it was a 3-1 count by the Count.
-
Just a thought not bagging here but do you think Mack could push Pods to late inning runner/platoon guy........ Mack can do as good except run and his defense is much better then Pods. Food for thought???
-
I think Garcia has the old "dead arm" maybe from going hard at the WBC then cutting back. I think he will be fine. I also think we win this game.
-
Guillen gets a tad upset with Iguchi

From the highlights that I saw, Cintron looked to have the range of Ray Durham going up the middle which is not saying much, again I only saw the highlights. -
let's talk about this horrid radio tandem
Harry Chappas replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Farmer is an opinion thing like Hawk. He is not great but he works. Putting him at PBP was a huge mistake. Has North spoken of this since they have gone on the air? Has he been silent on the issue? How about Mack and Harry? The SCORE is a very poorly run operation. The station in my mind is unlistenable.
