  1. Prior must want a ton of dough look at like $10-$15M / year in arbitration. He only needs to prove he is as good as Carrie Woods and he has a shot.
  2. The craps dealer verifed this.
  3. I thought now that Canellis (sp?) was there that was what his role would be. I guess some things are to obvious. The SCORE does have horrendous personalities, Mike Murhpy is terrible.
  4. Hendry loves the French Jacque, Pierre and Marquis.
  5. Bruce Levine is an annoying dick. He has no sense of humor and really feels that the cubs are the best organization in baseball. Jim Hendry can do no wrong, the excuses he gives are incredible. He covers the White Sox because he has to but his passion is for the cubs. It must have been painful to have to cover the Sox this past season and killing him to have to cover them still on a greater scale than the cubs. His love for the cubbies is sickening. Even cub fans are down on them now but not Bruce. The token White Sox conversation makes me sick. The fact he is allowed to host a show on the radio is a travesty to ones ability to hear. What if the cub traded Pie, Patterson and Ohman for Vazquez, then flipped Prior for Tejada. Wouldn't this make sense????? I like Tejada but I like the fact that we could lose a starter for the entire season next year and still be in great shape. I would rather have six starters that all have ACE potential then having to rely on Tim Redding. Sorry if my bruce bashing was too much but he never speaks of the Sox in a positive way as he does with the cub. Indifference is his Sox coverage. He sucks.
  6. My calculation is that 22,000 a game for ticket plan folks, presale, walk ups etc. = 1.8M I do not think we will have a crowd below 22K. Sell-outs for all May 19 - End of season Friday, Saturday and Sunday 18,000 per game 30 games = .540M 35K for weekday games against Angels (3), Stl (3) 13,000 per game over 22K for 6 games = .078M Sell-outs Opening Day, 4th of July, Day before 4th of July, 3 Yankee games = 18K for these 6 games = .108 M Poof our attendance will be 2,526,422 Average crowd 31,190 This is what I think is a realistic view.
  7. Is Lester the guy the cubs used to have????? If so Reed for him seems a bit tilted toward Boston.
  8. Watching these games the more I hate Buck and McCarver. They dwelled on the Dye thing as if it could have been strike three. It wasn't as if Wheeler had good stuff geez. Also Iguchi looked safe and they kind of gloss over it. They also never for a moment speak as if the ball may have hit the ground on the AJ thing. Also The LF on the AJ ball never had his back to the infield until the last moment. It looked as Rowand says it was either going to be caught or a home run. McCarver kept going on about how he thought he was right and to a degree he was but I also got Rowand's point. They are brutal. Ya that taste is gone Tim. You would think that the Sox were a minor league time from hearing this. Any compliments seem forced. Konerko homered because Dye cheated, very little credit to the fact he looked for a pitch, got it, and didn't miss hit.
  9. QUOTE(TheHawkaroo @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) This is not a bad idea. However, if we don't trade Garland now then he goes into FA and we get nothing for him. So why not take a gamble on McCarthy (Who I think will have a good year given the chance) and try to get something for Garland while you can. I think Kenny will just sit back and wait with Jon, make it known that he might be available but you don't have to get rid of him. If there is an offer he can't refuse then make the trade, but worst case you can't move him, oh well he pitches another year for us or you move him at the deadline. He may cost $9M next year that is why he will be traded.
  10. A couple of things on this. Dan Patrick was on and said Tejada for Prior is a joke and Baltimore would be getting ripped off. My feeling in the baseball world is that Mark Prior's star is beginning to dim. The best part of the show was when Levine called the Dodgers losers. Silvy responds stating he is a die hard cub fan but would not consider the cubs much better than the dodgers. Levine absolutly loves Hendry and the cubs. He makes my ears bleed yet tehy run him out there.
  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) That was Charles Haeger. Owens had continued to play after he was added. Owens was still there... Looking at the leagues homepage, it appears that they may be in the playoffs right now. http://www.lvbp.com/ I can't read spanish, but I see the word playoff. And if they're not about to finish up with their playoffs... Let's be honest here, it's 4 days until Christmas. With all the stories you've heard about Venezuela, would you want to spend the Holidays there? f*** no. You'd go home to be with your family and hope you don't get carjacked on the way to the airport. Not if I could possibly spend it with Joey Cora and Ozzie Guillen......
  12. What is Brad Penny's situation? I do not follow the NL and thought he was up and down and injury prone to a degree but what is the money situation, could he go to the pen? I think Garland will be dealt and signed by that team as part of a blockbuster deal. The team that trades for him will not do so as a one year stopgap. Remember if he is traded and not resigned, they get two first round picks most likely.
  13. Joey Cora is the manager, didn't know that. It says the Sox are not happy he left the season early. Has this been posted anywhere and if so where? Any reasoning? This was in the Trib.
  14. Tomorrow's headlines; "White Sox cure cancer"
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) Are those the numbers they stated? 4, 5.5 and 5.5? Or is that a guess? Sox press release
  16. 3yr $15M, seems kind of low to me. He must like it here. $4M this year $5.5M the next two. Thome makes more this season. Great deal.
  17. I was reading in PHT about the thought of Danks from the Rangers. There seemed to be a good vibe when we drafted his younger brother that he is not going to sign but hoped we would take him in the upcoming years. If we did trade for his brother could we not draft him next year and sign him before the 2007 draft or is this just JUCO players? What are the parameters? I thought we could do this with a Junoir in college but so could everyone else. I guess I am just looking to see if there is anything to this? Two Danks and Jenks makes for a-lot of K's.
  18. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) So if I am in New York with DirecTV, will I be able to get the games next year on Comcast Sports Net Chicago? I'm a little confused. If you have the DirecTV baseball package.
  19. QUOTE(LDF @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) and i will say this, in most of all the trades that the sox's have made, most of these beat writers, who have far more access to the baseball scouts, managers, gm and owners have acknowledge that the sox overpaid at the time. hind sight is one thing to make a judgement call, but we need to look at the talent at the time. Of these beat writers, scouts, managers, gm's and owners how many have won a World Series? How many recreated a team in one season and won the World Series? How many prod along and never progress? We are getting almost $30M from other teams to field a team. KW works well with other GM's and both teams benefit. The Brewers, Yanks, Arizona, Philadelphia, Rockies, Mariners, Oakland, Anaheim, Mets, Rangers, and Orioles. These are some of the teams we have traded with to field our teams over the last few years and teams that give us money for players. The mode of KW trades are prospects for cash and players, it is that simple. Organizations like the cubs, redsox and yankees will take a risk on huge contract because they have money to burn. KW will not burn money. He will be paying Vazquez what Paul Byrd and Esteban Loiaza are making next year. In order to do this, he had to give up Chris Young. For every Royce Ring and Ryan Wing there is a Lance Broadway and Sean Tracey right around the corner. A year or so back, Chris Young was Anthony Webster and Gio Gonzalez was Chris Honel. I have given up on crying about lost prospects. Tim Hummel, Anthony Webster, and Ryan Wing are where......well two are or were back withe the Sox and the other is free to be had. We draft 60-70 players a year, how many pan out? I'll take a shot on Vazquez and his 6 years of MLB experience over a guy that had a great HALF year in AA.
  20. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) What ever you guys do...Don't tell TLAK that David Caruso left NYPD Blue...He'll never forgive ABC. SON OF A b****!!!! The first season just started on TNT, he leaves....god damnit! Ruined my day. Where is my KW voodoo doll.
  21. BUT WE LOST GIO GONZALEZ AND CHRIS YOUNG!!!!! AND DAMASO MARTE AND LUIS VIZCAINO!!!!!
  22. Imagine how deep we would be and the potential trade we could pull off if we still had that Webster fellow (not the midget from the Alex Karris show either) in centerfield. Come on. For every John Smoltz there are a hundred Scott Ruffcorn's. I will say this I trust Dave Wilder and Kenny Williams to understand their farm system.
  23. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) I don't know if this has been posted, but it looks like the D-Backs will pay $8 million: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/20...s-vazquez_x.htm So the Yankees, Philles and D/Backs are giving us almost $30M to field a compeitive team???? Amazing. At $7.5M a year this is a great deal. I am sorry Willie Mays Jr. had to go. I find it somewhat interesting that Young and Rowand are gone but Anderson is still here. I like Wilder and think he knows what he is doing.
  24. Garland was more major league ready when he came up then McCarthy is now and how many people tried to run him out of town. McCarthy may be ready and may pitch well but if we do not need him to why should we use him. The five guys in front of him are better at this point. One more year in the minors is one more year we have him on the cheap.
  25. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Yea!! And maybe we can take back Paul's contract and send his ass also since he did the same thing. :rolly Didn't Konerko want to resign last offseason and the Sox made him earn it. Then when he earned it he played the FA card. This was all the Sox fault but I do not fault either. Jon Garland should test free agency. Unless KW offered 4/$48M there is no way he should sign. Although if he gets hurt next year, he could be in trouble. Now if he goes 3/$30M he gets his lifetime of security and can hit the open market at 30 like Furcal did. I think they will settle at 2 yr $18M.
