  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) A real estate group. I always thought the group that ran the team ran the parking, thus parking could be purchased through the team. I would venture to guess that as the parking revenue goes up, so does the cut the White Sox get.
  2. Who has higher trade value Anderson or Rowand???? Who is cheaper???? Who has the higher ceiling????? Teams on budgets may give up more for Anderson than Rowand. I am not exactly sure you will be guaranteed a greater return on Rowand. The Yankees will because they can waste money but a team like Florida will want the cheaper option with the higher ceiling which I think is Anderson. There is risk on the Florida side on this. A risk the Yankees would not take. Now the Phillies are in the middle of the two as far as money goes.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) They don't get 100% of that revenue as the Sox don't run the parking. They don't even own the lots. Who owns the lots?
  4. I can't get enough WS emblazzened stuff. Christ I spent $10 for the Division Champs shirt yesterday and an ALCS promo shirt. I feel like a girl with the shopping I am doing.
  5. This guy is on the money with everything he writes. He actually understands sports and fans. He is one of very few.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 06:08 AM) I actually think if the Dodgers are desperate enough, and you don't know what McCourt's feeling right now, they could offer him 5 years with a no trade clause. They really worry me now when it comes to Paulie. I still think he's gonna end up with around a 65/5 deal from somewhere though. Matsui's contract is probably set the market for him, and he'll definitely want more salary wise. I think 5 years will scare NL clubs away as the DH option makes sense in Paul's case ina couple of years as well as to get him days off.
  7. That would be Furcal. Although I think they may want to move Iguchi from second as he is an injury waiting to happen on the doubleplay. He could be a good DH option.
  8. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) does anyone else feel that 4/52 is shockingly (almost insultingly) low in terms of years/total money $13M/yr is probably right what he deserves. I would rather scatter these funds to lock up Garland, Creded and AJ long term but they need to keep a big bat in the middle of the lineup. I think this is as high as they go. He is a one tool player, power that is it. I just hope this does not linger.
  9. She'll get 15 months and be out and have custody of the two children she didn't try to kill. Why is adoption not an issue for so many people?
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) To add.. my sisters mother in law has had pits all her life. My brother in law grew up with at least a dozen of them. Never an issue. Luck of the draw. Any dog will attack, IMO. Hell.. my daughter in law has a beagle that's attacked her twice!! Can't wait till she brings home the new baby in a month. :headshake I had a beagle that bite me twice when he cornered a possum and I tried to drag him away. He also snapped at kids, He Gone. My aunt took him, bit her three times. I got him from a shelter and was probably abused. He was an ok dog overall (he did pull the turkey off the table, we were done with it). He was retired a few months back, old age got him. I have a 110lb Choclate Lab now greatest dog ever. We got him from a rescue place and is about 10 years old. He simply mauls (in a good way) people. I find it kind of funny, he is old, let him do his thing. He did go after the neighbor's black lab and decked him. Good protector on noise and appearence demeanor, over-all though, my 2 year takes him out witout a problem. Any dog can have an issue the thing with 'Pits' that has been brought up is that they have the instinct to maul. The instinct of my dog would be to grab hold and not let go which would suck but you would still be ok. Pits have the ability to do serious damage which makes them an issue.
  11. Contrearas is a FA after next season. I think he is the guy they gamble on letting walk. I would build this team around Garcia, Buerhle, and Garland. I think Garland has the most upside. I would think 4yr $36M is what he will ask for with money coming in the year Freddy is off the books $7M, 9, 9, 11. In arbitration I think he gets Clement money. Jon, AJ and Crede need to be locked up long-term.
  12. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) Between the Sun-Times pullout sections and the World Series program, I don't feel like I need any other magazines. Tomorrow's 46 page Sun-Times pullout should just about complete the collection for me. Thanks for the heeads up on the Times pull-out. I have all of the Trib stuff, their Sunday Commerative addition was ok. There is a Street & Smith book that I have along with SI and the Trib. Look this week for the weekly publications.
  13. My long term thoughts for the White Sox would be to build a parking structure and develop land currently used for parking. The land they own around the park is a friggin goldmine especially if they can gobble up the land to the southeast of the park along Wentworth. This stop will eliminate some parking, ME FOR SURE, but I park in Canaryville so it does not matter. This was announced a couple of months back in a promo flyer sent out by Jesse Jackson Jr.
  14. The Angels entire team will be Latin players in no time. Sciosia (sp?) will resign if this happens as there is no chance to play good fundamental baseball with Manny on this team.
  15. Don't Frank, Carl and Konerko need to be signed before something like December 10th or they can not resign until May 1st. I know arbitration (neither Frank or Carl will be offered this, Konerko will) plays a role in this as well but I think Frank's situation would have to be settled well before Paul's would have to be.
  16. Watch Field of Dreams. As to not sound like the biggest girl (sorry girls) alive if you like baseball and are a fan of the White Sox, this movie just bacame a whole lot better. There is a satisfaction in watching this and knowing your team is the best and did it in as grand a style as possible.
  17. When the final out/batter was recorded in each game. Game 1 tying run on deck Game 2 walk-off homer Game 3 winning run at plate Game 4 winning run at plate If this is boring, you are just showing some moronic media bias. I do beleive we blow it out of porportion but this shows that the game is secondary to the stars and media perception of the event. Every inning of this series was tense, every f'ing inning.
  18. QUOTE(southsider17 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) That's one reason I doubt it will be in Beverly. People here are already trying to crack down on the drunken revelry from the St. Pat's celebration. Abouts where are you? I'm at 91st and Winchester. I know I'm being nit-picky but it's "Beverly Area Planning Association". Mind if I ask who? Gotta love BAPA.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) Levine kept being a real jackass on air. It sort of went like -- Levine kept asking over and over and over what was the programming schedule for the next day, and Dolgin told him the schedule, and Levine kept asking. And then, after awhile, Levine goes, "I don't like how that's scheduled. That's odd." Then, Levine sort of accused Dolgin of being the one who made the "poor" scheduling; and Dolgin, at the end, says, "Bruce, I don't think on air is the place to talk about it." And Levine kept on pouring fuel into the fire. It got real -- akward, like I said. But yeah, Dolgin impressed me a lot there -- he handled himself very professionally, while Levine was a real jackass. I heard that it was about 12:15 Friday night (Saturday morning). Dolgin was very impressive the way he handled that. I was never a big fan of his but he has gotten better. His handling of Levine was awesome. Bruce looked like a complete idiot and Dolgin's handling of the matter made Levine look even worse. I must say I was on the fence until that point and his composure pushed me to his side. If not on WSCR he will land something he is getting better and better.
  20. QUOTE(HineyBird @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) Roy is due for a loss So are the White Sox.
  21. I do not think that Jenks is quite ready to throw back-to-back days unless his offspeed stuff is trusted. It is good enough he just needs the confidence. That being said his outing was much better than that of Wheeler, Qualls and Lidge. I think last night's conditions made it harder to get a feel for the ball. That was why I really liked Cliff's outing. Ozzie pointed out that the ball Bagwell hit was perfectly placed and is caught 90% of the time. Aaron had him shaded toward RF. The walk was BS and the Vix hat is the old, tip your hat to the guy. Lidge and Qualls gave up bombs and Wheeler couldn't throw a strike.
  22. The seats that will be sold at a greater rate are outfield. If the series goes six I will have every ticket for next season sold by attaching them with World Series tickets to friends that would go anyway. Basically I sold 5 27 game packages. I will be at games 1 and 6. It was easier to sell a ticket and 27 games for $800 then anything in box seats.
  23. Picked mine up last night row 11 down firstbase line in outfield 11th row.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) I dont understand why you dont get Ditka to throw out the first pitch. Maybe his 20 plus appearances at wrigley for take me out to the ballgame hinder him. Also what does he have to do with baseball? I like Bo I think he brings the mentality we need. I love Luis as well.
