  1. Why are we playing to lose?????
  2. How do you miss first base, ugh. WHY THE f***ING IS CONTREARAS BATTING ??????????????????????? THIS IS SAD MANAGING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I have a sad feeling that our offense is done for the day.
  4. Two strikes, three pitches not even close and then a fastball down the middle. Take him out of this thing with Widger. The magic of Widger from last year is history. First pitch pop out to third is pathetic. Well at least we will get a two out pinch hitter in the 6th. Any talk of Contrearas and the all-star game needs to stop right now. There more then 10 better pitchers than him right now.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) That 97 MPH pitch was not a slider. The next pitch he threw was more of a slider. The 97 MPH pitch was more of a cutter. Still, you don't see many 97 MPH cutters. OK, he started using a cutter, even better.....now he is using a 100MPH fastball, 97 MPH Cutter, 94 MPH Slider and a 87 MPH offspeed pitch. Teach him the knuckler and we may have something.
  6. It seems Jenks is really getting into that slider of his. He started to throw it against the Cardinals big fastball hitters last week and did so again Sunday and yesterday. If he gets this pitch over he will be devastating and hitters will have no chance. The funny thing was that it registered at 97 MPH and instead of just saying what a good/great pitch it was Joe Morgan rambles how the gun HAS to be wrong as he has never seen a 97 MPH slider. This post is more about the work he can do with this pitch. I think this was what got Ausmus to ground weakly into the DP Sunday and both guys yesterday. Last year it seemed in back to back days or when overworked Jenks would get hit a little. In the extra inning World Series game he went to this pitch and went 2 innings, I believe. If he throws strikes he is unhittable. Oh, and I like Matt Thorton even more if he throws strikes.
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) Unfortunately I think you are dead on. Especially with Barrett coming back I can see their club really getting up for this series. We won't have the luxury of Jim and Paulie in the lineup at the same time. Plus we get Garland and Javy going for us which could be scary. These are my thoughts exactly and why I posted in the Vazquez thread that Garland and Vazquez need to set the tone. With Barett back their line-up is complete and they are throwing their three best pitchers. With Nevin in left that line-up is not that bad if Pierre can do anything. Unlike the last month, they will not be giving games away.
  8. Friday and Saturday and next week will conclude the thoughts of Garland and Vazquez and if they can be depended on for the remainder of the season. Starts at cubs and home against Baltimore should give a very good idea if these guys can cut it. We should go 8-2, 7-3 at the worst of these games with each starter taking the ball twice. Our current big three then face Boston and New York.
  9. To make this post mean something you need to put up how many games we have lost when giving up 3 runs or less for the last two years. In total the question is which pitching is better last year or this year. We know the hitting is not even close. Also, in the two games against the Cards our pitchers jsut had to throw strikes. I see your point though. Not trying to put you down.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) "How dare the White Sox let Damaso Marte get a win in the World Series?" "Why on Earth would they risk letting the ever-talented Mark Buehrle get injured by throwing him out for a save?" "Ozzie is a hypocrite. He plays for small ball, but lets Podsednik -- the King of small ball!!! -- HIT A HOMERUN?!" My thought is that it was a rip job about the fans beating up Biggio's wife. He also was not given some sort of press pass or parking pass I believe.
  11. If Figgins were to go to Tampa would Fields for Figgins be fair. If Crede leaves, Figgins can move to third. For now, he platoons with Anderson and can really force the issue with Podsednik.
  12. I do think it is pretty s***ty timing by MLB to let him play aganist the White Sox. It just made sense to have sit for those three games it is not like there was any urgency to get this thing settled on their part. If he is not in the lineup nothing can happen. Now something can. MLB seems to have a very odd way of handling pitchers that throw at hitters. How does Randy Johnson get suspended for not hitting someone but Escobar and Padilla intentionally hit someone TWICE and it is not an issue?????
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) Ozzie was disrespected in public by Tracey. Ozzie has every right to do what he did. How so, I have yet to hear someone prove that Ozzie told Traqcy you have to hit Blaylock right now. We now know that was probably the case but only because Ozzie made a point of it. If Tracy hits DeRosa are we any the wiser???? If after the game Ozzie tells Tracy he is going to the minors in front of the team for not defending the team, this would do more than grandstanding in the dugout.
  14. What is the difference between Randy Johnson and Javier Vazquez????????? Randy Johnson defended a teammate and got tossed possibly costing his team the game. Vazquez was pitching like s*** and had nothing to lose after the 5th by hitting someone. Why not have him hit Blaylock and end his night anyway in the 7th????? I do not understand why Tracey was not left in there to hit the next guy. Why do we have to hit Blaylock??? Why not remove him drag him back to the clubhouse and berate him or wait until after the game if you want to prove a point ot the team. I find it hard to beleive that he was told to hit one guy or to hit someone was he t oexpect t oonly face one guy. s*** the guy is trying to stay in the majors I am sure he did not follow orders because he felt that was right. I expect Ozzie to smooth this over today and Tracey's thoguht to be heard. I think they were both wrong but Vazquez was the worse. Also why didn't Montero hit anyone its not like he had his good stuff going either.
  15. This is going ot get ugly. Did you hear the f*** you Padilla on tv??? He is looking like Zambrano with the cheering.
  16. I am sorry but podsednik looks at to many called third strikes he really is not a good baseball player.
  17. I don't care if lefties are hitting .800 off of him. With Gload and Pods out there put anderson in center to even if out. The 'D' could get ugly.
  18. I think there is a tremendous amount of over analysis on Jon Garland and Brian Anderson. Garland has been hit pretty good all season but he is eating innings. Vazquez and Garcia have been just as erratic and I believe they have done it with greater run support than Garland which has covered them to a degree. I believe the major issues that this teams needs to address which are larger then Anderson and Garland are: Juan Uribe's decline in both defense and offense. A .234 OBP are grounds for being released yet he is getting a free pass. As was pointed out in the game last night, his defense has been erratic of late. There are two people (Ozuna and Cintron) that can fill in for this slot. Scott Podesednik's defense is downright horrendous. This along with a .250 average are not helping this team at all.
  19. Prior may be back Sunday. Maddux and Zambrano got pushed up a day to face Houston. Makes sense cubs need to beat Houston more than the Tigers. 'Z' would've pitched Friday. ALSO Barrett's hearing is Friday and he may miss the next week (Det, Clev, Min). The Cubs may have everyone back after this. The cubs may go 1-6 if he misses 7 games and they face CC, Johan, Liriano and the Detroit staff in general without Barrett. We does miss Pulojs and Clemens though....... Go Cubs
  20. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:29 AM) YEAH! He's getting paid a LOT of money - how dare he be HUMAN and not make every single play we want him to??? I sure am glad I've never made any mistakes in my life, otherwise I might not have this moral high ground to stand upon and judge others! Come on those two cathes have to be made. The ball he dropped in Cleveland was worse. He is a below average leftfielder, who now is becoming a below average leadoff hitter. If you are going to get a hit every three games you better play defense. While I continue to ride him, I have never seen a player strike out looking more often then he does on pitches that are right down the middle.
  21. McCarthy looks pretty good here.....9th........
  22. Remember about this time last year in Texas. Jon got lit up in the 6th after rolling along. Huge game against this offense.
  23. The food at the stand alone brat & kosher dog stands seem undercooked and the onions are not really grilled but placed on the grill. They used to be oily. Maybe I need to look around a little more. Still like the beer though.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 04:30 AM) That is soooooo true.... Its one thing I hated about it when I used to listen to the score a lot... id drive to harper a 15-20 min drive and more than half the time it would be on commercials..... I actually think that with updates, traffic and what not there is less talk then this other stuff. There is no flow on that station because they are always breaking into something else. I can not stand that station and they killed the Sox for me as far as the radio goes. Ranger is pretty good though for pre and post, I just can not get into the radio tandem. Murphy, B&B are worthless. North is Ok. I actually like Mike & Mike and think MJH are very good but the commercials are to much here to. I liked Stern because there was 15 minutes of commercials but then a good 40 of content. Sports radio seems like 6 of adds, updates, traffic etc. and then 5 of content. Sports talk is just a filler for the endless commercials.
  25. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:42 AM) He was a hitting coach and a 1B coach in our organization about 10 years ago. Papa Jack! Ron Jackson Didn't the Sox want to trade for his kid????
