  1. How isn't the guy that had two kids with his daughter not the bigger issue here? How is this legal? Steve Dahl was going into this yesterday. The rape is bad enought but there is something more unsettling with the fathering of the daughter's kids.
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:36 PM) :uhoh Singleton does not have an excitable personality. He may be great, my point is this is not a breading ground, somebody more established should have been brought in.
  3. I like to listen to games on the radio. I am not a real big fan of DJ. I look at how bad the cubs radio braodcast is. It borders, no it is laughable. The SCORE is taking a risk by bringing in someone that is unproven. This should not happen in a major market like Chicago, especially with the medium (XM Radio) bringing in more potential listeners and fans. You can attract fans this way and I feel the SCORE is looking to get someone as cheap as they could. With Lyons and John you knew what you were getting. With Singleton you are completely blind and Farmer is not that strong to begin with. Farmer needs a good partner, Harrelson does not. This has nothing to do with how good of a person or player Singleton was. This has to do with the fact that games could be real hard to listen to because of this selection and that ticks me off. I really think this is not a point to just brush aside. This is the SCORE going on the cheap, as cheap as they could which is their history.
  4. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 12:07 PM) FYI for all those who get up in the morning simply to rip on the Score, Chris Singleton will not work for the Score. The Sox hired him. He is a White Sox employee. The team has the final say on all on-air candidates. He is a SCORE employee not a Sox employee. The Sox have a say in matter but not much. The SCORE pays the bills the Sox get the money.
  5. Wow, the SCORE shows again that if you work cheap enough, talent is not an issue (Murphy). Advertising money is all they care about. They can not go more then 10 minutes without a break. I am anxious to see how many "adds" are thrown out there during an inning. This Little Guys, Bueno Beef, Celozzi Ettleson pitch is brought to you by STATS Inc and Berland's House of Tools. Here is the 0-1 pitch brought to you by Brown's Chicken and Wings. and the 1-1 pitch for tickets call 864-1000. here is the 1-2 and he strikes him out courtesy of Terminx. With one out in the first inning which is being brought ot you by Miller Brewing here is the number two man in the lineup sponsored by.... Wow Kittle, Cangelosi and what not must ahve wanted to actually be paid. This is a disgrace and now the Sox will be really tough on the ears. As good of a guy that he is, he has no experience whatsoever.
  6. The Tribune yesterday reported that due to raises for current players, the Twins have no cash to spend and Batista is their 3B and they are basically done. If they traded for Koskie, Lohse would've had to have been moved and they would have to go with two rookie starters.
  7. My two cents 1. KW is showing with money what you can get. Last year was when he earned everything and made his job easy. I will say this, the guy (Wilder?) giving him advice as far as minor league players is incredible look at Jenks, Cotts, Uribe, etc. He also gives up guys that are not the world beaters they were thought of Anthony Webster. 2. Shurholtz has Cox. That is a huge help. 3. Beane, I hate him but gotta admit he wins. 4. Theo and Cashman have the money, like Hendry. They are on a different level like KW this offseason, riskier moves are easier to make.
  8. It is very easy for Ozzie to not play either of these guys in the spring knowing all they have is an outside shot. By quitting on Cora they did quit partially on the organization. It was not the organization that said they were fine with it. It could just be Cora being upset as it was his team to manage. Ozzie controls their opportunities in the spring, we will see what kind of shot they have. Don't be so sure this is not an organizational thing. How much baseball experience does Owens have? He needs all of the AB's he can get. How long has Chuck been throwing the kunckleball? He needs all of the innings he can get. I understand their points but the organization has ideas too.
  9. Prior must want a ton of dough look at like $10-$15M / year in arbitration. He only needs to prove he is as good as Carrie Woods and he has a shot.
  10. The craps dealer verifed this.
  11. I thought now that Canellis (sp?) was there that was what his role would be. I guess some things are to obvious. The SCORE does have horrendous personalities, Mike Murhpy is terrible.
  12. Hendry loves the French Jacque, Pierre and Marquis.
  13. Bruce Levine is an annoying dick. He has no sense of humor and really feels that the cubs are the best organization in baseball. Jim Hendry can do no wrong, the excuses he gives are incredible. He covers the White Sox because he has to but his passion is for the cubs. It must have been painful to have to cover the Sox this past season and killing him to have to cover them still on a greater scale than the cubs. His love for the cubbies is sickening. Even cub fans are down on them now but not Bruce. The token White Sox conversation makes me sick. The fact he is allowed to host a show on the radio is a travesty to ones ability to hear. What if the cub traded Pie, Patterson and Ohman for Vazquez, then flipped Prior for Tejada. Wouldn't this make sense????? I like Tejada but I like the fact that we could lose a starter for the entire season next year and still be in great shape. I would rather have six starters that all have ACE potential then having to rely on Tim Redding. Sorry if my bruce bashing was too much but he never speaks of the Sox in a positive way as he does with the cub. Indifference is his Sox coverage. He sucks.
  14. My calculation is that 22,000 a game for ticket plan folks, presale, walk ups etc. = 1.8M I do not think we will have a crowd below 22K. Sell-outs for all May 19 - End of season Friday, Saturday and Sunday 18,000 per game 30 games = .540M 35K for weekday games against Angels (3), Stl (3) 13,000 per game over 22K for 6 games = .078M Sell-outs Opening Day, 4th of July, Day before 4th of July, 3 Yankee games = 18K for these 6 games = .108 M Poof our attendance will be 2,526,422 Average crowd 31,190 This is what I think is a realistic view.
  15. Is Lester the guy the cubs used to have????? If so Reed for him seems a bit tilted toward Boston.
  16. Watching these games the more I hate Buck and McCarver. They dwelled on the Dye thing as if it could have been strike three. It wasn't as if Wheeler had good stuff geez. Also Iguchi looked safe and they kind of gloss over it. They also never for a moment speak as if the ball may have hit the ground on the AJ thing. Also The LF on the AJ ball never had his back to the infield until the last moment. It looked as Rowand says it was either going to be caught or a home run. McCarver kept going on about how he thought he was right and to a degree he was but I also got Rowand's point. They are brutal. Ya that taste is gone Tim. You would think that the Sox were a minor league time from hearing this. Any compliments seem forced. Konerko homered because Dye cheated, very little credit to the fact he looked for a pitch, got it, and didn't miss hit.

QUOTE(TheHawkaroo @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) This is not a bad idea. However, if we don't trade Garland now then he goes into FA and we get nothing for him. So why not take a gamble on McCarthy (Who I think will have a good year given the chance) and try to get something for Garland while you can. I think Kenny will just sit back and wait with Jon, make it known that he might be available but you don't have to get rid of him. If there is an offer he can't refuse then make the trade, but worst case you can't move him, oh well he pitches another year for us or you move him at the deadline. He may cost $9M next year that is why he will be traded.
  18. A couple of things on this. Dan Patrick was on and said Tejada for Prior is a joke and Baltimore would be getting ripped off. My feeling in the baseball world is that Mark Prior's star is beginning to dim. The best part of the show was when Levine called the Dodgers losers. Silvy responds stating he is a die hard cub fan but would not consider the cubs much better than the dodgers. Levine absolutly loves Hendry and the cubs. He makes my ears bleed yet tehy run him out there.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) That was Charles Haeger. Owens had continued to play after he was added. Owens was still there... Looking at the leagues homepage, it appears that they may be in the playoffs right now. http://www.lvbp.com/ I can't read spanish, but I see the word playoff. And if they're not about to finish up with their playoffs... Let's be honest here, it's 4 days until Christmas. With all the stories you've heard about Venezuela, would you want to spend the Holidays there? f*** no. You'd go home to be with your family and hope you don't get carjacked on the way to the airport. Not if I could possibly spend it with Joey Cora and Ozzie Guillen......
  20. What is Brad Penny's situation? I do not follow the NL and thought he was up and down and injury prone to a degree but what is the money situation, could he go to the pen? I think Garland will be dealt and signed by that team as part of a blockbuster deal. The team that trades for him will not do so as a one year stopgap. Remember if he is traded and not resigned, they get two first round picks most likely.
  21. Joey Cora is the manager, didn't know that. It says the Sox are not happy he left the season early. Has this been posted anywhere and if so where? Any reasoning? This was in the Trib.
  22. Tomorrow's headlines; "White Sox cure cancer"
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) Are those the numbers they stated? 4, 5.5 and 5.5? Or is that a guess? Sox press release
  24. 3yr $15M, seems kind of low to me. He must like it here. $4M this year $5.5M the next two. Thome makes more this season. Great deal.
  25. I was reading in PHT about the thought of Danks from the Rangers. There seemed to be a good vibe when we drafted his younger brother that he is not going to sign but hoped we would take him in the upcoming years. If we did trade for his brother could we not draft him next year and sign him before the 2007 draft or is this just JUCO players? What are the parameters? I thought we could do this with a Junoir in college but so could everyone else. I guess I am just looking to see if there is anything to this? Two Danks and Jenks makes for a-lot of K's.
