  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) Bell, CA. Haha, I was looking for that option in the poll. I'm out near LA right now and it's all over the news. Good news is that the $450,000 police chief isn't getting arrested. Wow, what is wrong with this state?
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 05:28 PM) In recorded history in North America (recorded meaning, like, the past couple hundred years, reliably recorded), there has been either zero or one wolf predations of humans. There was a case in northern Canada some time back, a teenage boy walking home from work at night disappeared. The body was found having been bitten up by wolves, but they don't know if that's what killed him. That's it, ever, on this continent, in modern times. The list of animals more likely to kill you includes raccoons, for example, via rabies. Wolves, as a general rule, don't attack people. I'm sure it will happen some day, but it will be the definition of an aberration. That won't stop some people from wanting to go out and kill all of them, of course. Because they're a threat to their livestock. They also slaughter a lot of bison for fear of passing disease to livestock.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) I found this piece thoroughly amusing. Of course...this will be the last time we hear anything about how the Republicans are calling the Tribune Company and Bechtel "Small Businesses" in the tax debate. I think there's a joke about the Cubs to be made here somewhere... Well, to be fair, the article doesn't detail how many of those small businesses actually have high revenues. Bechtel might be an extreme outliar in that sample. It cites less than 20,000 out of 750,000 being partnerships or s-corps with receipts above $50M.
  4. I'd bet this adds ammunition to that case of the fan suing MLB (and Ramon Castro, I think) over this.
  5. Not getting any pressure on Romo right now. They're making easy 10-15 yard passes.
  6. If they're going to blitz just keep firing the short pass over the middle. Fantastic response by Martz here.
  7. Wow, this is going to end poorly for Jay today. I foresee a concussion. Also f***.
  8. Defense is looking effective, at least.
  9. Hahaha wow Cutler is already getting killed. This does not look good.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 07:33 AM) What you are saying is true about these three candidates. Its not necessarily true of the movement as a whole. That's part of the problem I see them having, is a lack of cohesion. You basically have the far-right-wing crazy conservatives getting nominated, and they represent some PART of the Tea Party mentality, but its not quite the same. It's who is being elected and supported under the Tea Party. I'm not seeing any tea party challengers who are not just social conservatives who appear to be deeply ignorant. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) I wouldn't necessarily put Rand Paul in that category. I would.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 03:05 AM) What are you doing on the Socal area. You in Oceanside or Carlsbad? Security project at the San Onofre Giant Boobs. I'm staying in Mission Viejo this week. I'll probably be back again next Tuesday but I don't know where I'm staying then. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 06:54 AM) lol I know what that's like... now imagine it being in a combat zone and having it only be about 200 meters from where you're living. Yeah, I'm glad I know that they're only training exercises.
  12. Senate passes "Small Business Bill" with the help of 2 GOP senators.
  13. Working near Camp Pendleton this week. Artillery shells going off in the background is a bit unsettling.
  14. Some of those ideas are pretty crazy. More insanity from O'Donnell, now fully endorsed by the GOP: AIDS Gets Too Much Gov't Money, Condoms Wouldn't Stop It She also has some pretty crazy ideas on porn and masturbation. Also bought into the 'Clinton killed Vince Foster' crap. The Tea Party candidates are simply conservatives. They're on the right-wing fringe end and sort of crazy for the most part, but they back common conservative ideologies. It's not some brand new movement and it never has been. It isn't libertarian. It isn't about more personal freedom.
  15. Joe Miller has some pretty terrible ideas, but I wouldn't put him quite into the same category as the other ones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Miller_(Alaska_politician) More anti-science crap, though.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 12:51 PM) She called Mike a Senator? I didn't catch that part in my first reading. LOL. More craziness: Glad to see the GOP endorsing her now. This is the quality of candidate populist movements based on anger and a good dose of anti-intellectualism get you. Raving idiots. Rand Paul. Christine O'Donnell. Sarah Angle. And the movement is largely swayed by Palin and Beck.
  17. I thought it was an asphalt road at first. Horrible.
  18. oh right that. I thought he meant the GOP.
  19. That's intentional hyperbole and wasn't directed at anyone on SoxTalk. I'm sorry if you can't see why "I don't want to say she was asking for it, but..." followed by rationale for why she was "asking" to be sexually harassed by having the gall to be an attractive female sports reporter is incredibly sexist. And why making jokes about her and objectifying her as Rush did is sexist. Please note that I called your statement sexist. Seriously though, I saw this comment elsewhere and thought it's spot on
  20. I don't recall pointing out any racist comments or positions that you hold.
  21. Christine O'Donnell: Anti-evolution, biblical literalist ignoramus. Sometimes the level of scientific ignorance in this country really saddens me. Also, she appears to be a compulsive liar. And her campaign is broke right now. The Tea Party primary winners so far seem don't seem to be top quality.
  22. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Did you see the Cowboys game when they ran a play with a few seconds left before the half? Yeah, Tashard Choice fumbled the ball and DeAngelo Hall scored a TD which ended up resulting a win. So don't give me that garbage. Stats show Lovie should've gone for it, he went for it, and he failed. It happens. Stats with questionable methodology. They simply look at average conversion rates but don't incorporate actual in-game information such as the Lions lack of a first down in that half and that they had Shaun Hill at QB. It's a very superficial analysis and not anything close to a definitive answer.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) THEY FINALLY THREW THE LEFT A BONE! YAY! How? They're making her an adviser to avoid the confirmation process.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) Republicans officially to roll out ~$4 trillion tax cut proposal. This is simply a unique way to solve the budget problem. Completely bankrupt the government, and our debts will be forgiven! Sure, our national credit score will suck for a few years, but we'll get back on our feet. Better than debt reconsolidation!
