They don't get the difference between weather and climate. Or science in general.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Eyup. And others just troll these days with 1,000 word non-sequitors or straw men. I guess it depends on your point of view. And for lf, the point is you don't see Democrats devouring their "own networks".

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) CNN got overheated with their rhetoric. MSNBC got overheated with their rhetoric. Oh wait, you never hear that from Democrats. That's part of the problem. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) What the f***'s that got to do with anything, we are talking about Tom Coburn and what he said about Fox, nothing else Seriously, kap, what the was the last relevant, meaningful post you had in the 'buster?

What lostfan and JCM said. Why are you guys having so many issues with your Wintel machines? I don't run any anti-virus and I'm not afraid of torrenting and I never have problems.

The New Catholic Church Scandal
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 09:43 AM) There's something amazing about the fact that we now live in a world where the legislature in CT is debating a bill that would extend the statue of limitations for child sexual abuse cases...and it is facing heated opposition from NAMBLA the Catholic Church. Jesus H. Christ.

I have nothing against the Zune, it's just that the iPod has so many more 3rd party devices and can be integrated much more into other systems. The network effect there is strong. The stereo in my fiance's car and my receiver at home can both directly control the iPod; there's more charges available; more speaker systems are made for it; more cases, protectors, etc.; more car stereo systems integrate directly. That's what made me pick the iPod over a competitor.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) Honestly, they should have at it. It is more important that a potential President be investigated than a Senator. And at the end of the day, more often than Dems, Repubs usually do the decent thing and step away. I don't ever remember a Dem doing that. Ahahahahahahahaha.

GAME THREAD: 4/10 Twinkies vs Sox - 12:05pm cdt CSN+, Baker vs Garcia
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) Pierre is a far better defensive OF than Pods is. They both have noodle arms, but Pierre is better in all other respects. For whatever it's worth, their WARPs were nearly identical last year (2.5 or so).

beautiful swing right there. Ugh. I hate that it's still the first week of the season and I'm already sick of the same offense we've seen for years.

Justice John Paul Stevens Retiring
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) And who started the real "politicing" of SCOTUS nominees? It took one hour for the Borkinization of SCOTUS nominees to begin by one Ted Kennedy. What is this in reference to? Honest question, I really don't know any history behind SCOTUS nominations.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 06:09 AM) The bigger issue is you can't cut taxes and then increase your spending by 10%. That obviously doesn't work. But it's been proven over and over that the revenues received goes higher when taxes are cut. It's just Congress is so stupid about it that we're left the other way.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:02 PM) I predict our offense will be worse than at least 9 NL teams this year. There was a caller on B&B today saying they'd average around 1.6 runs/ game more than the 2005 team.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) it's not that we insist apples can't get viruses, it's that we don't, and it's nice. I don't give a f*** if it's because people don't care since less people use them, it's still brilliant to have had a laptop for 5 years with absolutely zero problems when my friends with dells have gone through 2 or 3. No, my friend is completely technologically illiterate and thinks Apples are immune to getting viruses. FWIW, I haven't run anti-virus software on my PC for years and haven't had a virus. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 12:12 AM) It's really not arrogance. It's the happiness that comes with owning a product that actually works like it is supposed to... Which, in this case, is limited and strictly-controlled functionality.

Yeah, this board has had more and more of a left-lean over the past 18 months or so. I think that's partly due to some of the more right-leaning posters becoming less active for various reasons. And yeah, I get the feeling that all conservatives are sometimes painted with the broad brush stroke of ignorance or stupidity. It shouldn't happen, but it gets implied sometimes, even if it wasn't intentional.
-
Technology catch-all thread
There's also a lot of ignorance-based apple fandom, like my friend who insists that Apples cannot get viruses.
