"I'm going to hook up this wheel to a system of light and water! and then I'll turn the wheel and I'll leave!" One of many "WTF? Why do they keep insulting our intelligence?" moments from last night.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 12, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) My opinon comes from Chicago police officers that work the worst parts of the cities and tell me that. And by work, I mean they tred into those territories only when it's absolutely necessary because the gangs there control the streets more than cops do. Does it really make a difference which one is worse when in both situations you can get shot simply by being outside? Anecdotes from Chicago police officers that don't work in Juarez don't trump reality. And stop backpedalling. You claimed they were equal no matter how bad border towns are.

That was maybe the worst episode in the entire series. What a complete waste of time.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 8, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) I just want to get a win. I could really care less about no-hitter/perfect game. Those always end up so well for us. I'm far too lazy to look it up... has there ever been a staff with two pitchers with perfect games?

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 8, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) What would you characterize La Raza as? They pretty much want to take over the southwest, and have no respect for anything not hispanic. And can you imagine a white or black group called 'The Race'? A minority special interest group that I don't particularly agree with. But your characterization of them as a "hate group" is just plain ridiculous. Also, their name is a good example of meaning being lost in translation. It has a different connotation in Spanish countries than "the race" would in English-speaking countries. edit: also please address my primary question in that post

The new law isn't even in effect yet, but we already have a good example of how terrible and racist it is: FWIW these practices have been common-place in American Hero Sherriff Joe Arpaio's county for a while.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 8, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) ss2k, I disagree with you here. If a group of white students went to the school and told them that they were threatened or intimidated by the display of nationalism exhibited by hispanic students on May 5, they would have been told that somehow THEY were being culturally insensitive and should just deal with it. They wouldn't dare stop the displays, unless there was a school code prohibiting ALL displays, for fear of some sort of retribution from LaRaza or some other hispanic hate group out there. Do you see the difference between Mexican students wearing Mexican flags on Cinco de Mayo or Americans wearing American flags on July 4th and wearing American flags and bandannas on May 5th or a bunch of Mexican flags on July 4th? eta: also LOL at La Raza being a "Hispanic hate group"

QUOTE (Cknolls @ May 8, 2010 -> 01:54 PM) Oh, look there goes another clue bus with one less passenger...... I forgot you are all knowing. How many years have you been a market maker? If you know not what you speak silence is best. But thats hard for..... 95% of what you post is incomprehensible to most people. Not because you don't know what you're talking about (I have no ability to evaluate that), but because it's a bunch of technical jargon most people don't know.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) Sen. John McCain...now less sane than Glenn Beck. Finally got around to watching that video. Beck did a good job demonstrating how stupid the F&F people are and how s***ty their arguments are there. edit: and as the interview went on, the F&F people demonstrated their complete lack of knowledge of the issues they were (attempting) to discuss. they sound like a bunch of dumb teenagers thinking they're political and legal experts.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 7, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) the only tards in this story is the assistant principal and any super sensitive student who would get all offended. Who the f*** cares if someone wears a US flag shirt? If you can't deal with that 'disrespect' you are an idiot. 5 students wore these shirts (which ironically violates the US code on the flag) and bandannas on Cinco de Mayo. Do you think they weren't trying to make a political statement?

Read on another board, conveys my thoughts:

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) I don't think the administrators problem with it was that it's "insensitive". They probably thought the people showing up in the American shirts were trolling and going to start trouble. Still, dumb. I would be inclined to think that they did wear the shirt on Cinco de Mayo intentionally to make a statement, but it's still not ok to ban them from wearing it. I fought school administration over similar issues back in HS; I fully support the student in this case.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 7, 2010 -> 12:12 PM) That incident was f***ing retarded though. Actually I think Cinco de Mayo is an American holiday anyway. Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a holiday held on May 5 that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.[2][3] It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and in the United States.[4][5][6][7] Thanks wikipedia! But yeah that incident is retarded.
