Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 8, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) They have a theater like this in Woodridge. Ive been there a few times (believe it or not) They actually have waiters that get you food and drinks in the theater and most of the seats are at tables or desks almost. They have $11 pitchers of long islands specials and stuff too. Its an interesting idea, just doesnt seem to work very well. Its good for first dates though... Hollywood BLVD I was going to mention them. Their parking lot sucks big time, though. Its in a strip mall with a bunch of other places. They just built a huge theater on River Rd. near 294 and 190 (pretty much next to O'Hare). They have luxury seating, no kids, booze, etc. http://cinematreasures.org/theater/21297/ https://www.muvico.com/Default.asp?

Michigan Democratic Delegate Deal - unconfirmed
Of course she rejects this plan. She cannot give Obama a fraction of an inch at this point.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2008 -> 03:07 PM) And Crede pops it up on the first pitch again. Crede, PK, and Swisher are just worthless right now. And Cabrera. don't forget him.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 8, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) It is really getting pathetic that Swisher whose average is sad is playing every day as is Konerko while Anderson who looks to at least have a clue is playing once a week. At least for me, it kills any notion that Ozzie doesn't have a personal beef with Anderson and that Anderson will ever get a chance on the White Sox.

The Sox continue their proud stats of being last in AVG and best in HR's!

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 8, 2008 -> 12:32 AM) http://www.timelooptheory.com/the_timeline.htm No spoilers. If you have a half hour to blow, its a really good read. Great read. I don't agree with some specific details, but I do think that the overall premise is there. The "time loop" idea has been in the back of my head for a while now.

White Sox loser
What a disaster of a game. Glad I got to see the Twins beat our heads in again. Seems like thats the only games I ever go to. Anyone have video of Buerhle taking it out on the heater?

GOP seeks order to primary chaos
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:23 AM) Because this is not the actual election, this is not a states rights issue IMO. Because the parties are still determining their candidates for the general election at this time, I do believe it is still up to the parties to decide how they want to handle things. Within the current structure, the state parties still have the right to determine what they will do. IE, Illinois Democratic Party can choose to have a different method than the Ohio Democratic Party. There's nothing that says it has to be that way, though. If the Democrats wanted, they could say "Howard Dean picks the candidate" and that would be that.

Official 2008-2009 NFL Thread
Belichick is a "genius" because he apparently cheated. You can take him. Do you have anything to actually defend Belichick's actions, or are you just going to keep gushing over how fabulous he is?

LOST!!!!
the Office and Lost are the only things I watch on Thursdays (they're the only shows I watch on network TV), so I like having them on the same night. Usually head over to a friend's house so we can DVR through the 20 commercials in Lost. Thursdays are at least a baseball day off every once in a while. I remember having to flip back and forth between Lost and Buerhle's no-no last year until it got until the 8th or 9th inning (then it stayed on).

HDMI Help
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2008 -> 06:51 AM) Well while this thread is up... The wife and I are planning on being good Amerians and buying a new HD with the stimulus check here soon. We want something in the 32" variety, because that is the biggest we can go and still keep the entertainment center. Any recomendations? Then question number two becomes for people who have Comcast, what cable package does it take to be able to get Sox games in HD? Thanks, I'll hang up and listen for your answer I just picked up a 40" Sony three weeks ago and I love it. Their 32" sets looked great, too. Can't go wrong with Samsung either. I added the Digital Starter and HD packages to my cable and I get all the Sox games. What I find weird about this package is I get some Discovery Network stations like Discovery, HD Theater and Animal Planet in HD, but not others like TLC. If you want TLC, HGTV, FOOD, History, etc. in HD, you'll have to go with Digital Classic. When you call Comcast, be sure to keep asking for a better price and threaten to switch to satellite. you can get your bill dropped substantially.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 6, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) What happened? JD with a ground ball up the middle, Cabrera scores. Quentin goes for 3rd and the ball gets away. Quentin went for home and the throw beat him, but Mauer couldn't handle the ball and Quentin was safe.

Good break for Quentin right there. He was out by about 10 feet.

Quentin is the best.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 6, 2008 -> 06:19 PM) Steve Stone saying Gavin did not touch first base. You can see in the replay that he was off at first but twisted his foot and made contact before the runner reached. Close call and I can see how the ump would miss it, but I still think he was out.
-
MIN (16-14, W5) @ CWS (14-16, L6), 7:11pm
That was an out. So Gavin's already getting squeezed and then they blow a call at first. Great job, umps!

In Season Constructive Changes
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 6, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) And the team should have probably made the playoffs a few more times in his tenure, and that probably will be his downfall, but I think many people on here forget how awful other GM's can be. I don't care how awful other GM's are. I'm not going to accept mediocrity/ below average results because other people are worse. Yeah, his failure at succeding will be his downfall. I prefer competitive payrolls, but that's just me.

In Season Constructive Changes
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 6, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) If not winning the world series is failure, then what is the equal for your job? Not doubling your revenue? Not inventing a new product that outsells all competitors? Kenny did a good job this offseason, he may get close to the ax because the players arent performing the way they should and the way everyone was celebrating before this slump, but he still made some great decisions. Not making the playoffs 87.5% of the time with a substantial payroll is failure for a GM in my book. Another season like last year's and attendance will be way down again. Look at my Motorola analogy. Hell, the timeline even matches with KW's success (BIG peak in 2005, crap and losing market share since). He did great for 2005, but you can't ride on that success forever.
