CWS (14-15, L5) @ TOR (15-17, W3), 5/5, 6:07pm CT
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 5, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) What a waste of solid pitching. The offense should be embarrassed. In his last 2 starts, Javy has gone 15.2 IP with 2ER (and two runners on right now) and has a ND and is in line for a L to show for it. Thanks, White Sox offense!

This ump is missing some really clear pitches.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ May 5, 2008 -> 07:21 PM) If I was Javy I would just take out a machine gun and go to town... I don't know how these pitchers don't just do something unfortunate to someone on the offense when they pop up or GIDP with RISP.

Can't wait until the team BA is below .200.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ May 5, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) I'm almost ready to say I hope the Sox keep the lineup like this for a while. There's gigantic holes at 3 and 4.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) There's our first Cy McGowan mention. It really baffles me how Greg Walker can keep his job. I thought they were finally putting the blame on the White Sox offense instead of the usual "tip your cap" BS line. Greg Walker keeps his job because hitting coaches don't matter! It's all on the players!!!!!!!

This is the problem with liberals in charge
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Look up the difference in earning power for a student who finishes HS and one who finishes a 4 year degree. That is a direct result of a college education. Start multiplying those differences times what that person would pay in taxes over a lifetime on that additional income, and times that times the amount of students who would be hurt by a tax on education. I don't think it would even come close. And not just on a tax-basis, but an educated person benefits society more than an uneducated person. They'll generally be able to do and accomplish more.

HDMI Help
QUOTE (shipps @ May 5, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) My grandfather has the same exact TV setup as I do but he has the cheaper cables, and I swear my picture is better than his on some of the HD channels. Could be a lot of different factors, including TV calibration, power source quality and signal quality from the cable/ satellite box. Double-blind testing usually shows these things to make no difference subjectively, and signal testing shows them to make no difference objectively. There's a lot of snake oil out there in the A/V world. That works well for me. I started contributing to my 401k as soon as I could. I also have my car payments direct-deposited and auto-withdrawn from a separate account so that I don't ever see or miss that money, and I auto-deposit some money into savings every paycheck as well. When that money is never in your checking account to begin with, you won't miss it being there.

All Things Pro-Obama
QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 5, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) Bring it on, Hilldog, bring it on. If she does that, you know she's torpedoing everything so she can get another chance come 2012. I don't think its anything but that. The way I can see this potentially backfiring is the remaining supers seeing through her BS and deciding to vote for Obama en masse, ensuring him the nomination.

This needs to be brought to light...
I take off my headphones at work when that Miller commercial comes on. So annoying. The Subway one is stupid but doesn't annoy me. Seemed like they were trying to imitate Dunkin' donuts ads.

HDMI Help
Do not waste your money on stuff like Monster Cable. There is no reason for an HDMI cable to cost that much. Their market has to be like 1000%. I'll just agree with what everyone else said and say buy them online. I've had good luck with bluejeanscable.com

Negative Catch All ~ House of Blues
How many losses-with-a-quality-start does this team have? I would guess that they're leading the majors in that stat.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 3, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) And the thing is,he doesnt make us feel any better about the team.Yet he thinks that is exactly what he is doing. He just pisses me off because he refuses to ever admit when there's a problem and joins in with Hawk in DJ in Cy Young-ifiying every pitcher that shuts the White Sox down.

QUOTE (RME JICO @ May 3, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) It's pretty bad when you only allow 2 ERs in 2 games, and lose both. At least we weren't shutout again. You can only hold back the Solo HR for so long!

Negative Catch All ~ House of Blues
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 2, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) Another pathetic outing by the offense. Doesn't matter who they did or didn't pitch to if you don't score any runs. Just wait! They'll start hitting in June! I promise! I'll just repost this for today's game.

Bugs and Cranks: Bench Quentin for Owens
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 2, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) Yeah, I wasn't sure how out of the question that was. I guess I don't see why it would be a huge hindrance , but, I wouldn't call myself an expert on the subject either. I understand the tough turn to throw, but thinking about being RH at SS and throwing to third on a GB, it doesn't seem so automatically horrible. Just a thought. How often are you throwing to 3rd from SS, though? Throwing to 1st from 2nd is a pretty regular play.

For GOP only
How is that question relevant to anything? That's my problem with it.

Bugs and Cranks: Bench Quentin for Owens
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 2, 2008 -> 10:18 AM) its dumb how hes using quentins career stats as an example. we all know he wasnt healthy b4 and that affected his numbers as well. hes just finally playing the way evryone thought hed play. do i think he'll finish the year with an avg over 300 or an obp over 400? no. but his numbers will be pretty solid i think. Yeah, someone pointed that out in the comments and he just sort of ignored it. For him, speed=win, slugging=loss.

Positive Catch All
QUOTE (almagest @ May 2, 2008 -> 10:06 AM) Generally when you lose, you look bad. It's hard to look good and lose without accidentally ruining it all and winning. You're right. All loses are identical. Losing a 1 run game to Johan Santana is the same as getting shut down by some no-name scrub while your best pitcher and bullpen get lit up for 10 runs. Give me a break. Just as you can win in a dominant fashion, shutting down the opponent and having an efficient offense, and you can "win ugly," you can lose a close-but-well-played game leaving hope for the next time or you can get embarrassed. To keep this positive, look at the difference between the way they lost the 1st and 2nd games of the season. After the first game, everyone was optimistic because this team battled back and made a game out of it after being down. After the second game, it looked like 2007 all over again.

Bugs and Cranks: Bench Quentin for Owens
This guy just continues to try to defend the idea that the Sox won in 2005 because of Scotty Pods' stolen bases and that the same will be true for the 2008 White Sox with Jerry Owens.
