QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) The leagues have all set up agreements and testing programs with various reputable companies, such that there is a list of "approved supplements that we have tested and guaranteed" for each league. But, as you know the supplement industry is basically totally unregulated due to act of Congress so there are thousands of supplements out there that have zero reputable testing and zero guarantee that they contain what they're supposed to contain with nothing else in it. As a player in these leagues you have ~3 options. First is use supplements that are widely available only because some state-level attorney general will probably test those every now and then. Second, use only items from the approved lists from the league. Third, use items that you test yourself or that you have some reason to trust. The latter obviously still has some risk associated with it. Finally, you could throw caution to the wind and use whatever you want and maybe its clean, maybe its not. No I mean what makes some specific chemical or compound go on the banned list in the first place versus being perfectly okay, not necessarily the brand or blend but the components that are okay or not.

What's the criteria the MLB uses for determining whether or not a supplement is okay?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 03:39 AM) If Bernie is from another planet, why does he often poll better head-to-head against Trump than Ms. Clinton? Less well known, same reason guys like Kasich will poll really well before widespread exposure.

Did they not send out notices this year or something? I just got a ticket at midway and didn't even realize it had expired

The stuff revealed about trumps scam University is pretty terrible. Structured like a high pressure multi level marketing scam. Why does an alleged multi billionaire need to bilk the elderly and poor single mothers of of thousands of dollars?
-
yeah that seems like a bit of an overreaction to a 2nd PED test, but like ss2k5 said, at his age 162 games is basically a lifetime ban anyway
-
I agree that Trump is terrible for doing that and his supporters are, at best, terrible for just going along with it, but I really doubt he's going to have any long-term impact on his career. Trump's dumb clown show will be over in about 5 months, and then he'll just go back to being the loud-mouthed twitter conspiracy idiot he was the past several years. Oh, and maybe minus millions of dollars after he inevitably loses his civil suit over his fraud 'university.'

There's also a difference in that this is just another one of an uncountable number of lies from Trump boosting his own ego. "I raised $6 million* for veterans**!" *not $6M **Didn't pay out the majority of it until called out about it

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) What's the press supposed to do? Let him continue to claim he raised $6 million when he didn't? I think you vastly overestimate how good this coverage is for him. He looks like a giant baby, and his "unfavorable" polling numbers are massive. Every move Trump makes is a masterstroke in the eyes of his supporters. That's what you get when you're running a cult of personality, though.

Bill Kristol's Renegade Party has a candidate! It's David French! A guy so famous he doesn't even have his own wikipedia page. -
To claim he raised six million, which he didn't, and to humble brag about the donations, which he didn't actually make until called out about it.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 31, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) Looks like that only applies to those making less than his arbitrary threshold, however. There already was a threshold, but it hasn't been raised in decades. And of course any number is going to be arbitrary.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 31, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) Yup. And like I posted before, if Johnson is on the ballot in all 50 states, he should be allowed to be there. I was too young, so how did Perot get into those debates? Was the system much looser back then? The debates used to be run by the League of Women Voters up until 1987, when the Democrats and Republicans founded the Commission on Presidential Debates. They have a threshold of 15% on five major polls in order to be invited to the debate. There may be somewhat widespread support for a "third party," but the specifics of what that third party would represent vary widely so it's unlikely you'll see a third party get to that 15%. -
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 30, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) Hillary is gonna do everything she can to avoid debates. The only way she probably does it is if she gets to hand pick the moderators and the terms. Clinton may be a flawed candidate in numerous ways, but not when it comes to a debate and especially not when it's against a thin-skinned man-child.

my boss just came by, asked if I had anything pressing to do today (yes, but not much) and then said he was leaving shortly so...I guess my weekend starts pretty soon.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 26, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) I hear stuff on the radio (haven't watched much TV the last year or so except sports) in the car and it intrigues me. Heard the item about all those kids living at home and it strikes me as very interesting. So I post bout it. It's life, not trolling. Don't you listen to right wing talk radio like Limbaugh? Not exactly a reliable source of accurate information.
