I haven't seen anything indicating that officers do train specifically for heat-of-the-moment memory recall. Working a scene after the fact isn't the same thing as being an eyewitness.

Right, that's really all I was driving at. That's a hugely important and impactful assumption to be making without any real justification to back it up.

I missed the very end of 2013 due to power outage on our side of the street only (lost battery on the radio with the Hawks down one, hard two consecutive cheers from across the street and knew they won it), and I had to follow the game on the ESPN app last night because I was driving across California for work and no station bothered to broadcast the game.

I wouldn't be surprised if it makes you less reliable over time, but I'd say find out what the research says instead of blindly assuming.
