  1. a great win? The closer blew a 2 run lead on double after double and AJ was fortunate enough to face a rookie who has only thrown 13 innings in the majors. If they were facing a team with an established closer, this game would have been over after that 6th run was scored. A win is a win I know, but they were very fortunate to get out of it with a W
  2. This matchup between Garcia and the Indians make me cringe as the Indians have owned Garcia this season. The White Sox are going to have to pile on the runs against Byrd, because Garcia is going to give up quite a few.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) No, they changed the rule a couple years ago. If a team ties or takes the lead and it becomes rained out after its an official game, it becomes a suspended game and will resume from the point it ended. dumb question alert: If they cannot get the game in tonight (I suspect they will, but just for the sake of argument) would Seattle simply return to Detroit on an off day for both teams and resume the game with Monroe on second, bottom of the 8th?
  4. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) I love AJ not giving the ball to all the fans right next to him, after he looked at them all. nice. at least on bosox feed are you actually serious? If any other catcher did that you would be up in arms. It was a classless act and he should know better
  5. i hate to say it, but that was an excellent play by the twins
  6. the home run swing strikes again The Twins aren't out of the woods yet, Jermaine will be due up in the 9th Hey there's BA. Oh, and Pods. Yay for Pods in for defensive purposes
  7. the fact reyes is still out there blows my mind
  8. despite the walk, nice easy inning for Contreras
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) 6:30 start tonight, rain delay. Ahh but think of this possibility, Mack will be out in the slippery outfield, things happen on slippery grass. . . . just kiddin
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) What happens first tonight: Sox runner is thrown out at home, or we see Neal Cotts in the game to face Morneau/Mauer? I'll put 50 on Cotts facing Morneau/Mauer
  11. Twins lineup: Castillo 2B Punto 3B Mauer C Cuddyer RF Morneau 1B Hunter CF White DH Tyner LF Bartlett SS Sadly, Alomar's .143 lifetime average against Santana is > than AJ's .091
  12. settle down jon, you just need one more
  13. i just got to see it on mlb.tv, sweet play by BA. Think Mack would have had it?
  14. looks like they are warming up now, let's get going.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) Neiffi is a gold glover. He's not as good as he once was, but considering he's at 2nd base you have a guy with some serious range and a SS's arm over there so he's superior to Infante defensively over there. That said offensively he leaves a lot to be desired. True, but like you said, he was a gold glover once and that was 6 years ago. I don't put a lot of faith in someone when even veteran happy Dusty Baker didn't want him playing on an everyday basis. I do think Neifi may have an edge defensively, but I have to wonder if the difference between the two defensively is signifcant enough to keep Infante on the bench. Either way, I like the Sox chances against the Tiger lineup today
  16. I'm really surprised Infante isn't playing today, he has good numbers against Garland and Neifi Perez doesn't really scream defensive prowress
  17. Not allowing a guy like Boof Bonser to get through another inning with just 7 pitches would be a start
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) 45 through 2. Yikes. ouch, that is quite a few. high pressure one's too
  19. I wonder if this delay might cause some changes in the lineup, particularly in the outfield.
  20. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) I agree with your assesment with the exeption of the Blue Jays remark. I don't think you should take anything away from Javy's 2 hit performance. Slump or not, Toronto is a kick ass offensive team and Javy shut them down. With that said...I'd like to see it again before I start believing his "fixed." I agree, Toronto is a powerhouse offensively, but during that stretch, they were anything but. Even guys like Cory Lidle were handling them quite well. But tonight might let us know whether he has turned the corner regarding his 3 times through the lineup blues
  21. One thing I would like to say about Vasquez and his start tonight against the Yankees. . . If you are expecting a repeat performance of 8 innings of 2 hit 1 run ball from him, you are going to be very disapointed. Javy was facing a struggling Blue Jay team that had just been through a horrendous road stretch against the likes of Oakland and the Yankees. As long as he makes it through 6 innings giving up 4 runs or less, I would qualify that as a good start for him, for these reasons: (1) Mussina is very talented, but like Mark Buerhle, he "lives on the corners". In his last start against Baltimore, Mussina was not getting the calls, and eventually gave up 3 runs over 5 innings, a very un-Mussina like start. Given the umpiring of this series (bad for both sides), Mussina may struggle and end up leaving earlier than expected. This leads me to . . . (2) The Yankee bullpen. The White Sox should be commended for the hurting it put on the Yankee bullpen over the past two games. Over the past two games, Farnsworth pitched 16 and 29 pitches respectively, Villone has pitched 23 and 12 respectively. Rivera has pitched 15 and 26 respectively. These guys are not well rested individuals. That leaves Joe Toree with the likes of Sidney Ponson, Scott Proctor, Mike Myers and Veras. If I was a Yankee fan, those names would not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling if the game is close. This White Sox team has proven time and time again that no lead is safe in the Cell, if Javy can keep the game within reach, I would say he is making progress and the alterations he has made to his delivery are really making a difference. Should be a good one
