  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) Do Tiger fans like the announcing crew? I really have not heard that much of them, but what I have heard, I kinda like them. For the Tiger fans that do listen to the two of them, are they any good? Most fans love them. They are fair, and Rod is totally crazy and says all this weird quirky stuff. They are really fun to listen to.
  2. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) The reason it's called the "CY YOUNG" award is because the player it's named after had more wins than anyone in history. It would be ignorant to say that W's mean nothing. I must have typoed. I mean to say wins SHOULDN'T win anything.
  3. Wins should mean nothing for Cy Young's. There are people like Bonderman who could have 16 or 17, but have 10 or 11 because of poor run support. Same goes the other way. Anyhow, Tigers sucked today. End of story.
  4. QUOTE(soxunited @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) I'm really surprised Infante isn't playing today, he has good numbers against Infante and Neifi Perez doesn't really scream defensive prowress Infante is a dropoff from Perez defensively, but if he hadn't made that error against Texas when Robertson threw the 2 hitter, it would not even be a discussion. It could've happened to anyone.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Jim Leyland must be the worst manager on the planet for resting 3 of his starters against the White Sox... Except that two of them are not his starters.. Hawk said an hour to an hour and a half.
  6. QUOTE(mskli @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) no Pudge/Thames/Infante Thames is a platoon guy, Pudge needs a break and Infante..well you know.
  7. Two pitchers that are performing very well. I see a close one.
  8. LF Ozuna 2B Iguchi DH Thome 1B Konerko RF Dye 3B Crede SS Uribe CF Anderson C Alomar Jr. 2B Perez LF Monroe C Rodriguez RF Ordonez SS Guillen DH Thames 1B Casey CF Clevlen 3B Inge Ugh Perez leading off, but Clevlen playing, which is awesome for the Tigers
  9. Buerhle has been decent lately, as has Rogers. Should be a good one.
  10. QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Have you seen the other options that Leyland has in the infield now that Polanco's out? The strikeout happy Omar Infante who is far too error prone in the field for a possible playoff bound club and Ramon Santiago who can field his position fine but couldn't handle a bat if his life depended on it. Rest assured, if and when Placido comes back, Perez won't see the light of day unless there's another injury. The Tigers need offense more than defense. Perez is just like Santiago, can lay a bunt and play defense, can't hit worth a lick. Infante is a downgrade at defense, but you are underrating him because of the game in Texas.
  11. I guess Perez is starting. Horrible trade by the Tigers. Hopefully Infante gets traded so he doesn't have to deal with this bs anymore.
  12. He's right..even though the Tigers thing in that article is irrelevant. Noticing tipped pitches make you a better team, not a cheating one.
  13. I really hope the Tigers can split this..it's possible with two lefties going this series. But I don't see it. 3 of 4 for the Sox.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) Detroit acquires Neifi Perez from the Cubs for a class-A catcher who is mainly a good defender. Watch out Chicago, Neifi Perez is coming to town. He's just going to back up Infante, Guillen and Inge. Better than Santiago.
  15. I was watching on the Tigers game commercials, and after Castillo missed that pop up and Thome got the double I never turned it again. Just had that feeling.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) He's always had difficulties with the offspeed stuff away....trust me Yep.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) Let me ask you this: are Tigers fans annoyed with Granderson's strike out issues? Yes, it is very irritating. But we know that it is probably just part of his growth process. Once he can recognize the soft stuff away, he will be alright.
  18. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 01:54 AM) yeah, especially when the year's not over and we haven't even started the playoffs yet. How coud we judge Freddy's stretch run, when we haven't witnessed it yet? All his critics are ignorent on the subject. I have a hidden confidence in Freddy. BTW, how did your date go tonight? ( that's right, no date, you spend wayyy too much time on soxtalk. ) Maybe they are saying that because if you can't get good pitching from him, you may not make the playoffs?
  19. Tigers down 2-1. Ninth Inning. Monroe gets a lead-off triple. Then is promptly stranded at third. I guess they can't do it every time.
  20. Granderson has enough speed to steal, he just doesn't get good jumps. He's about as fast as Guillen, who has like 15 or something. He strikes out a ton, and can't hit lefty's worth a lick, but has like 60 walks or something, which isn't bad.
  21. Anyone have the distance of the Clevlen HR? Had to be 450+.
  22. Yeah, Infante was in for Inge and just left for Inge to come in. Infante is a decent player though. He was one of the top 5 2nd Basemen in 2004.
  23. Tigers son 3-2 tonight, however Polanco seperated his shoulder, and Infante had just left the game, go Pudge had to play second.
