QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/...el-team-toronto Konerko not traveling to Toronto, symptoms only slightly better. If the exam goes well though he will resume baseball activities tomorrow though...this isn't really an update, is it?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 07:25 AM) If you wanted awesome pictures of Tatooine, all you had to do was watch Star Wars in Blu-Ray, you didn't have to send an erector set robot up into space to do it. George Lucas already did this, only better...because he filmed the Sand People that are eluding this rover. It really doesn't look a whole lot different than most people's backyards in my neighborhood

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) I think they have the fat reserves for the extra energy needed for playing a lot. Hah, this was too funny...

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) Losing 2 of 3 to the royals still pisses me off. And Thornton blowing the lead last night doesnt sit with me well either. Over the next month, they need to iron out some of the lapses and bad decisions if they want a shot at the playoffs. Could have definitely won 6 or 7 on this homestand instead of 5, but given that we took series' from the Angels and Oakland, I am fairly satisfied with the results, regardless of what Detroit did. Nice to see the fight in these guys, as usual. -
QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 10:48 PM) 2 first pitch homers too tonight. AJ and Danks didn't wanna wait very long. 3 actually
-
The A's announcers seem to think the home plate ump got blocked out from that pitch.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) I thought you were one of the few on here that wasn't a huge fan of his. I mean I don't dislike him but I'm not happy with his progression (or lack thereof). I think the expectations are much too high for him.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:49 PM) Is that sarcasm? Uh, yeah
-
Manny Machado with 2 homers for the O's tonight...
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) He looks mentally defeated at the plate. He swung at some pitches over the last week that were a good 18 inches off the plate, and immediately put his head down. You know my stance is that the Sox are being extremely stubborn with the bench right now and they can't let this offense continue to have so many easy outs in it. Danks has been terrible at the plate since the ASB as well. He's only 23 though
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:42 PM) 5-4-3 double play for Viciedo...just awful. I really hope they figure out a way for things to start clicking again for him soon.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 04:39 PM) Because that's an awful idea. So why not bat Rios 9th? You can't have Beckham getting more abs than Youk, that's ridiculous. I'm not making an argument that others need to be moved for Gordon's sake. All I was doing was making the point that the incremental improvement from seeing good pitches in the 1st or 2nd spot might be greater for a guy like Gordon than a guy like Youkilis. That certainly doesn't mean that Gordon should hit there instead of Youkilis.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) And if that's the case, I'd rather have the performance enhanced version of Youkilis than Gordon. But Youkilis is better equipped to make the necessary adjustments than Gordon.

What baseball team do you hate the most?
iamshack replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I hate the Twins with the Indians coming in a close second. For whatever reason, I can't really hate the Tigers...their broadcasters don't bother me, their fans don't really bother me, and their style of play has never really bothered me. It's probably because we have never really lost out on anything because of the Tigers, except maybe in '06, and even then, I viewed that as more our team just collapsed rather than the Tigers beat us. The Twins and the Indians on the other hand....grrrr -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) Personally, I don't like to break up season's intro intervals. "So and so has been one of the best in baseball since May 25th." I think it insults the best of the best that have done it from day one (Trout, Braun, 'Cutch, etc). Yeah, that's fair...I don't really care to be honest with you. Just stating a fact.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 05:21 PM) 80 games? Well, he took off in June and hasn't stopped. That's about 55-ish games or so (not sure of the exact total). Edit: .346/.360/.636/.996 since June 1st (58 games). That's still far less than three months. But yeah, since then he's been great. May 17th is the day he sort of took off...it's about 71 games, actually. Overall this year, he's been about the 21st best hitter in baseball. But if you picked it up from May 17th, I'll bet he'd be top 10.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) You do know who Mike Trout is, no? Or Andrew McCutchen? Some dude named Ryan Braun, I don't know, hitting the baseball really well? Has Rios had a fine bounce-back season? Yes. Has he been the White Sox best player? No doubt. Best in baseball? No, no, no. He's hit .360 for about the last 80 games. He's definitely been amongst the best hitters in baseball for 3/4 of the year.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 09:02 AM) The phrase "All men are created equal" means nothing to a larger section of society. Clearly it was meant to be all white wealthy aristocratic men.
