  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) I had a bball game tonight so I couldn't watch. Stats look good but how'd Christopher look?q Solid. Velocity was back to 94 quite consistently.
  2. There always has, always is, and always will be ignorant assholes in the world. Not much you can do about it. Raise awareness or not.
  3. 30-24 gets us to #90...
  4. Another great win where we got the winning runs late in the game. Baseball is fun again on the Southside!
  5. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) Ended up buying a Ford Focus hatchback, with all the pkgs but the parking assist. Congrats, Russ! She's a beauty!
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 04:39 PM) Usain Bolt was hanging out with the Swedish Women's Handball Team until 3AM I've read there is a lot of sex going on in the Olympic Village during the Games...it's pretty legendary, as I recall...
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) Well fine, you will not be invited to the wedding when her and I get married! You're just ticked that I stood you up for LL Cool J. You won't be invited to my 3-some with the Czech women's beach volleyball team.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) I'm so in love with Alex Morgan. We're happy for you! I'm in love with the Czech women's beach volleyball team.
  9. No. They would not put Danks through some alternate recovery program premised on resting and then rehab of the shoulder so that they could acquire a SP more cheaply. It is pretty clear that they genuinely believed he could recover with rest and rehab. It didn't work. Oh well. They cut their losses and will now go forward with the surgery.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:48 AM) It's very hard not to like Francisco Liriano, especially at the price at which it's possible he could be resigned. However, with the somewhat girth of (relatively mediocre) starting pitching that the White Sox have accumulated in the last few years, it's hard to assume or have any idea as to what the rotation is going to look like going into next season. And, even though the Royals did it with 4 terrible left handed starting pitchers in 2004 (Darrell May, Brian Anderson, Jimmy Gobble, and Jeremy Affeldt), it's generally not a good idea to have 4 left handed starting ptichers. So, if you have Sale, Quintana, and Liriano in the rotation, you are assuming either that you are going to go with a 6 man rotation or that you assume Danks simply won't be back next year. Now, considering Danks underwent this shoulder surgery in August, it doesn't rule out the possibility of him coming back mid-year. If that's the case, I actually want him as a bullpen arm down the stretch. It's not something he's ever done before, but that will build up the strength in his shoulder relatively quickly and will put him at a spot come the offseason of 13-14 where he can move back into the rotation, and the Sox can then make a decision on Sale/Quintana/Liriano, if one of them doesn't crap the bed before that (which, knowing the inexperience of the middle and the inconsistency of the latter, is likely to happen anyways). All we can do is hope that it all comes after the Sox win a World Series. They're hanging blow-for-blow with what I believe to be the best team in the league right now. Is this really the prognosis for him? He's going to be out until midyear?
  11. Mendoza pitched well against us last time out...need to have a bit of a better showing against this fool.
  12. So I'm assuming Liriano is going to be fine and they aren't too worried about the Serpent's innings...
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 07:12 PM) If we're handing out rings on Opening Day next season, I expect Peavy and Youk to be in Sox uniforms to get them. Yeah, exactly. There is no way to even speculate on most of these guys at this point. A lot depends on a potential postseason run. A Championship would change everything.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 12:41 AM) Got the central regional director position! Congrats, Russ! I'm sure it was some kind of error and they will soon be on to their folly! J/K

    2012 Book Thread

Just finished GoT....great book! Does the first season pretty much mirror the plot of the book? I am not going to ruin anything for A Clash of Kings by watching season 1?
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) I hope it is Detroit and they have to deal with the rest of that contract. Me too...I would love to see it be them and take on the whole contract.
  17. He can block trades to all but 8 clubs...
  18. Dewayne can pitch for us too! Greg will be overjoyed.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Well at least Michael appears to be rowing away from him....or then again....he is turning his head around. Hurry and run Harlan!! I'm pretty sure he just stole these from Field & Stream anyways...
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) Great shots! Also, is that you in the kayak shot or fictional mass murderer Michael Myers? Since he claims to be the photographer, it must be Michael Myers.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 06:31 AM) Yeah Vegas is wicked cheap. When I went we stayed in a suite at the Monte Carlo for like 89/night. Vegas is only expensive if you make it that way with gambling/drinking/etc... Well why the hell would you go to Vegas if not to gamble and drink? Vegas is just different. Most vacations you go on, you have an idea of what it's going to cost you, what you'll spend from night to night... With Vegas, I always had an uneasy feeling because I just never knew what the hell might happen...
  22. Happy Birthday, fellas. Enjoy your day!
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 11:31 PM) Which is why I heavily rely on reviews when I research a product to buy. The reviews on the Zune HD were GLOWING. And they were right. Alright, so I should concede that it was a nice device, however, I wouldn't say the reviews were glowing: CNET
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 12:12 AM) I just can't see him signing for less than four years if he's healthy at season's end. I'd say three years 17 million a year would be an offer he'd laugh at in this market. I think someone will probably offer him something stupid, but you don't think his injury history and his diminished stuff (regardless of how well he has pitched this year, he is certainly not the pitcher he was 5 years ago) should impact his market? I would be very nervous about signing him if he was coming from another team for the kind of money you're talking about.
