  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 22, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) Steve and Andrew have ensured our Never Forget campaign will live on forever Paulie would want it that way...
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) This thread needs to be split up and remembered forever and ever and ever I'm going to get it tattoo'd on my back...
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) Somebody with some photoshop skills needs to make a "Never forget" signature with a slumped over Paulie and an American flag in the background. Steve, your table is waiting...
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) The funny thing is how much more focused the Sox appeared to be Saturday/Sunday after the incident on Friday. Assuming Konerko suffers no lasting effects, the events on Friday could be a huge turning point for the team this year. We may forgive, but we will never forget!

    QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 22, 2012 -> 06:34 AM) There's absolutely no reason why Idris wouldn't be an awesome Bond, I think Luther proves this. Yeah, agreed...what an awesome role for him this character is...I can't get enough of the guy...just an incredible actor.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) Not sure, but if they do, I bet the line will get back and stretch around the block. Stretch!
  7. I wasn't aware that Vin Scully still did road games...
  8. Henry Rodriguez can't throw a strike to save his life...looks like Sean Burnett might be taking the closer role from him, although, he's a lefty...and we know how that usually turns out...

    QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 21, 2012 -> 06:29 PM) Laid off about 1/3 of staff today. I avoided the axe but I'll be updating my resume tonight. Glad to hear you avoided that, SS...what line(s) of work would you be looking at exactly?
  10. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 21, 2012 -> 05:06 PM) That's how I interpreted it. Both Chicago managers seem intently focused on maintaining and even keel, and I don't see Sveum taking the backhand to the Sox. He's got other things to worry about. I understand that...I just thought he could have articulated it in a way that would have been a bit more gracious in defeat, considering how badly we kicked their ass all over the field.
  11. Probably not the right thread for this, but did anyone catch Sveum's postgame conference yesterday? He said something to the effect of "We were getting it together for a week, and then this last week...we haven't won a game...and then we get swept by the White Sox at home...I mean how much lower can it get than that?" I found that to be mildly offensive, honestly. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that he was just referring to it being a rivalry and the team was disappointed to get swept by their cross-town mates...but it sure sounded as though he was saying we sucked to me...

    QUOTE (Brian @ May 18, 2012 -> 08:56 AM) Season 2 is incredible The 8 bit Community was genius. Great casting as well, like always. Finished season 1 and 2 of Luther this weekend....awesome, awesome show. Can't wait for season 3 to air.
  13. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ May 21, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) I think it fired up the club, especially Beckham. I loved the locker room interview with AJ where he said Beckham had to stick up for his dad or something like that and thats why he had the play at second and hit the homer. Yeah, they mentioned that on the telecast yesterday afternoon...if that's what it takes...works for me....
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 21, 2012 -> 08:30 AM) Stone had a nice analysis of the pitch on the SCORE they broke down the video and it showed that he was trying to snap the splitter off too much and it came out of the side of his hand which was why Konerko did not pick it up properly. Stone thinks he will be back tomorrow and better than ever. Anyone else think that Konerko getting hit may have done a bit of good as it keep two hot bats in the lineup without having to explain why Konerko would be out and let them play positions they were comfortable with? This assumes Paul comes back tomorrow and does not miss a beat. Yeah, I don't think it hurt us too badly, since we just kept Dunn and Viciedo in the lineup...didn't really miss a beat. May have fired up the club a bit too...
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ May 21, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) What were your guys' reactions when it first happened? I was honestly pretty scared, especially after seeing guys like Derrick Rose suffer a terrible injury and even recalling Urlacher's disgusting injury in game 16. You would have thought it was my first born son getting hit with a baseball the way I reacted. My best friend in Chicago was texting me on Saturday saying he was "beside himself and could not get PK out of his mind." I got a good chuckle out of that.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2012 -> 09:09 AM) The crutches would be bats. Paulie would have wanted it that way. I dunno...I think he might have wanted to use bats as crutches...
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 21, 2012 -> 07:42 AM) The eyepatch would be nice, but I think he should have come out in crutches. Would he have used one of the crutches as a bat?

    QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 20, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) Whatever you do, don't go to school just because it's something else to do and a way out of the current job. You better have a damn good reason to go, and a long-term vision. I think at this stage, too many people just throw their hands up and say "I'll go back to school" because they either can't find a job, or they want out of their current one and it essentially buys them time. When in reality, it's costing them a ton of money and they may be wasting time when it's not what they actually want to do. Basically doing it out of fear, as it's a "safe route" for the present. I don't know if there's an exact time frame to stay at a first job, it all depends on circumstances...what you are getting paid, what you are learning, room for growth, skills you are obtaining, etc. I don't think it's only "6 months or one year." I would not quit something without another position lined up. At worst, you have a paycheck coming in, and it's much easier to find a job when you have one. It's a lot easier on your mental health, that's for sure. I'm not telling you to go/not go to school. But don't just do it because you have no other plan. It could be a huge mistake down the line when you ask yourself why the hell you did it and you're riddled with a ton of debt, and maybe not even find a job once that's done as well. I agree...the cost of schooling is getting so far out of line that the best way to go back and get an advanced degree is to get your employer to help pay for it...it may take a bit longer or force you to attend some evening classes, but you'll certainly be appreciative when you finish and your rent/mortgage is still your highest monthly bill, instead of your school loans.
  19. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 21, 2012 -> 07:32 AM) So, are they going to do another commercial with Paulie getting hit in the face? Since he didn't stay in the game, they could center the commercial around how much of a gentleman he is by not blaming the pitcher. "Paul Konerko truly appreciates the game" Hah, I was thinking of that commercial too...He should have come out with an eye patch...but then someone might have wanted to see how tough he was and we wouldn't want him to end up in a roadside ditch...
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ May 20, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Blue Jays have closer problems? What about that terrible trade of our young closer to the Jays??? He was on the dl
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) Anywho, good work to these 3. Greg called it too, I believe
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) I'll give you a sqwert, pal. Sorry, couldn't resist...you know I love you
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) Wife: What does he mean he just missed that one? That barely went past the infield. LOL Just 1/32nd of an inch, Sqwert...your wife should be pretty fluent in measurements of that size...
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) Seriously, it's impressive how rapidly his last outing has been forgotten. I still like him...I know I am in the minority...but we have to figure out what creates that nasty movement he has once every 3 times or so and make that happen all the time...I don't think he's being used particularly well.
