  1. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:26 PM) I think everyone knows they have a run in them and they could possibly win. They're still down by 19 at halftime though. No way the Spurs have a 15 point quarter tonight either.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) If LeBron wants to be Jordan he'll go absolutely off this half. I'm intrigued to see how he responds here. He could fold like he did against the Celtics
  3. Bron Bron with another no show as his team is getting blown out. Take the ball in the post. You either score or get fouled 90 percent of the time. Why the hell wont you do it?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/201..._medium=twitter Michael Wallace @WallaceNBA_ESPN Chris Bosh tells Miami Herald's Barry Jackson he, LeBron and Wade have never discussed bringing in Carmelo. "It's very, very unlikely." • LeBon, Wade and Bosh would each have to leave more than $6 million a year on the table, ‘Melo more than $9 from his max. All may be willing to take a little less, but that’s not a little (we will have more coming later on the financing of this idea). I have a hard time believing two reporters just made that up. Windhorst is Lebron's ghost writer and has been since his Cleveland days so...
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) Or women, lol. So what are some of your favorite movies of the last 3-5 years (and I promise not to rip on them...since I generally find something likable about nearly every movie I watch)? I'm sure i'm missing some, but looking at a list of some movies the last couple of years: Serious movie category: Gravity, Lincoln, Captain Phillips, Argo (although slightly overrated), Flight, King's Speech Actiony summer blockbuster category: Zero Dark Thirty, Inception, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Hunger Games (not great, but I enjoyed both), the Star Trek reboots were good, Nolan's Batman movies were good (though I seriously wonder if Chicago wasn't prominently featured how much I would really like them. The 2nd is clearly the best), Skyfall, the two Hobbit movies (nostalgia mostly) Comedies: 21 Jump Street, This is the End, The Internship, Bridesmaids, Horrible Bosses... "Other" movies: Spring Breakers I liked, pretty much all of the Pixar/animated movies i've had to watch and have liked most of them for what they are.
  6. Certainly not if your position is that we're all doomed and the country is lost. I'm just saying, let's start by being in reality. Then we can talk about how to get better.
  7. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 10:40 PM) I gotta believe this is just a giant troll. The story or my post? I'm being dead serious. Sure, i'd tune in to watch some of the games to see how they played together. But there's no way in hell i'm watching 70+ Bulls games. I'll absolutely turn into J4L and ask, what's the point? They have no shot. At least in the past they had an arguable chance, even if it wasn't likely. edit: and as a general NBA fan, at least right now there are a handful of teams that could hang with Miami. Again, a semblance of a non-Heat winner. If this Big Four happens that goes out the window.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) It's Magary, of course he's being over the top. Did not read the other 31 countries' descriptions? That was the entire point of the article. Eh, sorta. He's obviously being a little over the top with it, but I read all of his stuff and he's made mention of this before.
  9. I love Magary, but he and Greg and others like them need to gain some historical perspective. The US has been in worse shape in the past. MUCH worse.
  10. What a bunch of p*****s. If that happens, so long NBA. I won't watch another minute, and I hope everyone else does the same.

Damn I'm old. Lost debuted 10 years ago today. AV Club is doing a rewatch: http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/lost-classic-pilot-205659
  12. Apparently he broke into the family guns that were securely locked. So, again, mental health checks, registration, blah blah would not have prevented this.
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 10:27 AM) One completely non-partisan aspect of that race that should make "get money out of politics" people happy is that Cantor lost despite outspending his opponent 20:1. Cantor's campaign spent more money just at steakhouse dinners than David Brat spent on his entire campaign. So recent campaign finance decisions increasing the amount of spending on elections maybe won't matter afterall? Guess we'll have to see if this happens again. It's so rare though, over 90% of incumbents win re-election.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) That doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me. Sounds like sour grapes. To gather a rebound you have to box out (on a man) and be in a good rebounding position. Both of those are huge positives. If he left his man it would most likely be a layup resulting in no rebound. So the theory doesnt correlate. That's the point. He/they sucked on defense, and the complaint is that he's too stat driven to give a crap about playing that half of the game.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) Nope, D for effort. edit: but it does highlight that regardless of what proposals anyone comes up with, they'll be decried as ineffectual and needless by people who oppose gun restrictions. When they're made in response to random acts of violence that happen to involve guns, they are for the most part.
  16. "People have offered up ineffectual and needless bills, so it's unfair to criticize them for the ineffectual and needless bills that have not become law. Instead, we should point the finger at the people who are against the ineffectual and needless bills." Is that the gist?
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) You're becoming the Simon Cowell of SoxTalk critics, haha. If only I had his $$.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) I don't understand the concept of getting out of position to get a rebound. If he got the rebound, it's a lot better than being in postion, whatever that means, and having an opponent get the rebound. Love does have his warts. His D is a big concern. His play down the stretch of games. But he's a pretty sweet player. It would be a huge committment, both financially and with players and/or draft picks to get him, so the negative on him will always come out, but the Bulls can't continue business as usual or their window will close. Sometimes you have to take a risk, and this seems like a pretty good one if they can get him. I think his point was that he would leave his man to get into rebounding position, opening up better shots. He was sacrificing his responsibilities for the sake of getting the stat. I'm not saying the guy isn't a great player. I just think he's a really good, all-start caliber player whose stats might be a little inflated given who he has played for and who he has had to play with.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 09:31 AM) 26-12-4 at age 25 is very similar to Charles Barkley. When he came into the league, he wasn't a 3 point shooter. He has gotten better every year. That a player like him is available at this age is incredible. On a really bad team though. I read somewhere, maybe a Zach Lowe article, that a lot of his teammates don't like him because he pads stats. Gets out of position to get a rebound, for example.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 09:51 AM) ESPN Stats & Info ‏@ESPNStatsInfo 10h Game 3 winner of a tied NBA Finals series goes on to win the series 83 percent of the time (30-6) Unfortunately, one of those 6 was the Spurs last year.
  21. Even if what you say is true, the fact remains that there hasn't been an uptick in crime either. So the vigilante nonsense is just that, nonsense.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 08:35 AM) The Heat as a team actually shot the ball incredibly well. LeBron shooting more wasn't really the answer although his turnovers hurt them a lot yesterday. The real issue for the Heat is that you simply aren't going to win when the other team shoots 60% from the floor, 45% on 20 3 attempts and gets to the line 32 times while making over 80%. I disagree completely. He scored 14 of his 22 in the 1st quarter. After that, he disappeared.
  23. This is the type of game that the LeBron haters love. He should have at least tried to take over at some point but never did. Wade yet again was the Heat's best player. Reminded me of that Dallas series when Lebron was way too passive.
  24. Its unreal. Parker got no calls, Heat getting every touch foul. Still, an impressive implosion.
