  1. Time to not be the Bulls or Thibs, trade people away and tank the s*** out of this team. Come back next year with Rose, Butler, Mirotic some draft picks and a couple of free agents and maybe Noah.
  2. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 11:18 PM) You forgot the good major, did not hear his name once. That major is Major Wright. He and Conte are god awful as is Bush. The rest of the defense is doing what they can but those asswipes were being counted and they both suck. I can't blame Major Wright and Conte for being exposed so much in the running game. I'm not sure there are any safeties in football that can go one on one with NFL caliber running backs and look good. Their coverage sucks, so bash them on that, that's fine. But the running portion of that isn't totally their fault. They need guys up front and in the middle to help and they don't. They're getting blown by all the time.
  3. Order of Mario Kart Awesomeness: 1. Mario Kart 64 2. Mario Kart Double Dash 3. Mario Kart Wii 4. Super Mario Kart
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 02:13 PM) I don't mind the call, but you have to get in the endzone. We don't have a good offensive line so you have to try something other than a play that is solely determined by your line They're about 0-7 on that very play this year. I can't recall one ever picking up positive yardage.
  5. Stupid play call. Trestman sucks at short yardage calls
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 23, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) The MRI is unnecessary anyway. The ACL is torn. Rose already told his teammates it's the same injury. The Bulls 'fear' it's torn. the doc rubbed his knee I'm sure and realized (hey, the giant tendon is split). Where did u read that about him saying it was the same?
  7. I thought with acl tears you can still walk around. Sounds like Rose couldnt put any pressure on it. Im hoping its a really bad sprain and he'll just be out a few weeks.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 23, 2013 -> 12:04 PM) No it was in the last minute of the game and there is some science that suggests ACL injuries can be related to fatigue. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19568192 https://digital.library.txstate.edu/bitstre....pdf?sequence=2 But whats done is done. Sigh. This is a stupid argument. Rose played like thirty games all season prior to his ACL tear. He was well rested. Just like this new injury. He's been off for 18 months. Blaming it on Thibs or Rose's minute load is moronic.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 04:34 PM) You dont understand being a Jew . Just because they died, doesnt mean their words meant nothing. Just because they died, doesnt mean their lives were meaningless. They meant something, their deaths meant something, their struggle meant something, their words meant something. Im sorry, but the Anne Frank's diary means something. Her words mean something, her death means something. It probably means more than had she killed 100 Nazis with guns before she died. Because her words will live on, because hopefully her words will make other people better people, hopefully her words will help stop the next Hitler if there ever is one. Because if you can live in an attic, watch your family get murdered, watch your friends turn on you and want you dead, and still believe this: You have power. They haven't, unfortunately.
  10. We're talking about words and guns in the context of defeating Hitler/Fascism, not whether the suffering of the Jews means something greater in the grand scheme of life.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) A friend of mine and i were just discussing older games that we got rid of, lost, or lent to a friend and had them go missing, only to find out that they are worth a lot of money now. I lent a friend a gamecube game 3 years ago called Eternal Darkness, and his sister lost it(or took/stole/sold it. whatever, its gone) Its going for 90 bucks on amazon now Not that i want to sell it, I actually want to play it. I still have a copy of that. It's yours for....$90 bucks!
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) But here is the odd thing Jenks, I know these people and most of them dont agree with you. There was no standing up to Hitler after he gained control of the Govt. That was the moment you could have stopped Hitler, with words and ideas. If the German people would have said "NO", if they would not voted for Nazis, if they had revolted against the disbanding of govt and the institution of emergency powers. That was the time when you had a chance. And again, I don't necessarily disagree, but your point is pretty meaningless here. Words won out in the beginning and then when it was too late words didn't matter. Probably not, but I'm sure they would have liked the opportunity. And some did fight back, with guns, and survived, like the Bielski brothers. 6 million didn't. And i'm sure all 6 millions of them protested what was happening to them as it was happening. In that respect, words meant nothing.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) He was named prime minister following a closely-divided election after his party kept coming closer and closer to actually being able to put him as prime minister. How would guns have played into that at all? Shooting people as they attempted to vote? Shooting Hindenberg before he could name Hitler PM? Hitler and his brown shirts drummed up a lot of "support." An armed uprising might have stopped him, but I don't think there was a group with guns to do that. That's my point.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) What? It's not like Germany had a major standing army to stop Hitler or the Nazi party once is started to gain influence. The country was in shambles for the better part of the 20's and 30's.
  15. SB I think you're technically right that words could have stopped Hitler, but it's sort of a meaningless point. At the time you needed to stop the Nazi's (i.e., after it was too late) you needed more than words to do it. I'm sure 6 millions Jews would have liked the opportunity to have a gun and fight back instead of being put into small districts and camps where they complained and argued (i.e., used words) to no avail.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) And Ive never said he didnt. Ive just said all things being equal, a pen will ultimately beat a sword. And Hitler is proof of this. Hitler had no sword to start, only a pen. And he was able to topple all of the swords/guns of Germany, not with a gun, with an idea. Germany had no guns to stop him when he rose to power though.
  17. If you look at the situation in the narrowest possible way, sure. But you seem to ignore the entire aftermath once someone gets into power. They use force. Hitler and the Nazi's used force. That's when words stop meaning anything and it shifts towards those who have guns and the means to inflict the most damage and control the masses.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) What would have happened had you tried to use words against Stalin? I'm sure he would have totally changed his actions! But only if you asked nicely.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 02:39 PM) Many Jews survived the holocaust with out a gun. Yeah that is right, they survived Auschwitz, Buchenwald, without guns. They survived in the Ghettos of Poland, without guns. So there is no correlation between having a gun and surviving as a Jew in the holocaust. And the best way to have beaten the Nazis was with words, not guns. Had the world stood up to Hitler, had they not appeased him, had the people of Germany said "no" to his ideas, guns would not have been necessary. There was a sizeable portion of the German population that DIDN'T want Hitler or the Nazi's or the direction they were taking the country and they DID say no. And Hitler beat them up and/or killed them. Words are worthless when the side you're up against has guns.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 02:07 PM) Here's a question for the TV experts around here. My dad got himself a TV for Christmas last year...I don't remember all the details short of it being a Vizio 46" LCD/LED Smart TV. Anyway, he's gotten very frustrated with one particular thing is does. When changing channels and the picture format of the new channel is different from the former (usually switching between 720p and 1080i), the lag time before it renders a picture is quite long. I'm not sure what causes this -- they're looking for another TV for a different room and their only strategy so far is to avoid Vizio, which may or may not be the thing to do. I have no idea how to advise them to look for a TV that is less likely to be slow like that when changing channels. Does he have a cable box? Most likely it's coming from that. My directv receivers do this on all of my tv's, although I wouldn't say it's a long delay. A second or two maybe.
  21. The more I read about the PS4 the more I want one. The Xbox One, I dunno. The Kinect stuff is so unnecessary and just doesn't interest me and yet it's the key selling point of the system.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) Water has drowned a ton of people. Drain the oceans!!!!!!

I've got a Van Dyke so I end up just using my beard trimmers without the guard on my cheeks and neck. I did the real razor but for a while but it just wasn't worth it and the electric razor always pulled on my goatee.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) The money would come from taxation, I thought that was obvious. Getting rid of taxes would be quite the boon for the wealthy, but it wouldn't help the poor and middle class all that much. Neither would the global collapse of society. edit: I also don't see how eliminating taxes would do anything to change the balance of power in the labor market, either. You could tax the wealthy 100% and not get enough revenue to pay for this.
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) What? No, of course not. You're still coupling income with employment, when a UBI specifically decouples them. Everyone gets a basic income check from the government, enough to ensure a basic or subsistence-level life style. Whatever other employment you have on top of that is your own issue. People would start working because most people want to be and enjoy being productive, active members of society. I could quit my current job, reduce my stress levels and take a less-taxing job earning less money, but I don't because I generally enjoy what I do and the added income. They might not work horrible jobs for s*** pay with asshole bosses and companies that treat them like dirt, but I see that as a 100% positive thing. Where does the money come to fund this? Why not just get rid of taxes?
