  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 11:28 AM) Bush let 9/11 happen on his watch and he was re-elected. Most people cant remember 3 years ago. Of all the reasons Hillary wont be president, Benghazi probably doesnt even register. Im pretty sure #1 reason is: Hillary is a woman and there is X percentage of the population who wont vote for a women. Thus for Hillary to win shell have to do X percentage better than a normal candidate. Yep, and we'll never have a black president either. GMAB.

BB is officially overtaking The Sopranos and The Wire on my all time best TV shows list. The Wire was great but had at least two seasons that were just OK (or portions of seasons that were just OK - the dock storyline and the newspaper storyline). And most of the middle of The Sopranos was just meh. BB is just thrilling. Nearly every episode has an edge-of-your-seat moment. Think about the dinner scene with hank/marie and walt/skyler. Like 20 words were said but it lasted 5 minutes and was f***ing insane. And then you have the DVD scene. And then you have the Walter/Jesse conversation in the desert. And then you have the Jesse/Saul scene at the end. I mean geez. There's no holding back with this show.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) Yea, Morgan is awesome in a "Lets not forget about the 40s" kind of way http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/mmc/range2.html lol That Caddy Concept looks like a cadillac got busy with a Sebring Those cars are bad ass. If those were even remotely affordable I'd get one.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) Really, you have evidence that a wave is taking place? Please supply. http://www.kxly.com/news/spokane-news/elde...iz/-/index.html There were also several "black teen mob beats up white couple" stories on the east coast during or shortly after the Zimmerman trial as well. A "wave" of violence is obviously nonsense, but lets not pretend there wasn't a backlash with the use of violence.
  5. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 01:28 PM) Yeah, I really look forward to the Hillary presidency so i can be called a sexist instead of a racist for a change every time i disagree with her. Lol, bingo. Also LOL at liberals who think this is the end of the Republican party. Opinions change ("homosexuality is immoral...oh wait, i'm ok with it because I can get votes and I need California money!"). Guys with D's next to their name were against civil rights legislation the most (and some of them just happened to remain democrats until they died) Hi!
  6. Maybe the best training video of all time: Skip to 4:40 to begin the fun.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 06:10 AM) That's what's so annoying about all of these "OMG! Why isn't this a national story!?" facebook posts. The people posting them obviously still do not get, at all, why there was so much frustration and anger at the start of the TM saga and why these other stories aren't similar. I get your point, and I generally agree that "omg where's the coverage? this is totally the same type of story!" complaint is wrong here. But the message being made is that if racism is the most terrible thing in the world, there should be the same sort of public outcry when a black person kills a white person based on nothing but race. There's no call for community meetings or a change of perception of black gang culture, etc. You complain that people need to stop being so racist when viewing black people with hoodies. Where's the call for black gang bangers to stop seeing whites as revenge bait? Yes, it's common sense that these things are wrong and it really should go without saying what a tragedy this is, but that doesn't mean Al and Jesse and the like can't stand on their pulpit and talk about how those sorts of acts actually hurt race relations in this country; how that sort of thinking and behavior is totally unacceptable because it fuels racism against all people. Instead they send out PR tweets that it's sad and then they move on to the next minority victim story. Can you honestly sit there and say that if white teens killed a young black athlete simply because he was black, there wouldn't be more of an outrage about the state of racism in this country?
  8. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) Absolute disregard for a human being. What a waste of oxygen. Was it hot that night. Is that why they killed an 88 year old veteran. Beats working. Blame whitey. Wouldn't even be a trial if I found them. Slow and painful in a wood chipper sounds about right, one appendage at a time. Hey al and Jesse who can we shake down? f***ing silence from those black s***bags. They sent out a tweet. It's all good.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 08:03 PM) Zimmerman was only arrested after months of public outcry and after the DA was replaced. The public demanded an investigation in the first place which the local law enforcement refused to do. This was also well after the President was asked about the case. So as soon as the police drop te charges here, you will have a point. Revisionist history.
  10. Sigh. This thread shows how f***ed up and s***ty our political system is. I've said it before, and i'll say it again a thousand times, the south park guys got it so right a decade ago:
  11. What an awful choice. He had to be plan F or something. I can't believe he'd be their first choice. Do people forget this train wreck?
  12. Decent article on Cutler: http://thebiglead.com/2013/08/22/jay-cutle...erback-in-2013/ In sum, he's had s*** for players around him and still managed to be decent. With better players and a better offensive coordinator, he could break out this year.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 05:16 PM) Wth a few kids and limited time I like the dual running of good shows Breaking Bad/Hell on Wheels SOA/Boardwalk Mad Men/GOT Everything else is filler Hell on Wheels is back? AMC has done a terrible job marketing it. I had no idea and I enjoyed the first 2 seasons.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) I'm with you, but every time I tell someone that, I get yelled at. Don't get me wrong, it's not the greatest show on TV, but it's the best reality show on right now (Sorry Challenge fans/people trying to remember the glory days of the early 00's and college). It's not look at me, look at me, look at me! like the rest of them. And it has some funny parts here and there. Plus, it allows me to dream of being insanely rich in a small town where I can literally do whatever the hell I want, whenever I want.

Couple random TV thoughts since it's close to 5 and i'm mentally checked out of this brief i'm working on: 1) True Blood's season finale might have been the worst season finale in the history of television. I am now officially done with that show. Did anyone else watch it? 2) Duck Dynasty is great. I laughed at my parents for recommending it last year, and then I started watching the (endless) re-runs leading up to last weeks premiere. It seems that I am one of millions that hopped on the bandwagon late. 3) Under the Dome seems to be getting worse and worse. I missed the last one but my wife gave it a big meh. Not sure I'll stick with that. 4) Saw a preview for Boardwalk the other night. Very excited.
  16. I'm not really sold on either new console. They don't appear to be a huge leap in technology. They've focused on crap I don't care about (motion/kinect, social media integration), and at least for the foreseeable future all of the best games will still be available on current gen systems.
  17. Being an attorney, I would probably not spend money on getting someone to draft you a will unless you have a complex situation (big estate, step kids, feuding family members, etc.). *runs away from the family law bar association mob* If it's simply you and your wife and your kid and you want them to have everything, you don't even need a will. If you're the type that can research something and then apply what you've learned, there are plenty of resources online for this kind of stuff. The only other consideration is if you have a strong feeling as to who should raise your kid if you and your wife die. But that's pretty easy to spell out in a will. Life insurance - go see someone about that. My advice is to do what I did for my son and what my parents did for me: There's some product out there (I don't know the name, my dad, a financial planner/adviser, set it all up for me) where you, the parent, contribute for the first 18 years of the kids life X amount a year. When the kid turns 18, the account becomes self-funding. You just re-invest the earnings on the account until the day he/she dies. The amount of the policy also increases the longer he/she lives. Not sure what DOA stands for.
  18. That must suck to go from college star, NFL starter and multi-millionaire to low level drug dealer. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/b...,0,479646.story

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 10:35 PM) What the hell, did the miss Vince Gilligan's preview of the next episode???? They put it in the first commercial break of the new show they're trying to sell. It sucks, but i've found that not knowing ANYTHING about what's going to happen in the coming episode adds to the excitement.
  20. I was really impressed with Forte last night. He looks like he really slimmed down. If he's out in the flat and can get more room to run that's going to be great.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) jesus christ edit: you know what's funny about the whole "white guilt" nonsense deflection is that it doesn't actually say anything about why non-white people might have a problem with something. It just casually dismisses their concerns entirely. No, not really. Me dismissing the opinions of white people full of white guilt doesn't lessen my acknowledgement of TRUE racism as a problem in this country. Unless it's Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton inflaming the situation, I generally tend to take a black person's word when they say something is racist. But that's kind of the problem - the majority of "OMG THAT'S SO RACIST" reactions come from white people. And it's that segment of white people that fall over themselves telling other people - including black people!- what is and is not racist. They go so far as to ARGUE with black people about what racism means. And they do so because they (1) feel awful for what generations past have done and (2) fear being seen as one of those people.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 02:19 PM) yes, white guys caricaturing black guys is really historically problematic, which is why people white people full of white guilt have an issue with this. Agreed.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) The "insane overreaction" came from a wide range of people, including Missouri Republicans. I don't think they're known for being big Obama fans. edit: Blackface is incredibly offensive because of its history and its usage to make caricatures out of black people. You can argue that wearing the mask isn't the same as painting your face black, but many people perceive it as little different and still offensive. That will never apply to somebody of any race wearing a white mask specifically because the historical context is not there. That doesn't mean anyone who isn't black who wears an Obama mask is racist or engaging in blackface (as least as far as I'd argue), but when it's being done literally to clown and caricature him, it's not exactly hard to see why people have a problem with this. It's not that the mask had big lips (I'm sure it was a regular mask) but that another rodeo clown came up and bobbled the lips. African Americans have frequently been caricatured with big lips, and this was seen in that light. I'm not presuming this guy must be racist because he dared to make fun of Obama. I'm interpreting his actions as racist because they utilized historically problematic elements and outright racist caricatures. He's a white guy trying to look/act like a black guy. That's the only historically problematic element here.
  24. Just admit this was an insane overreaction due solely to the fact that Obama is black. One of the guys involved said they've used masks of other Presidents before. And guess what, no outrage. The whole idea is to show a "dummy" looking silly being chased down by a bull (i.e., like a clown). How is that racist anymore than the actors in Point Break using Reagan/Carter/etc masks being ageist? Seriously, explain what i'm missing here. The fact that you claimed the mask had big lips (even though i'm pretty sure that's the same mask found in stores, but maybe i'm wrong) just proves you're inserting a racial component into this story that simply doesn't exist. You're presuming this clown must be racist because he dared to make fun of Obamajesus.
