I’m more focused on pitch count than inning count. If he’s at less than 100 pitches, I’m absolutely ok with him throwing 7 innings.

Against a solid schedule too. That’s the part I like. Not just beating up on the Royals and Pirates.

There will be adversity along the way and they’ve already experienced some. I just don’t see another team in the division near the same level of the Sox. If Cleveland had an offense, they’d be right there.

Oh, he already made it to a 5 inning start, in his second start lol. Still stretching out but I fully expect a 7 inning outing at some point later this month. Only 2 starts in but 9 innings, 3 hits, 1 ER thus far looks the part of a future ace to me..

And some fans here actually thought another team besides the Sox was going to win the Central?

lol. If the Sox were 2-5 instead of 5-2, the haters would be out in FULL force. Think they’d give them the team a pass since it’s only a “week of games”?

Considering Keuchel only had 4 less wins last season despite a terrible year, I don’t think this is a stretch at all. Wouldn’t surprise me either. I just prefer not to see him starting a game in October and, if the top 4 are healthy, he shouldn’t. Lynn, Giolito, Cease, and Kopech should be extremely formidable unless they run into a team like Houston from last year that just crushes righties.

I’m basing it on Nick’s play last season. The glove was very shaky. Harrison won’t hit like Madrigal but he’s a big upgrade defensively. Can see that already. And Burger might be able to hit as well or better than Nick when you consider the whole package while playing comparable defense at 2b (both below average).

Nice to have depth for a change. Harrison hasn’t hit but he’s played excellent defense. Either way, good problem to have and both look like better options at 2b than Madrigal this year.

? for a team like the Sox where anything less than a WS appearance is a disappointment, it’s all about October these days. Need guys performing at a high level in October. That may be the one silver lining with the Lynn and Giolito early season injuries. Maybe it keeps them fresher come October.

They steamrolled the Red Sox too. No idea how the Braves beat them. Apparently, the October version of the Braves was a bad matchup for the rest of MLB. Baseball can be weird like that.

Also comical that people are still ripping the FO despite a 5-2 start while losing their top two starting pitchers and three starting position players to injury. All I heard this offseason was how little depth they have. Well, despite the injuries, they still look head and shoulders above Detroit and better than two potential playoff teams in Seattle and Tampa. If guys like VV and Lambert are starting games in October then criticize the FO all you want but as long as it’s April and the Sox are still winning, who gives a shit.

Way too early to say. He was great last spring too. Gotta see where he’s at come September. Sox need ALL their pitchers to step up in October or they aren’t going far in the playoffs. Hopefully Houston was just a bad matchup last season and they don’t get paired with an equally bad matchup this year.

He finished last season with a -0.7 fWAR. Will he beat that this season? Maybe -1.5 fWAR if he gets enough ABs?

Which would be huge considering they only need #5 starter type numbers from him this year.

And should be 5-0. Detroit was lucky to win the opener. Sox have led in the 9th inning of every game so far this season.

If this keeps up, Gravemen is going to be the best value free agent signing of the 2021-2022 offseason. He looks amazing. Great pickup by Hahn.

Detroit is a 75 win team this season imo. Not good but not terrible either. Seattle is a borderline playoff team.

Let’s see. Top 2 starting pitchers injured, third best RP injured, starting 3b injured, starting RF injured, starting SS suspended for first two games and a 3-1 start. So this is what it feels like to be a Dodgers fan huh?
