  1. Not sure how you could pick anyone other than Grandal, especially when he received the highest contract in franchise history while the other two are making league minimum.
  2. The guy they’re teeing off now is a righty as well correct?
  3. Not watching the game. Are the Indians throwing lefties today? Not sure how else Sox would have 7 runs in less than 6 innings.
  4. Not sure. All I know if Giolito’s ERA is nearly 6 again (yes, I know today’s start skewed it) but if he ends the season with like a 4.5-5 ERA it certainly makes you wonder if the catcher and pitch calling has any impact on those results...
  5. Pretty soon the entire staff is going to prefer pitching to Collins
  6. At what point is the Grandal CERA thing no longer SSS? Or do we just continue to downplay CERA as some fluky stat not worth paying attention to?
  7. Pitching has been better than fine. In fact, coming into today, White Sox pitching was 2nd in MLB in fWAR and FIP, 3rd in xFIP. That’s elite, actually.
  8. Wrong. I know what type of hitter he is and what type of catcher he is, which is exactly the reason why I’ve been against this signing from the start. I don’t agree that he is an above average defensive catcher. He’s good at pitch framing but what else does he do well? Caught stealing percentage, below average. Blocking pitches in the dirt, below average. Fielding his position, below average. Pitch calling, terrible.
  9. Your unwavering defense of Grandal is nauseating. You do realize his batting average in a Sox uni is .219 right? I’d be more surprised if his career batting average with the Sox ends up in the .240-.250 range than the .200-.210 range. I’m sure you’ll cite some WAR numbers proving how great he is but if you actually watch the games and his play you realize this is one of the most overrated players in fangraphs history. And that’s not an exaggeration.
  10. I really don’t care what fangraphs says, he just doesn’t pass the eye test. Good player sure but top 3 catcher or whatever no way. There’s a reason a smart org like the Dodgers benched him on two different occasions in the playoffs. I sometimes wonder if he calls fastballs because he’s worried about blocking balls in the dirt with runners on. Only explanation I have for some of his pitch calling.
  11. I’ve been consistent in my Grandal hate at least. Never seen a player that WAR overrated more than him. Too bad the Sox didn’t know what they had in McCann and Collins because I’d far prefer that platoon over this one. And would have saved a decent amount of money to boot.
  12. I could see that. There’s really no other explanation to be honest.
  13. That team is dead man walking. It’s remarkable how bad their offense is now when it’s basically the same core that they won a World Series with and all those guys should be in their primes as hitters.
  14. Cubs down 6-1. With their offense this year, that’s an insurmountable deficit to overcome.
  15. It’s a shame all the haters turned off he game after the second inning, they just missed another Eaton blast. What a great signing that’s been so far.
  16. Not trying to be a dick but you should just turn it off if watching upsets you this much. You’ll feel better (maybe)
  17. Fans throwing in the towel for the season part way through game 10 lol
  18. I know negativity is your thing but why do you invest so much time in something that causes you so much frustration?
  19. My takeaway...despite a few injuries and underperformance from several individuals, this team is going to be really good if they stay relatively healthy. Consider the following MLB ranks and understand, if they sustain this all season, wins will most certainly follow (alot of them); Offense - 5th in FWAR and wRC+ Pitching - 7th in fWAR and xFIP, 5th in FIP Run differential - 5th Truth is the advanced metrics tell the story of a 6-2 or 5-3 team, not 4-4. However, SSS and close late inning blown leads have resulted in a 4-4 record. Those things will even out over 162.
  20. Might as well just put them out of their misery and close up shop now since no one cares about baseball anymore. Surprising a multi-billionaire like Cohen would invest an enormous amount of money in an irrelevant, dying sport.
