Cease has no hitter going into 8th vs. WSH
Cease doesn’t even have the best ERA on his team. He’s not a frontline ace for a contender like Corbin Burnes or Chris Sale. He’s a low end #2 or good #3. Anyways, I’m happy with the return the Sox got for him.

And still higher than Drew Thorpe. Crazy.

Nice. Good for him. Thorpe still has a lower ERA though

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
I mean he’s going to pitch 150+ innings this season and 150 is the old 200. Full season workload as far as I’m concerned.

“Normal starter workload until end of regular season” so yea

So much for that innings limit I’ve been hearing about for the last 6 months

Cease To Padres per Passan
Suarez is quickly falling apart. Even Grayson has an ERA approaching 4. The Orioles rotation is already a mess but an injury to either Burnes or Grayson and it’s a complete train wreck.

Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)
I know Snelling has had a rough year but he’s only 20. I think a deal centered around Snelling and De Vries could get it done.

Whoever trades for him isn’t shutting him down in July

White Sox vs Pirates July 12 game thread
LOL. Crochet is at 107.1 innings at the all star break. What are you even talking about? There’s still 2.5 months left in the season. He’s easily going to hit the 150 inning mark this season, barring injury.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
4 losses in 2018 away from having Bobby Witt instead. Bad luck. Of course someone like Abrams or Greene would have been nice instead of Vaughn but neither are game changers like the consensus top two in 2019 Witt and Adley.

Guess Trade Values of Sox Starters
Yea, that was an absolutely embarrassing series by the Orioles. Their pitching is unraveling as expected. They’re going to be forced into trading some of those precious prospects for significant pitching help if they stand any chance of making a serious postseason run.

Seems reasonable

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
His walk rate is too high so far. I agree with that. But I also believe that will be corrected over time based upon his numbers in the minor leagues. Buehrle only struck out 5.13 per 9 IP but he only walked 2.01 so ultimately that’s where Drew needs to live.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
So far, he’s striking out more per 9 innings than Buehrle did over his career. Why do you need to strike out a bunch of guys to have success?

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
Still disappointed by Thorpe as the Cease headliner even though he may outpitch Cease as a rookie this season?

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
I’m glad you double checked then. Personally, I’m hoping they both get moved later this month.

This is exactly what you wanted. You been in Getz’s ear lately or what?

Guess Trade Values of Sox Starters
Crochet at #1 and Fedde up to #7 in fWAR out of all AL pitchers. Looks like the trade value for both these guys is higher than I could have even imagined back in April when I started this thread. Also noteworthy that none of the top 10 AL pitchers outside of these two are trade candidates this July so the Sox hold the keys to the two top starting pitchers available on the trade market this month. What’s your move @Rolle Tide @Snowy Demon ?

7/10 Campfire Milkshakes vs. Twinkies Straight DH 1:10PM CT
Thorpe going to toss a Maddux? 56 pitches thru 5.

7/10 Campfire Milkshakes vs. Twinkies Straight DH 1:10PM CT
I stand by right handed Mark Buehrle as a comp. That would be pretty good.

34 pitches thru 3 innings for Thorpe. Efficient.

7/10 Campfire Milkshakes vs. Twinkies Straight DH 1:10PM CT
With a better bullpen, the Sox are going for the 5th win in a row. I’ve been told that’s the easiest thing to fix in an offseason so that’s gotta be encouraging no? This starting rotation is legit good right now after the promotions of Cannon and Thorpe. Without a trade, there’s no room for Clevinger even unless they want to demote Flexen who’s been pitching fairly well recently also.
