  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 24, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) http://www.kansascity.com/sports/mlb/kansa...e128370819.html A KC beat writer was with the team at the funeral procession today, pretty touching stuff. Looking through his twitter tl its really touching. I really felt the sorrow that many are feeling there. Death is so damn final man.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) The NFL seriously sucks. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 08:40 PM) It really does. What a terrible product that they put on the field. Pretty much every game used to be must see TV but now I cant even get excited for what is supposed to be the marque matchups. That have made it impossible to fully understand the rules. And probably the most damning of all is that players arent allowed to hit anymore. Why cant they accept the fact that they are a brutal sport, make the players sign waivers and then go back to real football like it used to be?

  5. Its really telling the fact that these web pages were shut down as within the minutes of him taking office. Most of America is frightened by this and I don't know how long it will last until people push the other end of the spectrum "movement" to have him impeached. There are too many Americans that realize that there is too much at stake to just let this guy ruin what so many fought so hard and long for. How the hell he won the election?...I have no idea really but I know for damn sure we arent going to just sit idly by and let him and his followers ruin what the majority of the people in this country cherish.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) So in that case, I presume you are okay then sticking with Butler and trying a different path? I'd have to think that Boston offer I mentioned would be pretty top dollar. I don't see too many teams with more assets to make it work. Maybe we'll see Chris Bosh and Chris Paul join Wade and Butler and we'll be the old man banana boat crew plus Buckets. This scenario is probably more likely than the Bulls trading Jimmy in my opinion. If they didnt trade Jimmy this past off season it wasnt ever going to happen.

  8. Q posting something to twitter for the first time in about a year a few minutes ago. I was pretty nervous about what it was going to translate too thinking it might be some breaking news but it was just him wishing happy birthday to his cute one year old daughter.
  9. Bulls showing interest in Bosh? K.C. JohnsonVerified account ‏@KCJHoop Following More K.C. Johnson Retweeted Marc Stein Haven't confirmed @ESPNSteinLine rumor Bulls interested in Bosh if he's healthy next year but that would suggest a Wade opt-in, keep Butler.
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 08:58 AM) I've established this. With that Marlins trade, if he were to redo it, they'd be 30. 29 and 30 are interchangeable at any point. The difference means nothing.
  11. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 08:29 AM) Is holding Quintana until the trading deadline (or next off-season) a gamble worth taking if his value is high right now? Any fear that he won't be as good on a team that is expected to bottom out over the next year? I'd hate to see the White Sox hold out for an A+ deal if an A deal could be had right now, only to see his value diminish over the next year (injury, subpar season, etc.). Every move a GM makes is a gamble. They are used to it so I dont think Hahn would worry about it too much if he had to wait until the right deal came to him. I think he is convinced himself that the market will come to him. He isnt going to be knocking down anyones door to make trades, if you went about it that way you arent going to ever get much in return.
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 11:01 PM) Yeah it's interesting that everyone keeps calling him a cold killer and mentally distorted but wouldn't he just handle this himself if it were that way? This kid always had money thoug and I guess it's probably easier to just throw money at the issue than actually deal with it. Shipps you may have heard about this being local but later that same school year my friend's dad killed his wife and then killed himself. We were two weeks from Prom weekend. The girl who set everything up had me collect the money from my group of six friends. I told my buddy I'd be by at 4:30 to pick up the money and he said cool. I show up to his house and there had to be ten Cook County sheriffs there. My buddy got home from school, immediately realized something was wrong and went upstairs. Checked his parents' room and there was no one there. Checked the rest of the house and nothing. Went back to his parents' room and tried to check the bathroom but he couldn't open the door because the dead bodies were propped up against it. My guy walked into his parents' dead bodies as an 18-year-old boy. He supported his dad 100%, never really mourned and just went on with his life. https://www.google.com/amp/s/patch.com/illi...e?client=safari Wow this one I dont remember but we hadnt moved out to the burbs until 2013 so if I heard about it I wouldnt have paid as much attention. Why do you think your friend sided with his dad? That is crazy.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 04:22 PM) Generally I would agree with this, but either way we're eventually going to need an RBI producer or two, so if he isn't one then we're gonna have to create one somehow. I think the odds are great that at least one or two players emerge in the midst of the mess that next year is going to be as a surprise player. He might be one of them, who the hell knows.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) http://patch.com/illinois/palos/john-grana...parents-verdict I don't know how much publicity this story has been getting across Chicagoland or perhaps even nationally but this has been surreal to me. For those unfamiliar, back in September of 2011, a kid from Palos Park, my hometown, plotted with his friends to kill his parents. Granat paid his three friends (1 driver, 2 killers) about 36,000 in cash to take part in the murder. Once the parents went to sleep the two killers went in their bedroom and whacked them with bats and stabbed them until they died. They disposed of all the evidence at the kid Wyma's house. Granat left Wyma's house and 4AM and was pulled over with a broken taillight on the way home and he had bleach in his car. He called in the murder at 7AM and the cop that pulled him over responded to the murder call. John was arrested that day. The other three kids walked free for another 4 weeks and were arrested four Sundays later. I was sitting in class the Friday before the other three kids got arrested and Wyma ditched his class came in my class to talk to his friend. He was saying "John could never do that. He loves his parents so much. His lawyer says he'll be out soon." Two days later the kid gets charged with a double murder. There's plenty of gruesome articles on the patch where the kid Ehab gave his full account of what happened for a lenient 40 year sentence. It's just crazy how things happened. I went to school with Granat from 6th grade until senior year when he got locked up. He was a total weirdo. He would just kind of sit in the back of class, never said much and kind of awkwardly laughed at stuff. He was translucent pale and probably 140 pounds as a 17 year old. I would guess he was on the spectrum. I was friendly with him but he was kind of a wallflower so I wouldn't really deal with him. In 8th grade, he started acting out a bit and I had some random encounters with him. Nothing crazy but he started hanging out with the tough crowd and was always doing weird stuff with money. His parents owned a construction company and always had cash hanging around the house. He took some girl shopping at the mall and spent over a G on her. We were like 15. She then ignored him and never gave him any attention. He would buy his friends lunch almost everyday. He was always good for five bucks if you were in a pinch. Anyways, 8th grade was probably the height of my troublemaking times primarily because one of my best friends from baseball named Dan (now a homeless drug addict tragically) was a huge troublemaker and his single mom was helicopter nurse working 24 hour shifts so we did whatever we wanted. It was at this time I'd see Granat out every once in a while. If there was a big fight or someone had alcohol, stuff like that. I never had rides anywhere and he only lived a couple miles away so I'd go over there Dan's all the time and Granat would be around there. We had Presidents Day off so I just rode over to my buddy Dan's. Dan invited this gangbanger Hamza (now dead ironically) over. Hamza was like, "Hey I have John Granat coming by I am going to sell him two bottles of Captain Morgan. We just have to hang out with him for a half hour and then I am going to take liquor back" So Granat comes over and sits with us for a bit awkwardly while we watched Goodfellas. They exchange booze and alcohol and John says he's going to leave. Right when he does, Hamza goes, "Give me that liquor back or I'll beat the f*** out of you." Granat just stares at him. Hamza cracks him in the face. Granat keeps staring. Hamza hits him again. Granat keeps staring. Hamza takes the booze forcefully and tells him to leave. Granat, now bleeding, tells Hamza "You'll regret this. You don't know what I am capable of." Hamza just started laughing at him and pushed him to door taunting him. I felt bad for Granat but I wasn't about to piss off perhaps the toughest kid in my then mostly-prissy school. I remember thinking it was pretty crazy that such a weak kid was just eating shots and wasn't crying, wasn't fighting back, wasn't running or anything. I never really thought of anything until the murders happened. I am just rambling but the whole ordeal and memory put things in perspectives for me. That day will be 10 years ago next month. Of the four kids who I was with that day, one will be sentenced to 100+ years in jail, one was shot to death in a drug deal a few years ago, one has been off the map for years as a heroin addict and then there's me just wasting my valuable work time on a Sox forum. I actually enjoyed this rambling. Whats messed up though is that Granat wasnt really capable of anything personally considering the fact he had to get his friends to do the killing. What a p****, I hope he rots in jail forever.
  15. Avi always looked the part. Just never had all the other stuff outside of looking the part unfortunately. https://twitter.com/loswhitesox/status/822140741363306496
  16. Its interesting to see the reaction of some of the other teams fans on twitter to this trade thanking the Marlins for F'ing up their teams chances of landing Q. LOL The reality is that the price is not going down and its just clicking now with some of the fans.
  17. The only thing that the Marlins trade does is reinforce what we already knew. Teams have to pay a premium with their prospects if they want to land even decent SP.
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) Oh, wow. We'll have to catch a beer. For sure dude.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) I'll be there March 22th-27 if memory serves. One of the best weekends of the year every year. Can't recommend it enough. Although, at this point, flights are probably ridiculous. They get really expensive far ahead of time. We will see you there. Me and Jas will be there from 23-26.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 06:17 PM) Favre was also quite the diva and no where near as good as Aaron. I'm not a Bears fan so I don't hate the Packers but I was never a fan of Favre and I love watching Rodgers play. Who are you a fan of so I can hate that team too? LOL
  21. You know, my seasonal affective disorder is kicking in full gear today and I could really use a fun distraction to cheer me up a bit. A day of Whitesox trade talk with breaking news throughout the day would be welcomed with open arms. I need some damn sunshine and blue skies, jeez.
  22. I respect Rodgers and believe he is the best in the game and possibly the best ever. He is a great competitor, fun to watch, seems like a cool enough guy except for his family issues which are weird but nonetheless a good dude. He makes funny commercials and is a great representative of the game. But I hate that motherf***er.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) I was a guest that competed for prizes. That was Family Feud! Not the Steve Harvey Show dude.
  24. I still think its going to be the Yankees that trade for Q. When you think about the teams that typically arent afraid of doing what it takes to put a lot on the line with elite prospects in a trade to get what they want/need you dont think of teams like the Astro's and Pirates. They havent been willing to in the past and wont be in the future. Let them keep placing their penny bets at the slot machine hoping to cash in on the big 5,000 jackpot instead of playing at the 20 dollar slots trying to hit a game changing jackpot.
