QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Good morning sunshine... Agree completely with you here.. Hello darling, sorry we didn't hook up.

I think Shingo's ineffectiveness along with Neil Cotts does hurt our pen because it will force Ozzie into matchups and create alot of bullpen use each game. If shingo was effective you wouldn't have threads of burning bullpens. The only guy that didn't get up yesterday in the pen was Cotts. everyone else either pitched or threw in the pen. Shingo comes in Ozzie will need a back up to throw in the pen. So in effect you need at least two closers each time shingo pitches. One on the mound and at least one throwing in the pen. This cannot last the whole year, it will indeed burn the pen out.

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) Yes, absolutely. They can build one moat right next to you so you don't have to deal with me. Then they can build another moat next to the Politte Brothers. All we need then is the waitress from Peanuts to serve you your food and beers, voila, it's Quickman Paradise. Its all about me you know! and....Steff

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) Now I understand, thank you. No other need to respond to him. We all understand him now.

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) What's the point, why throw it back? I saw a teenager throw a ball back from the bleachers and get escorted out. The moron was arguing with security and the security guard said "you're not supposed to throw anything on the field." That teenager didn't think he was quite so cool when he was being ejected. I am so happy I am sitting where I am, is there a possiblitity they could build a moat around my section?

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) I am so spoiled.. This I can agree with you

QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) No way, If I caught a HR ball from our team.. then Ide give it to a kid... but from the other team, pffft, f*** that that ball is headed back to where it came Because you being the ripe old age of 21 know what kids want. They would never want a ball hit by an opposing team. Not a 5 year old. Thats a bad ball. Its cursed, and its really neat to throw it back, look everyone I am really cool cause I threw it back rather than give it to a kid who might really like it.

QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) SECURITY! SECURITY! MORE!!! SECURITY!! I brought a Chicago sports fan with me to opening day. He had a blast. He had so much fun he bought tickets for Monday night's game for him and his family. Well, he called me after the game to celebrate the victory with me. Although he really enjoyed the game, the Sox organization should really take note of his comments. He said he was in section 113. In section 111 there was a fight that somebody's nose got busted and was bleeding everywhere. He said "don't take this wrong, because I'm a Sox fan now too, but I can see why there is a stereotype about drunk violent Sox fans." He realized that fights happen everywhere there is alcohol, he wondered where the hell was securtity and why did it take 5 minutes to get there? He also said that he doesn't think his wife will go again and he probably won't bring his daughter anymore. With all of the problems over the years, to not have tight security during 1/2 price drunk fest is unacceptable. My advice, NO MORE 1/2 price nights unless they are upper deck. Also, MORE SECURITY!!!! I'm bringing my wife to tonight's game tonight. I hope the violent drunks limit themselves to the upper deck. In fact, I love baseball. I'd be happy if they quit selling alcohol all together. Someone please post some e-mail addresses for people in the Sox organization so that I can write them. Sorry about the rant. I know one guy in all of Rockford who I've finally shown that the Sox are a better team. I've conviced him that the negative Sox stuff is Cubune perpetuated crap and now this bulls*** happens. I have been saying this for years, eliminate half price night and you eliminate the rif raff. I have been countered by the vast number of students on this board who have no money. I say tough s*** and watch it on TV, get money from Daddy or wait until steff gives you her tickets. By the way I will not go on Mondays. I literally hate the scene.

This whole thread is why I am now upstairs in the Premium club section. Less abuse, no half price bulls***, minimal problems or issues.

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) Nice sentiment, and in general I agree. However, reality is a very different thing. I've never been a target in opposition venues because I don't invite it, nor get out of line. I've seen fans wearing opposition colors get abused and they didn't do anything to provoke it ... other than waving a red flag in front of a bull. It's perfectly fine to show team pride and there's nothing wrong with wearing Sox stuff to another stadium. The reality is, though, you heighten the chance of getting into a problem ... big time. Some people are good at diffusing a potential problem, some aren't. Some others never get the chance to diffuse the problem, they just get dumped on. In addition, some stadium crowds are much more tolerant than others. From the Bad Idea Department: wearing opposition colors to Madison Square Garden and Oakland Coliseum. Very bad idea. Not this again

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) I think they should can Dolgin and hire you. Typical Postgame Show banter: Caller: "I think Harris should get more time in CF, and at 2B." quick: "Are you nuts, what's the matter with you, Harris is a piece of s***." 2nd Caller: "Why didn't Ozzie play Gload today?" quick: "Please. Who's screening these calls? Gload is a piece of s***. Let me just take a moment to give a shout out to my very good friends at Peanuts Bar and Grill, stop in and say hi to Lisa, grab a gyro and an ice cold PBR, and ... did I mention Ross Gload is a piece of s***??" 3rd Caller: "How come the White Sox aren't pitching Cliff Politte more?" quick: "Stop yourself. Cliff Politte is a piece-of-s***-in-training, not to mention his brothers are nuts, I'm serious." 4th Caller: "Why are all those guys pieces of s***?" quick: "Are you kiddin' me? Take a pill. You people are all nuts. That's all the time we have for today, it's time for the Reds game on satellite ... this show brought to you by all my very good friends at any bar that has lots of TV's and puts on whatever I want, whenever I want." (mumbles to himself before signing off - "why doesn't West Side Bill call in any more, now HIM, I like ...") While hysterical, and quite amusing, its dead damn on. In addition have I mentioned that Jim is a piece of s***. I just don't like mediorce baseball. or mediorce friends...or enemies. mediorce Beer is another story. if any of you are in naperville tonight I will be out bar hopping and watching our piece of s*** bullpen come in for the piece of s*** mental breakdown of contraras. going to the game tommorrow, I will be happy to buy beers for anyone in the Club section. Cheap beer that is.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Anyone have an over/under of how long it takes him to end up back in a White Sox booth, and who he will replace? -Rooney was supposedly interested in a St Louis job a few years ago, but wasn't allowed to interview. -Hawk is no spring chicken anymore. -DJ could be replaced anytime and it would suprise no one. When hawk dies hopefully he will be back.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) I do. He's doing well despite TB's dismal start.. hoping to continue giving NY the butt whippin that Baltimore started. i know I have been listening on XM radio.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Don't get me wrong.. I like the "Sox fans.. on your feet...." stuff.. but it doesn't consume me and I forget about it the minute the first pitch is thrown. I didn't even remember that Thurderstruck was missing from opening day... I missed Dave's "neeexxxtttttt" more. you just miss Dave.

He reminds meof the pitcher in Bull durham that says he wants to throw a fastball because he wants to announce his presence. This is just dumb. KW needs to step in privately and talk to these guys.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) Four words for Ozzie, which I guess he still can't translate, SHUT THE f*** UP! I agree, why would he need to say anything? bad move.
