QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) Would be happy to be wrong on this one. Dennis Gilbert must not know what he's talking about if Borchard still has minor league options. Who is Dennis Gilbert?

QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) Yas, I hope this is true, different info than what I heard down there. he is not out of options. You have spent way too much time in the sun. Melting your brain away.

QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Was not impressed with Honel at all, he looked baffled and befuddled. Maybe just a bad day, who knows. Maybe he's not healthy. But it was really weird. You should have seen all the scouts perk up when Diaz came in to pitch, I think that's why they were there primarily. Oh, on Borchard's two home runs that one game - one was definitely legit and one was a wind-aided homer, big time. But they all count toward his spring stats. Personally I don't feel the Sox want to lose Borchard for nothing, but they like this kid as a person and want to give him an opportunity to strut his stuff for other teams. If he has to go thru waivers a low end team will likely claim him. Might as well get something vs. sending him to Charlotte where he has little to prove. Man Soo Lee was giving big handfulls of Bazooka bubble gum to all the kids down the line. I asked him to pose for a picture, he came over and gave me a big handful too. Nice guy. Nice , but I don't agree with your assessment of borchard. I do agree they say they still like him, and I do think they maybe looking to trade him, but they won't send him through waivers. They will send him back to aaa then pray he has a good year and add him in a deal at the mid year. Just my thinking.

not the great Honel, tell me it isn't so. Our number one starter of the future? Nice to hear about the KW chat, must have been nice to see. I would suspect with all the scouts that something is in the works. Its not unusual to have scouts at these games but it seems like something is in the Air.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) Crede IS a decent 3B. Plays good defense, hits 20 bombs, from the 8-9 spot that's very decent. Not to mention he is cheap and fits our payroll

What a strange thread, we are half way through spring training and we are talking about the future years. If this thread started three years ago honel would be in there, Munoz, Almonte, Ring, Borchard, olivo. This is just silly, as many of you know I am very disheartened with our Minor league system. i would say 90% never make it, then there are injuries and trades. How about being excited about this year. lets win this year, if you see any of these minor leaguers, BMAC or Diaz it means we are in trouble. Win now, screw later.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) • RHP Jeff Bajenaru and LHP Arnie Munoz were optioned to Class AAA Charlotte; • RHP Kris Honel and 1B Casey Rogowski were optioned to Class AA Birmingham; • C Raul Casanova, LHP Ryan Meaux, C Gustavo Molina, OF Jerry Owens, LHP David Sanders, LHP Josh Stewart and OF Chris Young were reassigned to minor-league camp. not the great Arnie Munoz! say it ain't so. Not the greatest curve ball pitcher in whitesox history. He will never make it, book it.

I found it- Wilson Alvarez

Got a bet and need an answer- Who is the only whitesox pitcher to strikeout 4 players in an inning? Sounds like a trick question. Anyone

This is the players union speaking. I have no doubt Frank wants to go, but the players union wants all the players to be unified. That's what unions do, one voice speaks for the players. if Frank jumps at the chance to go while the others are trying to decline Frank looks like he is not supporting the players. i am sure he will speak.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) I heard him on the Score when he made the comments. However, he wasn't very specific. I would think if he was doing the game with the Hawk, the Sox would put out some sort of press release. Then again, if he working with ESPN, you'd think they'd also have something out there saying he works with them. So, to answer what you asked, I don't know. He said comcast, and he is friends with JR. I am sure he is just stepping in that is all. -

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) When Borchard his hitting them out, things are looking good. He has 4 hits this spring, 3 homers. He's the Stanford Dave Kingman. 5 hits, he had two doubles yesterday -
QUOTE(TLAK @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) Judging by the rumors, she's doing more than the pre/post. Actually she is doing pre and post. I couldn't help it.

In my opinion Ozuna has made this team as a backup infielder if we do not trade for a player. he has looked really solid and is good in the field.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) It's March freaking 12. I mean, I like Brandon as much as anyone here but c'mon why don't we give Contreras a few starts during the regular season before we start throwing him under the bridge. I understand there are people here who aren't confident in Jose and that's fine, I just think it's nuts to want to rush Brandon cause Contreras has had a few rough outings during st, jmo. Completely agree.
