  1. I don't think I have done any of that, and I agree.
  2. QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) That's confusing. Are you really saying if their careers ended today, Fields would be considered the better player? Wow. well, um... I never said anything close to that. I just said that I think Fields is the better baseball player.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) KW must be feeling like a GENIUS right now... Crede, Quentin, Linebrink, Dotel, Swisher, Cabrera. Awesome. I think Tommy Waddle said it best last night, "Kenny Williams must feel like he's 10 feet tall and bullet proof right now." Right now, this crow tastes delicious... watching good baseball triumps over how wrong I was at the beginning of the season.
  4. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 06:10 PM) It's Chris Young. He just signed an extension with Arizona today. Right around 30 million. Oh that guy... I'd still take Javy over him anyday
  5. this game had shades of 05 in it...
  6. I still think Fields is and will be the better player, but if Crede keeps this up it only raises his trade value. No way are we going to sign Crede and trade Fields.
  7. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:24 PM) The second quote was in a tradewinds article. You wanted Conor Jackson brought in even though we acquired Quentin. Those are honest Google searches. Thinking about, Jackson and Quentin are pretty much similar types of players, except that Quentin is better defensively at his position, offers more speed and power, but probably less average.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:18 PM) well, you didn't see me talk down about Quentin in any of those posts... I don't know what the context of the second quote is, and in the last quote, in all fairness, we didn't even know if he was healthy. Oh and in the 1st one, I said maybe... and Ramirez is probably my second favorite addition from the offseason.
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:06 PM) 05-17-2005 *vs Rangers W 7.0 IP 5 H 2 ER 4 K 05-29-2005 at Rangers L 6.0 IP 9 H 7 ER 3 K 08-30-2005 at Rangers L 4.1 IP 7 H 5 ER 2 K 06-02-2006 *vs Rangers ND 6.2 IP 5 H 3 ER 4 K 06-13-2006 *at Rangers W 5.1 IP 5 H 0 ER 0 K 07-23-2006 *vs Rangers W 8.1 IP 6 H 0 ER 3 K 04-17-2007 vs Rangers L 7.0 IP 5 H 5 ER 3 K 08-29-2007 *at Rangers ND 6.0 IP 8 H 3 ER 2 K I'd say overall, that since 2005, he's 5 QSs out of 8 starts. I guess I really only remember the bad outings... I do remember one time he mowed them down though. He was dominate that game, breaking tons of bats. EDIT: according to lostfan, pre the 05 Garland, I was right...
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) Sadly there's no bullets left in that chamber. I agree that Swisher would be best utilized hitting down the order but there's nothing wrong with having a Grady Sizemore type leadoff hitter (minus the SBs of course) when you have a guy like Thome hitting 3rd and no other real leadoff options. Swisher and Sizemore probably have pretty similar power potential so you're not taking full advantage of that aspect of their game but at least you're giving one of your best hitters the most PAs of anyone in the lineup as opposed to a much less valuable offensive talent who happens to run fast. well, I don't Swisher being our leadoff hitter forever... just like I don't see Sizemore being Cleveland's leadoff hitter forever either. I think Swisher is basically a one year stop gap. However, if keeping Swisher at leadoff prevents someone like Owens being a starter and leadoff hitter, I never want to see Swisher moved out of that spot
  11. IIRC, didn't Garland always struggle against Texas?
  12. Javy Vazquez will dominate tomorrow, making people all across the globe go, "Chris who?"
  13. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) I'm deciding between starting Jenks, Sherrill or this Twins SP tomorrow. I think Blackburn will stay on my bench for this start. You might want to start Blackburn. In the past several years... pitchers we've never seen before + any pitcher on the twins = horrible day offensively. God, watching us stink up in situations like that last year got me so pissed. hopefully that all changes.
  14. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) i like swisher right where he is...hes on base a ton and thats really what i want hitting in front of thome and co. Right now, he is our best option at leadoff. But if we could somehow manage to get someone like Roberts, and move Swisher down, that'd be fantastic.
  15. Carlos Quentin was my favorite acquisition in the offseason, and if healthy, he will be the best IMO. Just so much power. I also like how when I want Ramirez to start, Uribe has a fantastic day defensively, and somehow gains the patience to draw 2 BB's (he did draw 2 right?). Buehrle, pitching smart like he does 90% of time. Very good to see. And while I would still like Swisher moved down to the middle of the order, those 1st AB homers are a great way to start off a game offensively.
  16. QUOTE(soxfn4life @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 05:48 PM) Darin Erstad was batting 3rd in the astros lineup today. eeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww didn't we try that a couple times as well?
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) Stop complaining about everything..... so, I shouldn't have an opinion? I shouldn't be allowed to think Ramirez should play 2B ahead of Uribe?
  18. they should have really let Thomas play, he's been swinging the hot stick.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 05:59 PM) I'll take it... if only it was Alexi at 2B...
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 05:34 PM) 2-3 weeks at Charlotte really doesn't prove much as he still hasn't proved he can hit major league hitting. Personally I think the Sox will do this, if Uribe plays mediocre they'll wait to give Richar his chance and at that point if Richar pans out awesome, if not and neither is really playing that good they will consider making a move for a 2nd baseman (since if Richar doesn't pan out they don't really have one in the system, sans Getz, who is considered more of a utility guy). Richar already proved he is at least as good as Uribe, plus he offers more speed and from what I have seen, he is as good defensively (if not better) at 2B. He needs 2-3 weeks at charlotte to prove he's healthy and get his timing back. And Richar better pan out, because we gave up a pretty damn good prospect in Cunningham for him.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 05:26 PM) I wouldn't get rid of Uribe until we see that Richar is healthy and productive. Plus it really doesn't hurt to have a bench player with the infield defense of Uribe at your hands for late inning defensive replacements (Juan would also be a solid pinch hitter in the right situation because he is great at getting the timely sac fly as well as laying down a sac bunt). That's why we wait after we see how Richar does in 2-3 weeks at Charlotte.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) Honestly, I can't see how anyone can say that based on the way he's played this season. I'm not saying it will hold up (its a small sample size) but he has looked very good out there. He's not the best CFer in baseball, but so far this year he's been better than average (very good reads, good routes, making all the plays and than some). He's decent, but his best spot would be LF. I would say so far he's average-slightly (very slightly) above. His routes are good, but his reads aren't as good. He's made all the plays that he's suppossed to though, so that makes him automatically better then both Owens and Mackowiak.
  23. some people were pissed about picking Broadway above someone like Garza, and while we'd all love to have Garza, I (like you) think he can turn into a pretty good middle of the rotation starter. McCulloch is the guy most people should be pissed off about, IMO.
  24. Uribe still has a terrible approach to the plate. He has that open stance, and he is trying to pull everything, but his bat is soooo very slow he can't. Why oh why didn't we let whoever claim him have him???
