QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) New Rule: Listening to a anti-catholic bigot like Bill Mahr who believes that chickens and dogs should live over people is dumb. "To those people who say, `My father is alive because of animal experimentation,' I say `Yeah, well, good for you. This dog died so your father could live.' Sorry, but I am just not behind that kind of trade off." -Bill Maher, PeTA celebrity spokesman Also bringing the catholics into the FLDS story is akin to Mariotti bringing up the Ligue incident when describing the Cubs throwing crap on their field. My church has problems, and the priests who poke kids should be excommunicated and locked with with the key thrown away, but I am sick and tired of having my religion raked over the coals and brought in as a side cart comedy act when another church is brought up. couldn't have said it any better myself...

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) really? out of context? McCain said some people would say that economy has made great gains. In my world, when you say "some people would say" it really means "i believe this, but i wont say it publicly" yeah, but politics don't revolve around your world, and you can't just assume stuff.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 09:08 AM) Just a short clip of Obama taking John McCain seriously out of context, since we all know how much Obama says context is important. How very hypocritical of him. Shame on you, Obama. I thought you were above that? Obama isn't above anything. He'll hang out with guys who obviously hate America and even led small attacks against it like Ayars, and he'll sit in a Church of an anti-American, and racist Pastor... all to try and advance his political career. I think that should show you how high his morals are. Side note: I actually now think Wright is just a world class bulls***er, and has become a race bater and such so he can just get attention and money from his church. I love that someone who talks about poverty so much, and how evil the rich white Americans are, that now he has a giant mansion in a rich white tinley park neighborhood on a golf course. Oh yeah, he also has a 10 million line of credit to go with the house. His words during mass were racist and anti-american, but I think he said all that crap just to get more money and attention.

all these numbers are too much for me...

Chris who? I Vazquez (even though this wasn't his best outing)

I don't know about anyone else... but I love watching Javy pitch. Hopefully, once again, I will be asking "Chris who?" -
that was pretty poor pitch location by Bobby and Linebrink in the 8th and 9th innings. But, I love Quentin. He is slowly becoming my favorite "sock" next to Vazquez.

I never thought I'd see another game with Contreras pitching where he didn't allow one BB, and the game would last less then 3 hours... He showed some velocity today. -

I don't know about anyone else... but I absolutely hate Contreras starts. He pretty much puts me to sleep when he's on the mound, taking a minute between pitches, and also struggling to throw strikes a lot of the time... plus, at least the Contreras from a couple years ago had good stuff, now he has just crap. I have a feeling it's going to be a looooooooooooooong game... but GO SOX! -
I like the pinstripes better, although the black is nice as well to throw in there as a change... I'll miss the vest jerseys as I always liked those.
-
sounds like he has some potential as a versatile bench guy. Can hit for some pop it looks like, and his ability to play every spot in the infield is great as well.
-
what's Link's stuff like? Low 90's? While we are on the subject, how is Lujan's stuff?
-
he kinda came outta no where didn't he?
-
keeping the ball down is a very good thing...

I remember the good old days with Valentine out there at SS butchering balls hit to him... God, for some reason I love those good old memories. Damn, it doesn't seem like he has been gone for over 4 years now. It seems like just yesterday he was playing for us.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) Which is a horrible misconception. Oh, he is a great guy and was great with the fans. But in the clubhouse, he was erratic. If he was going good, he'd be fine. But if he was doing bad, he wouldn't be so fine. I think I recall a time when he said all he cared about was hitting home runs, and nothing else.

I'd probably rate Shoeless Joe higher. From all I've read, he was the best player at his time as well. It is a shame he got banned though. Just look at those stats. He must have been one hell of a hitter. Batted over .400 one season. Actually, since he only played 5 1/2 season with the Sox, I guess you can rate Thomas as the better White Sox. But I'd rather Jackson over Thomas in the baseball player category.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) Yeah, I bet you know a ton about politics. I'm no expert, but I try and follow the news. I'll put it this way... I know more then a lot of people my age.

4/14 Gamethread: Sox (7-4) vs. Oakland (8-5); 7:11, CSN
BearSox replied to maggsmaggs's topic in 2008 Season in Review
DH'ing Dye wouldn't be bad as he's been in a little funk as well. Let him focus on hitting. I say go crazy with the lineup... 1. Ozuna, 2B 2. Cabrera, SS 3. Swisher, LF 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Dye, DH 6. Pierzynski, C (if Hall, bump him down to the 9 spot) 7. Quentin, RF 8. Crede, 3B 9. Anderson, CF -
Swinging for the fences cost us the game tonight. The most noticeable cases were the last 2 AB's, with Quentin and Crede. Instead of just dropping the bat down and poking a hit into RF over the 1st or 2nd baseman's head, they were swinging for the fences. Both of them wanted to be heroes and hit 600 foot home runs. Plus, you can take most AB's of the team vs. Smith as an example of this as well. Like Hawk said early, Buehrle's best friend is greed. Players aren't idiots, they know Buehrle has junk stuff for the most part, put when you see 86 mph fastballs, you tend to overswing. Tonight the White Sox showed greed by trying to hit every pitch Smith threw 600 feet. Vs. pitchers like Buehrle and Smith, you gotta play small ball, IMO. The homer will eventually come against them.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 05:15 PM) You do realize that Uribe actually had a couple of solid, full seasons at the ML level, right? I like Richar and think that he'll be a fine 2B... and that he'll eventually be a better hitter than Uribe. But I don't see any evidence that he's a better option at the plate right now. And Uribe is clearly a better defensive player. So much so that he beat out Ramirez and Ozuna. Uribe had a great first half in 04 and was not completely horrible in 05.. however, for the past 3 years so far, he's been one of the worst hitters in all of baseball. That alone justifies trying to find someone else to replace him, during the season or not. As this is obviously going in circles, I'll stop here. You can have the final word however.
-
how about this... Imagine what the world would be like if Jack Bauer could not torture suspects. We'd all probably be dead now
-
I gained some respect for Hawk to find out he is a republican However, he is still a homer by actually thinking Mayor Daily is a good mayor.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) Why not? I was never a fan of his attitude. I always thought of him as more a "me" player.
-
QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) That's about what Richar hit in the majors last year, so I'm not sure what your point is. so what someone hit in their first taste of MLB action is the only thing that person can do in his next season? Wow, that makes sense.
