  1. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) Neither would I, but I doubt he's available at our position. In MLB.com's recent projection, they had him going 29, I think... But then again, the Baseball draft is probably the hardest to project.
  2. Joe Girardi please....... oh wait, he will only go for the Yanks or Cubs...
  3. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) I'm sorry but Ryan told me that he doesn't like you. That's a lie. We share the same birthday, we are practically soul mates... I'm freaking myself out a bit right now.....
  4. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) Is Owens going to play tonight? Yep.... leading off and playing (ugh!) Center. What would be so bad about sending down our reserve reserve infielder, calling up BA or RS and having them play CF? And have Owens in LF? It can't be much worse then the Erstad-Pods combo or the more recent Erstad-Mack-Terrero trio...
  5. Javy going to make everyone say "Chris who?" tonight...
  6. I wouldn't mind Josh Smoker...
  7. AVG: .285 | 18 HR | 74 RBI B) My title says it all...
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:40 PM) 600 PLATE APPEARANCES there's a huge difference. It is plate appearances? dammit.
  9. Kellen Kulbacki isn't being considered first round is he? He would be nice to add maybe in the 2nd round if he was there.
  10. QUOTE(Allsox @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) I agree as well. Doesn't Bobby have a screw in his elbow as well? Thought I read that someplace a while back. To me, Aardsma is the future closer once he gets a little seasoning on his offspeed stuff. Yeah, Bobby has a screw in his elbow... but I don't think Aardsma will be our answer at closer.
  11. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) Fields had a poor year, he struggled with control. I'd be surprised if he was taken in the first 5 rounds. He might want to go the same route LaPorta did and stay for his senior year to raise his draft stock back close to where it was. Interesting.... I can't really pay attention to college baseball as much as I would like to, but from what I remember, I was impressed with some of his stuff. Well, if he does come out, I wouldn't mind him if we got him a bit later, like in the 5th-7th round.
  12. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) I wish we would send Gonzalez down and bring up BA or Sweeney. I think I stated it earlier, but the best move would be to call up Owens, send down Gonzalez, and then call up either Sweeney or BA.
  13. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) Just because they sent him down doesn't mean they are high on him. Supposedly Milledge is in their doghouse. Well, he's not in their dog house like Milledge, but his trade value is no where near where it was over the preseason and trade deadline last year.
  14. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) I know many here would consider it blasphemous, but I'd trade Jenks for much the same reason. Considering his past injury history, his weight, and his drop in velocity, his future status within this organization worries me. You want to talk about selling high? With someone under contract for quite a while with previous success and a (still) decent fastball/curve combination? There's no question he'll lend us quite a return. Yes, he's one of the two most dependable arms in the bullpen. The question you have to ask yourself is whether the White Sox have an opportunity to compete next season. Most wouldn't think so. So, then why waste Jenks on this team when he could help solidfy our INF or OF? Perhaps bring in a SP prospect. I'll take my chances with MacDougal, Logan, Thornton, O.Perez, Day, Aardsma, etc. Bullpens notoriously overturn themselves season to season. Good seasons may come out of nowhere (Politte/Cotts). Better to sell high, for once. I've been thinking the same myself. He could probably get us more then anyone else we have. I just don't see Jenks lasting much longer with his weight and drop in velocity as his fastball is still practically as straight as an arrow. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) Vazquez is a headcase. Sure he might pitch 200 innings, but he isn't worth 11 million a year. I would take Lilly over Vazquez any day. But if this trade f***s us in terms of resigning Buehrle, then KW is a bigger f***ing asshole than I thought he was. Well, we might be better off selling high on Buehrle then resigning him, if we were to go into rebuild mode.
  15. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) Hell, the Mets are really down on Milledge right now, and you could probably get him and another prospect. I would like to see Milledge and Phillip Humber. If not Humber Deolis Guerra wouldn't be a bad fit. They're also down on Mike Pelfry with the way he has pitched. Maybe we could work something out...
  16. I brought this up in the other thread, but I wouldn't mind Josh Fields. He has good stuff and has a live arm. We need some future bullpen help, and hopefully he could succeed and get called up with 1-2 years. The Mets got a good one with Joe Smith, and it only took him 1 year to get up to the show and he has been dominating. Then again, Smith is a little bit different with the sidearm delivery with good stuff. Also, an intriguing guy later on would be Chris Carpenter from Kent. He is likely to fall due to injury problems, but he has good fastball and a really good slider. He right now is a starter, but to keep him healthy, he might be better of going into the bullpen.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) Holy cow, please don't bring up errors as a way to judge defense. Erstad didn't get an error for the debacle in Anaheim, as well as the game-deciding misplay he made against the Yankees. Chris Young's offense has been much better than Erstad this year, end of story. His stuff is deteriorating too quickly for my tastes. His fastball, which was once 94-95 mph, is now in the 89-91 mph range. Is it really deteriorating, or is it Coop wanting him to throw softer for more command and movement?
  18. So, Owens in CF is not a good idea, IMO. Owens in LF and Terrero in CF?
  19. QUOTE(Allsox @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) No. He may have "decent" stuff (Even that is debatable) but he has zero heart, zero brains and zero courage when he takes that mound and Don Cooper doesn't have anything in his bag of wizardry to help this Judy out. Decent stuff? He has great stuff, probably the best on the White Sox. But you're right, his downfall has been his lack of "fire" and very questionable pitch selections. I also wouldn't say he has no heart as he busts his ass day in and day out. I have heard nothing but great things about his work ethic.
  20. Also, I should add, we'd still probably suck even if we had Young in CF. Maybe not in the long-term, but right now, we would still suck. Probably even more since we would have someone like Floyd pitching in Vazquez spot, and we wouldn't have had any of Erstad's key hits. With this all being said, I don't even think Young will be anything special like everyone is making him out to be.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:27 PM) Oh good grief, please tell me this is sarcasm. Yeah, maybe not the second part... I didn't realize Young was on a tear since April. The original trade was a questionable one, but I had no problem with the deal Vazquez got in the offseason.
  22. QUOTE(Allsox @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, good one! Oh wait, you're serious? So Vazquez is not a good pitcher?
  23. A guy I would like (not in the first) would be SS Danny Worth from Pepperdine. He is one of those grindy type of players, but more in the mold of players on Twins. He doesn't have much power, but he has good gap to gap power (yes, he likes to hit a word barely used on here, line-drives), can hit for a decent average and has decent speed. But where he shines is with the glove. He is as sure-handed as they come, and while he only has decent arm strength, he has a very quick release and is very accurate. He doesn't have great range either, but he cheats and guesses a lot which makes up for that. Gary Brown is another interesting guy to take early. He is super fast and does all the things right.
  24. As much you don't want someone to get injured, it is kinda good now that Erstad will hopefully not get his 600 AB's this year, resulting in a 6 million dollar payday for him, most likely.
