  1. Joe Nathan, Boof Bonser, and Fransico Lirano for A.j. Pierzynski.... Nancy Pelosi San Fransisco Giants, what was she thinking? But to be honest, if those 3 went to any other team, they'd probably suck.
  2. Ouch... Danks just doesn't have it tonight. His fastball is topping out at about 87-88, and he can't get his good curve over.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:04 PM) Watching Danks and Jenks pitch are the bright spots in Sox games, as well as watching Thome hit against righties. Besides that, it's an incredibly dull team. Well, PK is heating up, so I look forward to his AB's.
  4. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:01 PM) Too old, doesn't hit lefties any longer (with tonight's blooper the exception), won't get you much more than 20 stolen bases, he's injury-prone on that turf...I just think his body is too beaten down. Essentially, we need the type of players who will be maturing and entering their primes in the next 2-3 seasons, and that's why Castillo, who would have made more sense in 2005 or 2006, wouldn't have much of a future with the White Sox. And that's the second homer by Morneau off Danks, both times creating a 3-1 lead (I think). Nope, the first one was against Santana, and he shut us out, I believe.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) Actually saw a guy in the mall in Arcadia, CA a few weeks ago wearing a #8 Jackson White Sox Jersey. In excellent shape. Went up to him and complimented him on that one. It probably was Bo in disguise... we all know he loves wearing his old White Sox stuff.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 29, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) He had/has a gigantic forehead. I like how you threw in the option of him possibly getting some sort of surgery done to reduce his forehead size in the past few years... made me chuckle. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 29, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) Noberto Martin back in the day. More recently I liked Jeff Abbott and Greg Norton. Jeff Abbott was going to be a stud. But someone f-d with his swing, and then it went all down hill from there. Even though he wasn't the hitting coach back then, I blame Greg Walker.
  7. Greg Walker... It amazes me how some people can say he is one of the best hitting coaches in baseball with a straight face.
  8. Another one of my favorites was Craig Wilson. I remember he hit a homer in his first career AB.
  9. Who are some of your favorite lesser know ex White Sox? Not players like Rowand or Thomas, but the backup/situational players. Two of my personal favorites are Liefy (Jeff Liefer) and the Milk Man (Herbert Perry).
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) I dunno, I totally understand Mr. Koch's condition...but i'm still uncertain as to how exactly that leads ot you losing 7-8 mph off your fastball in 1 summer. I read that article a long time ago, but I think I recall reading that this certain disease causing loss of strength.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 29, 2007 -> 06:23 PM) Erstad - CF Cintron - 2B Thome - DH Dye - RF Konerko - 1B AJ - C Crede - 3B Mack - LF Uribe - SS Danks Castillo - 2B Punto - 3B Cuddyer - RF Morneau - 1B Hunter - CF Redmond - C Cirillo - DH Kubel - LF Bartlett - SS Bonser thank you sir...
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) I dunno, we lost 1 year of Foulke before he hit FA right? Yes, Koch sucked. But Cotts had a dominant 05 to help us win a ring and has been turned into another hard thrower who may well wind up being another good releiver. Oh, I know, but for a while there it seemed to be a bad trade because of how bad Koch pitched, but Koch likely sucked because of that mysterious disease he had http://www.ktvu.com/news/9264350/detail.html
  13. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 29, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) That trade set the White Sox back several years. And while it's impossible to guess whether Williams may have overlooked Colon (among other deals) if Wells and Fogg remained on the club, those two would have been welcomed additions to the 02' rotation; 03' as well. Liefer deserved better...
  14. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 29, 2007 -> 06:00 PM) I knew someone who pick that one. Amazing. A trade that has worked out fabulously for us, and its somehow one of the worst ever. In five years, sure, we may look back and wish we had Young. MAYBE. Or maybe not. Either way, we got an above average SP for a big question mark, so its kind of ridiculous to even mention it as one of the worst trades ever. I do agree with you here, though. The signing itself wasn't the big negative - its the fact that the signing meant we were passing up on other opportunities. ANY other opportunities. Yeah, I agree. This is one of those trades you can't really judge for at least 5 years. Another questionable one was Foulke for Cotts and Koch trade. There were some other minor prospects who sucked in that deal also.
  15. Todd Ritchie and Kip Wells for Todd Ritchie... It still pisses me off to this day. I remember when Fogg got his shot in September with us. He stuck out like the first 4 batters he faced. Now, neither Fogg or Wells turned out to be anything special, but they were/are both quality guys for the end of the rotation, and had more potential then a useless Ritchie anyway. Fogg and Wells could have come in real handy in the 2002-2004 era for us.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 28, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) I'm assuming it's simply because that's what they want to focus on, and they also want Sweeney to work on CF reads and defense. Fields is the closest thing they have to a SS right now, and they aren't gonna play him at 2B, a position Tomas can handle. Getz has been hurt. Even so, he should be called up...
  17. I remember this old baseball game I think from 93 for the Sega Game Gear... Never had so much fun before. Always the White Sox. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:10 AM) Bo at his finest: That's about as close as you can get to the real thing.
  18. Gio is gonna be the key factor on if this trade was a success or not.
  19. Well, right now, we are bad period.
  20. Why is Anderson DH'ing? Does it have something to do with that injury he had a while ago? I think Fields would be a defensive disaster at SS, but I'm probably wrong. Getz didn't play today. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get moved up to AAA.
