Call up Owens and either Anderson or Sweeney. DL Erstad and send Gonzalez back down. Bat Owens leadoff in LF, and have Anderson or Sweeney play center and bat last.

White Sox vs. Blue Jays, 5/31/07 (L)

Milledge and Joe Smith for Buehrle....... I know, it would never happen, but one can dream. -
QUOTE(Allsox @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) I luv to see Mark Buehrle in a White Sox uni for life but that stupid-ass extension they just gave for that pile of garbage called Vazquez pretty much nulled any extension for Mark. KW will lament that Vaz trade for a loooooong time cuz he inadvertently sacrificed his best lefty and Chris Young would look pretty decent in CF right now. What's your problem with Vaz? That was a good extension considering what pitchers with worse stuff and track records got this offseason. And he is a good pitcher. Plus, Erstad has out-played Young this season..... Just saying.

maggs, like I said before in the gamethread, I completely agree. Pre-05, Kenny was considered a horrible GM. It really looks like in 05 he caught lighting in a bottle. Kenny needs to go, and Rick Hann looks like he could do a great job. Ozzie needs to go as well. It seems like he is a 10 game losing streak from completely exploding (only 5 more to go!). Our minor league system and scouts are pretty damn bad as well. We have some good 'spects, but that all. We need a new hitting coach with a new philosophy as well. Same goes for all the minor league hitting coaches as well. I know we have that one really good pitching instructer in AA, but he is the only one I hear good things about. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:20 PM) Value of these players is dropping daily-dont expect much if it happens. Well, Dye should get something good if he continues to hit okay. Iguchi and Crede need to get red hot though. But like others have said, even if we are 20 games out at the break, KW would be to smug to go into rebuild mode.

QUOTE(lord chas @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) this team needs some heart And the only way you're gonna get that is with some young players who have something to prove. This team had their glory in 05, appearantly for most of them, that was enough.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:10 PM) problem is, I think the Sox will feed off a weak NL in June and they'll be in sniffing distance at the trade deadline. Not that means that I think the way they're constructed/playing they're better than you say they are, but they'll have the illussion and Ozzie and KW will buy it I hope JD, Crede, and Iguchi all tear the cover off the ball around the trade deadline. Get something for them.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:08 PM) KW has had the highest payroll in the AL central every year since 2001 and has won one division. He needs to go, its his time. Clean out the organization, its clear we are not headed in a great direction. Our minor leagues are horrible and our major league team is old and slow, worst possible combo. Promote Rick Hahn who is a more numbers guy and not a feel guy and lets see where he takes us. I completely agree... QUOTE(TheOcho @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:10 PM) Mark is going to get a s***load of $$ this offseason. I will miss him. Might as well trade him to a conteder and get a big time prospect for him... Possible suiters are the Mets and Braves, and then there is always the Cards, but they probably wouldn't make a move until the offseason as they suck now anyway. -
I personally wouldn't mind Josh Fields. I don't know if that is because I want three Josh Fields or maybe because this team needs future bullpen help.

2004 #1 overall pick Matt Bush moves to mound

Wasn't he considered to be like a late first round pick in that draft to? Padres aren't like the Braves... -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 31, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) Has Gio added a sinker or cutter to his repetioure? After a 9-2 GO/FO performance last night, Gio's GO/FO ratio is now up to 1.37 which is well above his career high which, IIRC, is around 1.00. Didn't Heads or somebody put in interview questions for Gio? It'll be interesting to see if he talks about adding a pitch to get the ball on the ground more. From reading that interview, he has worked on a new better changeup. Possibly this new changeup could be dropping in the zone a lot.... Also, what was up with this... They make rules on where you have to wear your pants now?

PK should be batting cleanup again... -
That looked like Clark was never near the ball. He was a good two-three feet away from the ball the whole time, even when ARod might have said something. He should have caught that ball, it was his all the way.

I just noticed I had my title changed..... Niiiiice!

Also, I think I should add, I have no problem with this type of play. Players do it all the time. I personally am I big anti-Arod guy, but there is nothing wrong with that play. However, I don't like how he purposely knocked the ball out of the glove in 04, as that could have caused an injury, and was against the rule book. Or that play he pulled against us in 05. Well, I didn't see the play, but from the sounds of it, it was a routine pop up and whoever was closer should have called for it and made the catch. In that type of play, it doesn't matter who the leader of the infield is. As long as it isn't the pitcher of course.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 31, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) Sorry BearSox. I was just shocked to read that. Is that what was being said up here back then? It was when I was being a stupid optimistic and actually believed what KW and the org said...

Also, Movies really don't scare me anymore (yeah, I'm over 14), mainly because it is easy for me to be able to guess what is gonna happen... But I am squirm-ish when I see someone getting hacked away by an ex. The things that scare me are the things that make you think. Like this... http://www.ufodigest.com/news/0806/bek.html QUOTE(Shadows @ May 31, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) It was supposed to be from Aliens, they prolly just put that one there as a joke I wish all of the scenes worked, only some have a video.. that return of the living dead one was more funny than scary with that crazy zombie asking for brains haha.. Yeah, I realized that after I made the post... what a great Movie Spaceballs was though. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 31, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) 'The Shining' and 'The Exorcist' should have the top 10 slots. You guys can fight over the rest. The exorcist freaked me out. I was about 10 I think when I first saw it, and I couldn't sleep in my room because my brother always freaked me out (he was about 14).

How is that one scene from spaceballs scary? and ranked in the top 5 (no. 4)? EDIT: I didn't realize that they were actually referring to the movie Alien...

QUOTE(Steff @ May 31, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) OK, I hope I get a bit of a pass on this since I was not around when this was posted.... But I was down in AZ for 4 weeks and none of the above was true at that time. edit: 4 weeks not 7.. don't I wish. My god, don't remind me...

Do we even have a chance vs. Halladay... I see him throwing one hell of a gem. -
Good old memories of when I still had hope....

Catcher - We need a MLB ready guy. Like Salty from Atlanta or Clement from Seattle. A.J. has been slowing down, and he still swings a decent stick, but we need someone for the future. I like Lucy, but I think he still has a way to go. Trade Hall to a contender to make him happy as he probably won't want to stay here if we aren't going to compete. 1B/DH - Konerko has to stay, IMO. Thome has to stay not for political reasons but because he has a no trade clause and would only go to Cleveland or Cubs or back to Phillie if we were to trade, and both of those teams don't need him. 2B - I like Gooch a lot, but he has regressed in just about every aspect of the game. I hope he gets hot and can bring us something decent via. trade. Get someone young in to replace him. 3B - I hope he heats up as well, and we could get someone like Erick Aybar for him... that is if he passes his physical. Place Fields in. SS - Uribe's 2 weeks or whatever it was, was indeed an aberration, and he is back to his horrible ways. He is too expensive to keep after this year. Maybe pick up his option and trade him, or just trade him now. LF - Sweeney, please CF - Erstad has been a pleasant surprise, but if he gets 600 AB's this year, we would have to pay him 6 million to keep... I don't know, but I don't want Erstad for 6 million... RF - Trade Dye to somewhere like the Dodgers or Angels who could both use a stick. We could get some good prospects from the Dodgers. SP - Keep Vazquez, Garland, and Danks (and Gio, Egbert, and Russell in the minors), see what Buehrle would bring via trade, but if there are no good offers try and resign him. BP - Thornton is the only one really who is worth keeping... you don't trade lefties with his type of stuff.
