Crede Out Again, Possible DL Trip (per Score)
BearSox replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) Aybar is so overrated on this site, it's scary. I don't care if some overrate him. I have been a big fan of his for a while now. He has a better upside then his brother Willy (who is with the Braves now), and could become the type of SS we need. He has great range, a cannon arm as well, and can pick it at SS, a lot like Uribe. But the difference is, he is a switch hitter who has blazing speed and can do a decent job at getting on base. He isn't going to walk a lot, but he will still probably get more then Uribe. And with his speed, he can turn ground outs into singles, and possible DP balls into ground outs, something which Uribe doesn't have enough speed to do. He won't be a future leadoff hitter like some think he might be, but he would be a perfect guy for the 9-hole, sometimes considered second leadoff. -
Who are some options for us at SS in 2008

Please workout a trade with LAA for Erick Aybar. They have Kendrick, Wood, Cabrera, Izturis, Figgins, and some more good MI prospects (they have that one guy at 2B, Rodriguez I think it is). They could spare one like Aybar -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) Maybe it's hindsight for you, but I wanted him moved this past offseason, but not for junk like Ervin Santana and Chone Figgins. Same here... I wanted a Aybar + maybe a little something else out of Crede in the offseason... -
Looks like you and especially your kid had a good night.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:39 AM) Thats all well and good, but it's not going to happen. That's why it's called a "If I was GM plan"...

Mike Lowell for Third Base next year?
BearSox replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I'll take your guys advice and not get into a Dunn argument as I think he is very overrated as well. -
Is AGon still up here, and if so, why?

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) Yep, and IIRC, Navarro had a very up-and-down career. He was terrible in his last two years in Milwaukee. A better way of saying that is that he sucked all his years with the White Sox, he sucked after the White Sox, and in fact, he sucked his whole career.

Also, we shouldn't make the same mistake that we did with BA, and not have a bona fide backup. We should have someone who is older and can shed some light for Fields, and when Fields is slumping or having an off day, you can put this vet at 3B. Jeff Cirillo immediately pops into my head. But I don't know how long the Twins have him signed for. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:05 PM) Are you telling me that you seriously believe the WORST that Josh Fields will do, is a guy who averages 40 homers a year? Wow. I forgot to mention with less power, but yes. -
QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) Sara Varone is the chick in washed's avi. He told me her name once and I dream of her every night. Yummy. Figures that she is on espanol tv... they super hot ones (news reporter or something like, right?) are only on espanol tv.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) Gio and Danks have the ability to be pretty special (not Liriano/Santana special, but still pretty damn good) and I wouldn't deal either of them. I think Gio has the potential to be a top Ace in the league... Danks has the ability to be like another MB (with better stuff! )

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) When was the last time that JR allowed his GM to sign a pitcher to anything more than a three- or four-year deal? I'd love to see both Mark and Jon ink five-year deals, but history suggests that it's probably not going to happen. Blame Jamie Navarro for that...

Grady Sizemore, Curtis Granderson, Jim Thome, Andruw Jones, and a couple others all suck... Worst case scenario for Fields is a right handed version of Adam Dunn (I don't think anyone can K as much as him though). Best case is a right handed power hitter who strikes out a lot. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) Whitewashed in '05 = teh best. omg, I cant believe I forgot about that one... you are completely correct. But just to make it fair, who has the best picture one?

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:50 AM) I'd find a way to get these players: Yeah, one is an ump, but I'm sure she can play a little 3B. Is anyone else visualizing those too having a hot arguement and them just making out? I know they're sisters, but damn..

EvilJester has a nice new (I think it is new???) avy... And then there is caufield with the always beutiful Jessica Alba. I am sure I am forgetting about some others as well. EvilJester vvv

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) If anybody wants to buy a Wii, mine is up for sale. It's in great condition and has 2 wiimotes and three games (Wii Sports, Zelda, Smooth Moves.) If anybody wants to trade me an xbox 360 for it, I'm up for that too. PM me if you're interested in either. If you posted this in like 9-12 months from now... I'd probably be VERY interested... I just don't have the money to spend now.

I have to say I like baeutox's the best... That team would gain some youth and be able to compete on a nightly basis. Also, I love how you got Salty in there. He is involved in my "if I was GM" plan as well

Ozzie is a bigger man then me for taking out Garland. Right now, this bullpen is untrustable with any lead. I wouldn't have cared if Garland was nearing 200 pitches... The biggest thing about tonight was PK coming around. I personally love PK and he has been favorite Sox player since coming here in the Mike Cameron trade in 99 I think it us. It saddened me and pissed me off to do so bad. And the sad thing is that today was an offensive outburst at 6... Any other team scores 10-12 tonight. But hey, Ill take all we can get. Anyone else still wondering how JD missed that 2-0 nothing straight fastball right down the middle in the first?

Dye and Konerko have just been brutal this year. We need a real cleanup hitter...

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 04:33 PM) The LA Dodgers, btw, are last in the big leagues in home runs and 10/16 teams in the NL in terms of runs scored. I've been thinking about the Dodgers as a trade partner for Dye. But how would it work? Have Dye play 1B and move Garciaparra to 3B? Or have Luis Gonzalez play less, and have Ethier move to LF with Dye in RF? Also, what do you think the Dodgers would be willing to give up? I want to say Matt Kemp, but I doubt that.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) LOL, look at some of the signings/deals that Kenny has pulled off over the past five years: Loaiza, Garcia, Contreras, Dye, Thome, Jenks, Danks, getting Paulie to re-sign at less than market value, etc. Hell, even El Duque and Pods were valuable for a season. Consider also that up until last season, his did this within the framework of a middle-market ($50-$70 million) payroll. Even if you conveniently ignore the fact that KW put together a team that won the organization's first championship in 88 freaking years, it's difficult to say that he's been a "mediocre" GM in any sense of the word. You forget to mention the many horrible/bad moves KW made... QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) wow - ok then - how many rings does he need in order to be considered a winner? He has the best winning percentage out of any GM in White Sox history. The Sox won 90 or more games in back-to-back seasons for just the fifth time in franchise history and first time since 1963-65. Chicago also recorded 90-plus wins in consecutive seasons in 1954-55 and 1905-06. The 189 combined wins in 2005-06 are the White Sox highest total in back-to-back campaigns since winning 193 in 1964-65. tell me again how many times the White Sox have been to the playoffs under KW...
