White Sox vs. Astros, 6/10/07 (W)
BearSox replied to The Ginger Kid's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Not a lot to talk about when the Sox are going good I see... Only 7 pages! If the score was reverse, we'd be at page 30 or something Well, it is good to see some good baseball from the White Sox once in a while. -
I was watching the news report of this via a cell phone yesterday. Pretty wild. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 10:02 AM) Picture the wheelchair as it crosses in front of the truck. The truck's grill is facing the side of the chair. The handles of the chair, are behind the chair. How did they become lodged in the grill from that angle? Maybe he saw he truck coming, tried turning around, and half way he got caught In his interview yestrday, he wasn't to much help as he said a total of 1 or 2 words for each question.

Well a few positives I noticed at the yard yesterday...
BearSox replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Another positive is that Day has looked really good in his last few outings. In his first outing or so, his slider just swept with no real break. But now, he has that late breaking movement on it with that tilt. It is a nasty pitch to go along with his best pitch (IMO), his fastball. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) I'd rather keep Kemp out of the clubhouse. I also doubt Buehrle gets 20 mil per. Kemp isn't as bad as everyone keeps saying. He had a little squirmish with his buddy and was settled very quickly. And aside from that thing last year, he hasn't been a bad citizen really. And this team could use a player with some life. Plus, he's no Elijah Dukes.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) Tell the Dodgers we want Ethier in exchange for Dye. I'd be surprised if we net much for Dye unless he starts heating up soon. He may be affordable, but he looks like he aged 5 years during the offseason. I'd prefer Kemp myself, but like you said, unless Dye starts to heat up, we won't get anything worth while unless we find one desperate GM. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) I think Buehrle would be the only one we'd regret trading. He'd bring back good talent, but he's the one guy I want to try hardest to resign. I just have this feeling that as soon as he becomes a FA, he is going to sign a BIG deal with the Cards. And I have a feeling he will be receiving something like a 5-6 year deal worth 100-120 mil contract this offseason. And I am opposed to giving that type of deal to any pitcher unless they are ridiculous like Santana or Peavy, in which case they'd receive a lot more then Buehrle most likely anyway. I'd rather either trade him for top of the line talent, or let him finish his reign as a White Sock and receive the draft picks for him. I'd have no problem if he was indeed to resign though. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) Count was the guy I wanted to move prior to this year. His season has gotten better, but he's still got that NTC. Agreed. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) The only problem with dealing Iguchi is that our best inhouse replacements are Andy Gonzalez, Alex Cintron or Jason Bourgoeis, or possibly even Tomas Perez, all of which will make me vomit. Agreed. Plus, if bringing him back ment a better chance at signing Ichiro, then I'm all for it QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) That and there's no reason to trade either of Aardsma or MacDougal. we'd be trading both at lowest value. Agreed once again.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) On the bright side, you look at that deal, and if none of the three resigns, you get more supplemental picks with Linebrink and Cameron than just Dye. Yeah, but more then likely Broadway finds himself over to Minnesota and dominates.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) Greene is all of 7 months younger than Juan. With a career OBP of .312, he would be a slight upgrade over Juan I suppose. There's not a trade that is going to happen that is going to propel us to 1st, much less a playoff spot. This isn't a lifechanging trade I'm proposing, just one that might help this year but would give us the first chance at re-signing a very good veteran bullpen arm. Mark will net us some great prospects like maybe Colby Rasmus and Jaime Garcia from St. Louis, but Jermaine most likely isn't going to bring back even a Carlos Gomez, or Lastings Milledge from the Mets. Nothing could bring us a Carlos Gomez as he is as untouchable as they come. And the Mets don't even need Dye so they wouldn't even be trading for him.
-
The problem is with your trade is that Linebrink and Cameron are both free agents after the year. And neither of them would be big enough upgrades to push us to 1st place and the playoffs this year, IMO. We would be better off trying to sign them in the offseason if we wanted them.

I posted this in a different thread, but I'll post it here as well... Adam Melhuse was traded today by the A's to Texas (Chris Stewart getting sent down I guess) and Kurt Suzuki was called up. I know some people wanted him instead of Lucy.

Dye will still draw some interest for his power and not being overly expensive. But odds are, if he continues to hit this way, we won't get anything in return for him. If he heats up hopefully against NL pitching for the next 2 weeks, I could see the Dodgers making a run for him, and we could probably get a good MLB ready prospect if thats the case. Buehrle is our top trade chip right now, and we could probably get 2-3 really good young players from a contender from him right now. Braves are a possible suiter for him, IMO (Jarrod Salty!). Jose Contreras should have some good trade value as well. He is a veteran with good stuff still and signed for another couple of years, and is putting up good numbers so far this season. He has a no trade clause (limited?) I think, but I could see him waiving it for the Mets because of El Duque. The only problem with that is the Mets rotation has been lights out, but I don't think Hernandez will be dealing like this all season. The Braves are an option as well. Iguchi, we'd be better off keeping, and then deciding in the offseason if he is worth keeping. Mac and Aardsma both could bring something in. Of the two, I'd rather keep Mac because he does have better stuff and I think he is the better overall pitcher. Dye will still draw some interest for his power and not being overly expensive. QUOTE(lord chas @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) rongey is a clown. every day hes got a new set of excuses no, he's been saying that for a while now... -
There are actually brain eating zombies that control the clubhouse. Doesn't matter who comes in, because they will have their brain eaten and become zombies as well.
-
Yeah, what the hell did Bochy do? I see in gameday he had like 10 different people in the 7 spot.
-
Hurt or not hurt, Owens has got to go, or learn how to hit.
-
If we could get Kevin Patterson to sign, that'd be something else.

Shelby has been ridiculous this past week or so. It would be nice to have a MI prospect with some upside.

Poll: Most Important Offseason Acquisition
BearSox replied to RME JICO's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
CF/Leadoff man, which would be Ichiro. He is getting older and will be 34, but he is the best thing available. The thing is, we'd need Iguchi back to help bring him in... -
I don't know, but the Yankees did take a switch pitcher.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) Why? He couldn't have made the NFL. He probably couldn't have made the AFL or CFL. He made it to the major leagues in baseball. He may not be any good, but he made it. The Bears like fast receivers... he should try out for them.
