    Forgetfulness

I was thinking I employ a number of techniques to avoid forgetting. I always park in the same area at the mall. I also have a certain row I park in at stores. I use my phone's calendar and alarm all the time. My license plate starts DWB, which reminds me of Foreigner's Dirty White Boy etc. I guess what I'm saying is my memory is about as long as FlaSoxxJim's sundial
  2. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 11:26 AM) I love how all these athletes give all their success up to God. My favorite is when they hit a homer and point to God. Yeah, cause God wanted you to hit a homerun. Absolutely, same as the ones that can't hit a home run unless they can listen to songs about b****es and view pictures of naked hos.
  3. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) You guys missed the point. It wasn't China that requested it, it was England that put that in there because of their ultra-PC-ness. And then there was my barb at the end about how I would bet that they wouldn't put a similar clause into effect were the olympics to be in the US. It's ok to criticize the US, but not our Chinese overlords. I agree that politics should be left out of it, but on the individual level, don;t people have any sort of free speech right to be rude if they want to? Other countries have also banned their athletes from speaking at these games. And it is fairly common through out the histopry of the games, even here in the US which is why I offered that picture. Also from the article
  4. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 10, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) Absolutely, and in some regard, I'd bet that a kitchen compares very well to a locker room. Baseball players generally don't have desks; comparing the corporate world to the athletic world is apples to oranges in my mind; once you get into upper management, it's obviously a completely different story, but locker rooms are quite crazy, and I would venture to guess that much of that stuff happens a ton. You may be surprised what your HR department will say about that topic. There are US laws regarding the subject. You may have noticed the harassment topic from time to time in the news.

    Forgetfulness

Damn, I can't find a book and I forgot an appointment today. And before y'all jump in, I know I'm old and feeble.
  6. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 09:49 AM) They should cancel them. The only award show that is judged by sales instead of artistic achievement. Some would say that the sales are the awards. People have an option to vote with their dollars, the strongest vote of all. Unless you prefer a couple people in an ivory tower deciding what is best. But that sounds like Communism to me, and I'm an American
  7. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 08:48 AM) How telling is this? I go to numerous message boards, and I have yet to find one with a thread about last nights Grammy's. They still are awarding Grammys? I thought thay cancelled them years ago. Where can I download the winners?

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 09:01 AM) please, continue the tour of Michigan City and Southsider's house.... And ladies and gentlemen, is an example of one too many jokes. Professionals call this painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa.
  9. Follow along As FlaSoxxJim is served . . . From Southsider2k5 QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 10, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) That's a good idea, thanks. And I'll know if it's been four hours because I'm kinda my own sundial too! QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 08:22 AM) and on your left you will see the World's Smallest Sundial

  11. AJ, catchers have to stick together. But I have developed less and less of attachments to players. As soon as they are no longer wanted we send them off, if they take a better deal we call them bums. So we cheer for whomever is filling the uniform at the moment.
  12. I'm in trouble. I have been avoiding BJ's Brewhouse ever since they opened a few months back. Stopped in last night. Deep dish pizza (have not had one in years) and white chocolate macadamia nut giant cookie with two scoops of vanilla ice cream (shared). And a couple selections of their beer.
  13. It seems to be more than just China trying to take politics out of the Olympics. I have mixed feelings. Are our athletes "Ambassadors" of the US in this celebration of the Olympic spirit? Should we respect the laws and customs of the country that is hosting the event, no matter how much we object to their way of life? I don't know, maybe this is the one venue that should be pure sports, or at least as pure as we can make it. "The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 10, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) I didn't realize cursing, listening to music with curses, or looking at Penthouse/Playboy was immoral. Can you do that at your work? Anyone here able to have a Penthouse out on their desk?
  15. Carter was criticized heavily when the US boycotted the 1980 Summer Olypic Games. The prevailing thought was the Olypics should be above politics. The Soxiets returned the favor and boycotted the 1984 games in Los Angeles. Again, politics should have taken a back seat to the spirit of the olympics, but probably never will.
  16. Wireless G should get you 54Mbps, Wireless B 11Mbps. Souds like maybe a different bottleneck. Does the laptop have enough Ram?
  17. Information on Stimulus Package The Administration and Congress have agreed to an economic growth package that would provide advance payments to many Americans. More details will be available soon, but here are some highlights: Starting in May, the Treasury will begin sending stimulus payments to more than 130 million individuals. The stimulus payments will go out through the late spring and summer. The vast majority of people receiving a payment only need to file a 2007 tax return as they normally would. The IRS will then do all the rest, including determining eligibility and payment amounts. The Treasury will work to quickly implement this important stimulus package. Additional details on timing of the check mail-outs will be available soon. The IRS.gov Web site will be the best source of information for all stimulus questions. This web page will contain all the latest information as it becomes available. The IRS and Treasury will be working closely with the Department of Veterans Affairs and Social Security Administration along with beneficiary organizations to ensure that all eligible individuals know what to do to receive a stimulus payment. Information on Rebate Scams Taxpayers should be aware that there are identity theft scams involving the proposed advance payment checks, known informally as rebates to many Americans. The IRS knows of at least one telephone scam making the rounds which uses the proposed rebates as bait. 18. I could not tell, does batting order matter? If the same 9 guys are on the field but they are batting in a different order, that is a different lineup correct?
  19. QUOTE(NUKE @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) Doing just fine. These days we're having far more difficulty fighting off boredom than anything else. We're just trying to run out the clock at this point. Some more good news, though, I now know the exact date I'll be leaving Baghdad. That would be April 6th. If you throw in travel time and such, I fully expect to be home in the US and back at my home base in Kansas on the 10th or 11th. That's great news!
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 08:28 AM) But let's leave Tex out of this... He didn't say 215 pesos* Based on today's exchange rate of 10.758 pesos to US$1
  21. Good luck to Foulke against everyone else except us.
  22. It is a workplace, just like an office or any other place that people work at. These are adult men, being asked to act like other adult men at work. But somehow they can't be successful following the same rules as every other adult who holds a job in the US. How sad that they can't act like grownups tyhat they are stuck in some High School mode. And I can't believe that anyone would advocate for immoral behavior over moral. Practice poraility in private and immorality in public!? Wow, someone's momma raised them right. Let's, get united behind immorality!!
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 9, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) My laptop is probably 6 months old(HP Dv2000). Right now, I have the Wireless G Router at home, but want to upgrade, because recent streams have been coming in choppy. Check what card you're laptop has, you will only go as fast as the slowest component. You may also wish to tune up your sysstems. Defrag the drives, check if you have a bunch of processes running in the background, etc.
