    Who is dieting?

Seriously PA, of the pictures you have posted, you look nowhere near 300. Pards, around these parts, we call that sandbagging . . .

    Sig Thread

I was just thinking how much I've enjoyed YASNY's sig and I I forget who has the Thomas quote but it's a great poster with a Marley avatar and I really like his posts and he shared some great Beatles unreales stuff, and damn it pisses me off I can't remember his screen name. Anyways, it would be a shame to lose those sigs. If you truly have a cool sig, post it here so that we have a historical record.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 01:22 PM) Same as mine. That was also that last time I voted for a Democrat for president. Once bitten, twice shy. We forget that all the hostages were returned home alive. Ford standing around with a stupid smile and a WIN button to save the economy, and Nixon's Checker Speech. Carter did a lot more good than bad, and set the stage for Reagan. In many ways we needed that transition.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) It's not Texsox being into it, it's about the voting public being into it. Obama is a captivating speaker, yet he doesn't really say a whole lot. His oratory skills are excellent, and he's riding that horse as far as it will carry him. YAS, seriously, try and find some of his longer speeches, they do say a lot. Problem is the candidates make so many stops in a day that they only have a few minutes wherever they go. And to make matters worse, the more a front runner, the more demands on their time, and the less time they have to say anything. I was surprised by all the candidates in that regard. The best analogy I have is a coach at a pep rally versus the coach meeting with his staff and players.
  5. First off there is a media spiral involved. The GOP has anointed her the DEM nominee five years ago and has been battling her ever since. And we know image is a media creation in todays politics. For some, she is a reminder of the sex scandals and the absurd on both sides impeachment proceedings. Bill we all know what sex is and we also know that removing a President over a bj is ridiculous, but both sides fought it out. Hillary is probably the most ruthless of the candidates and while we accept and even applaud that in men, we have a double standard for our women. She is probably more of a man than any of the men in the race. Many people "know" her and feel strongly about what she thinks and feels. Silly to really believe that, but they do. Some point to her settling in New York as some evil plot and a calculated move in her road to the White House. But how did the Bush family come to be in Maine, Florida, and Texas? For some reason, and I know that is what you are trying to distill with the question, we accept that from the Bush family, but not the Clintons. There is more I will add later but knowone reads posts over a few paragraphs .
  6. And let's remember they are a club, and can set some of their own rules. Lots of flexibility involved.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 11:58 AM) I think the point he is making deals with choice. Its one thing to choose to help people, its another to be forced. Taking valuemaking decesions away from people and making them government based gets into murky territory. It certainly does. But that is the function of our elected leaders. We are forced to accept certain roads, military actions, education programs, etc.
  8. Yeah, just cool enough to require long sleeves and pants, but not too cold to need a coat, and the sunshine, wow.
  9. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) this quote made me LOL: That is a real Sox fan. When you know to explain that, you're not a wanna be, you are hard core.
  10. If we judge teams by accomplishments, I have a hard time dismissing the Dolphins. When three or four teams manage a perfect season, hell one team, then we can start dismissing them. And I won't even go towards comparing teams in different sports. That's mental masturbation at its worst.
  11. Scanning some local coverage and confirmed by at least one poll, in Texas at least younger Hispanics are trending towards Obama, older to Hillary. In this portion of the border, President Clinton visited here several times, to pick up bundles from Mr. Alonzo Cantu as has Hillary. I thought that would be the swing, but it seems voters are looking past it. I believe for my area, Hillary would be the most benefit.
  12. I don't think it is the government owes you a retirement. If we have decided as a society it is better to feed and shelter the hungry and homeless, that would include the retired. I see social security, in part, as forced savings. It's the government saying, dammit, if we are responsible to feed and shelter you, we're going to mandate that you will contribute via payroll deductions. And as far as food and shelter, into the equation is reduction in crime and where to go for help. I'm as faith based as most here, if not more, but image a system where Churches ran all the soup kitchens. Would the Christian right really prefer a system where people listened to a Islamic or Satanic service in order to eat? I'm guessing not.
  13. Obama seems to be the favorite here, but it's very close. I'm surprised, very surprised.

    Ebay's demise

The system is flawed and since most people are so afraid of a negative feedback, it holds everyone in check and we get this worthless system.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:37 AM) Based on Primary results, Obama would score a mid 30's. We'll see.

    Ebay's demise

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) now we're getting somewhere. I knew there was something more to it. We've both had negative experiences from two different sides. eBay is screwing the pooch by lumping me in with bigger businesses. They should perfect the system, not elminate it. Talk about thinking inside the box that's inside another box. As a seller I always refund whenever someone asks. So I never would have had your problem. Including the person who bought a video game from me, played it for at least a week, then claimed it was defective. Managed to work in two other systems when I got it back. No problem, I re listed, it cost me a couple bucks, but she was happy. I was also as accurate as I could be with why it was negative.
  17. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) Nah, Clinton's good for at least 20% in Utah. Kerry was good for 26%, I'm guessing the DEM candidate for change is in the teens at best.
  18. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) Weren't you the one telling me to stay on my side of the street, Tex? :-P
  19. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:16 AM) Good question. But the truth is we only have three major candidates left. However, on the bright side, UT loves Romney. Romney - 90% McCain - 5% Wow. Predicting the future . . . However, on the bright side, UT loves white men. McCain - 90% Clinton - 5% Wow.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:12 AM) You are really into physical appearance when it comes to candidates. Nixon lost to Kennedy, in part, because he sweated like Mike Tyson in a spelling bee during their televised debate. We want our president looking "Presidential". Confident, strong, etc.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) Well that and making babies Already been done and I am surprised that you would miss the reference.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 08:53 AM) So when is the last time we have had four major candidates left in the game at this stage of an election cycle? It's been a while, but I'm not certain how "in" Romney is. It's looking pretty bleak on the delegate count. What will be interesting is looking back in 5 or 10 years and seeing why some excellent candidates did not gain any traction. I think we all thought Rudy G would have been a factor, and Thompson certainly had potential. But they were like a wet sparkler on the 4th of July in states where they are still legal.
  23. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) This was a disturbingly short rant. The ADHD manifesto? I posted this earlier in the video thread, but here it is again to make sure all the candidates have rattled Tex's cage real good. I added that to my blog excellent
  24. This is starting to have a Kennedy-esque feel to it. He would be the best looking President since Kennedy.

    Who is dieting?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) OK, I'm in too. My death march diet progress is now on display for SoxTalkers everywhere. My sig ain't being used for anything else.
