  1. QUOTE(Disco72 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) Did the show say that the actual, physical bills (or coins) were overseas? Or just a broad statement about the 'currency' in general, because while that could be possible for the reasons discussed above (plus 'dollarized' economies), 2/3 does seem high given the size of our economy. The show was on counterfeiting bills and yes, they mentioned the actual physical dollars are over seas in circulation.
  2. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) you guys are just un-american go vote for Hillary...hippies.... I'm building sand castles to support our troops!
  3. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) At least we won't be arguing about Erstad vs. Anderson in CF. Sure we can.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) It makes sense to me that if Danks problem was in fact fatugue, that he became afraid to challege hitters early in the count, because he was afraid of his stuff at that point. Instead he was just trying to beat people with the perfect pitch, which usually leads to 3-2 counts and walks. Sometimes it really is just that simple. Nice analysis.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) I'm pretty disappointed I don't lead this one, I'll have to somehow be even more of a pest next year. You are such an idiot for even thinking that cheap joke. No wonder I'm not winning funniest
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 07:59 AM) While it doesn't bother me as much as some, I don't think the jersey is worth much. Personally I think letting troops into games for free (if they do still do that) is a nicer gesture. I also agree that if they really wanted to do something, they could donate a portion of sales of these uni's to places like the VA hospitals, or for families that have lost family members to war, etc. Exactly. The cynic in me sees a marketing ploy to get people into the games and profits for the companies doing these tributes. Let's buy a support our troops magnet and support the 9 year old kid in China that makes them.
  7. Is there a line that gets crossed and then it's a meaningless gesture?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 05:24 PM) Oh, and stay out of the "Food" thread. It doesn't help. Notice the posts are like 3:1 between those threads.
  9. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) It kind of looks like the guy just poked McCain in the eye. The guy even has his finger extended pointing in McCain's direction, as if retracting from the original eye poke. Isn't that President Bush?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) You thought Daniel was the protagonist? He was the most evil character in the movie. Oops sorry, I meant his son, H.W. But after thinking about it some more, the townspeople? Society?
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 3, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) Heh. Utah has its first poll out. I'm sure everyone will be shocked to learn that Romney is leading. Here are the numbers... Romney: 84% McCain: 4% Those are not typos. Romney may break the state record for the biggest margin of victory ever in a state-wide vote. Is there any connection to the two nice young men who just peddled up and dropped off some Romney '08 materials?
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) Boy this kid doesn't paint himself as a very simpathetic figure does he. Lying or not, you just want to punch the guy in the face after reading his comments. I'm with you. My cop career would end as soon as I faced someone like that.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 11:40 AM) I saw an article recently (maybe was linked from here, I don't recall), trying to pinpoint the feeling they got from There Will Be Blood, as well as No Country For Old Men. In both cases, its excellent filmmaking, and you know that you are impressed... and yet, you feel a bit empty afterwards. The article pointed something out - neither movie has a real protagonist. Jones' character in No Country is closest, but really, he is more of the observer character. It seemed that Daniel was the protagonist. It also made sense that Upton Sinclair, of The Jungle fame, wrote the book Oil that this mnovie was based on. The evil person was a pro business millionaire who harmed his employees and the Minister renounced Jesus at the end and said he was a false prophet etc. Much like the evil businesses and Socialism in The Jungle

    Who is dieting?

This guy. Basically just watching what I eat and trying to walk more. I'm at 228 and want to push the scale at 190, so I have a long way to go. I was thinking MOnday weigh ins and perhaps using this thread for tips and accountability.
  15. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 12:14 PM) The problem is when you leave your keys in the ignition. I believe a stolen car if broken into is very different from leaving your car running and having it stolen. They cover you if you are drunk driving, etc. I've never seen an exception for being stupid and careless.
  16. BTW, I just figured out why I was nominated, I'm the designated driver
  17. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) No, no, not a growler. I'm talking BIG bottle. BIGGER than a growler. The bottle is like 3' tall. 3' tall? Like

Believe it or don't, there are not many good Mexican restaurants here, far more and better Asian and Sushi joints.

My daughter took me to There Will Be Blood, she has seen it three times and loved it. Excellent three hours. I can't really describe it, it's kind of like Howard Hughes meets Texas Wildcatter with a twist of Road to Wellville.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) While I do like Chipotle, I feel the workers are given cash for the least amount of meat they put on the burrito. Sometimes it is a joke. But I do like the food. Also, if anyone has been to any of the Tacos El Norte restaurants in the NW burbs, it is worth it. Best Tacos Ever!!! Do they have bistek tacos on corn tortillas with onions and cilantro? yummy, I call them South Texas sliders. Best post drinking food.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) This was not Flattop Grill, they have never been in these locations. Flattop grill is the name of a chain of restarurants. Sorry, I should have been clearer. Those types of restaurants. Both I went to were one trip.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) Not all you can eat, where?? One was in Shaumburg, but they were in business 12 years ago. The other was in Harlingen, Texas. So I stopped going. Have they changed?

The only thing I don't like is the portions. Even if I stacked the bowl soooo high, it cooks down to nothing. And the last one I was at was not all-you-can-eat.
