Gross, Hotel Room Glasses
A little too much DNA on that bedding? I laugh when people ask me how you stay clean while backpacking for a few days. I'll take my own DNA filled sleeping bag to hotel sheets anyday.

Universal Healthcare
QUOTE(ptatc @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) I base most of what I know on Universal Healthcare on friends and relatives from other countries. They all say the same thing. Everyone wants a job where once you are high enough in the company you can get private insurance for healthcare and don't have to deal with the universal healcare system. They don't care what the job is as long as that is an option. They all hate the universal system. Except those that have no insurance. The entrepenuer that wants to start a business but $1200 per month for private insurance for his wife and kids is too much. Etc.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) Seriously. I have some major problems with things going on and people in the system, but, the position that everything is awful in here sometimes rivals the negativity in PHT. For Republicans, anything that moves us away from 1950 is terrible. Abortion was illegal, Mexicans were legal. No dirty words on the radio, no homosexuals flaunting their lifestyle down mainstreet. We supported wars dammit and we won them! Everyone knew there was one True GOD, the only enemy was communists and we knew where they were, and Joe was going to find the rest. None of this Make Love, Not War Hippie nonsense. Factories could send pollutants into the air and water and keep Americans employed. Kept the government out of the workplace. Ahh, the good old days.

A cannibal was walking through the jungle and came upon a restaurant operated by a fellow cannibal. Feeling somewhat hungry, he sat down and looked over the menu . . . + Tourist: $5 + Broiled Missionary: $10.00 + Fried Explorer: $15.00 + Baked Democrat or Grilled Republican: $100.00 The cannibal called the waiter over and asked, 'Why such a price difference for the politician?' The cook replied, "Have you ever tried to clean one? They're so full of s***, it takes all morning."- Catch-All Anything Thread

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) Yes, a candidate has to have 50%+1 of the delegates in a convention to take the nod. That's how I understood it. So if this becomes a floor fight, I give Obama about the lowest chances. Clinton has the "machine" and Edwards is not in the worst of the fray between those two.- New Hampshire Primary Thread
What I am thinking Mr. Kickass, does one candidate have to have a majority? Is there any minimum that a candidate has to reach? I'm also thinking back to Kennedy trying to have some of Carter's delegates released back in 1980.- New Hampshire Primary Thread
Perhaps someone that is following the Dem sider closer than I can answer this. It seems that Clinton and Obama have the resources to stay in until the convention. I'm guessing Edwards may be able to as well, but that would be tougher. If it stays undecided going into the convention, does Edwards have a chance to be the pick? Or would Edwards become the King or Queen maker? I can't see Obama supporters crossing to Clinton and vice versa. Kind of a smaller version of the Adams - Clay corrupt bargain that torpedoed Jackson in 1852.- Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(Soxy @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) Last night my cat bit the hell out of my hand while I was petting her when she saw the dog. I got blood ALL over two towels and my just washed comforter. The dog then threw up repeatedly for the next three hours and the new dog had it flying out the other end. When I went to the doctor this morning because my hand is uber swollen, the prescription he gave me (apparently cat bites get infected a lot) wouldn't get filled because eff'n CVS wouldn't recognize the new carrier of my prescription plan. After two hours fighting with them and MedCo I finally got my damn augmentum. Ugh. Worst day. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play? Thanks, my burn feels muuuuuch better.- Meanest Mom on the Planet?
QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 01:55 PM) I guess it's cool that she's standing by her terms (one being no alcohol), but come on lady, your son is 19 years old. If you don't think he should be allowed to drink alcohol, well, that's just ridiculous. Once a person becomes of college age, it should really be up to him to decide. It's not like she found heroine or cocaine in his car. Now, if the kid was 16 years old and still in high school and under the supervision of his parents, I'd be fine with this. But, he's obviously not. He is considered an "adult" by law and is his own man at this point. Don't sell his car to prove a point that is dumb. I'm guaran-damn-tee you she was drinking alcohol or smoking weed or some s*** when she was 19. And if she wasn't, well, good for her. But she is not her son. Yes sir, he is his own man. Too bad his mommy had to buy a car for him. Wow, What a man!- New Hampshire Primary Thread
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) On NPR, anecdotally, a lot of independents chose to vote for McCain instead of Obama because of Obama's perceived large lead. Interesting, those are the two candidates I woulod vote for if allowed to vote in both primaries. I don't think the ballot was poorly designed. Rotating is better, and evens out the advantages, but even then it is never fair. And I remember from my Poli Sci classes, top of the ballot is huge.- New Hampshire Primary Thread
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 11:29 AM) And in both directions. In every state, but sadly more so in the south, there will be an element of racism that will hurt Obama, and Richardson. But, and probably just as bad, there are some in SC who will vote for Obama because he IS black. It shouldn't matter, but it does, to some folks. The one good thing from all this is that it clearly matters to a lot fewer people than it did a few decades ago - otherwise Obama would not be in it. Looking over the list of black congressional members, the South does seem to have elected more black members than the north. I'm not certain that in today's south, it will be any better or worse for him.- Clemens on 60 Minutes
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) Clemens was taping the call. If he would have been screaming, the next words you'd hear would have been "Roid rage?" Depeding on your point of view, any conclusion can be made from that tape.- New Hampshire Primary Thread
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) As for racism, I don't doubt it will play a role - Isn't that a shame? I agree with your assessment, but God help us for judging a candidate for reasons unrelated to their abilities in fulfilling their Oath of Office.- New Hampshire Primary Thread
QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) I dont want my president "faking" her image to get elected. THat is not acceptable to me. She is who she is. We have seen her for almost a year. This not her, this is an image. No one has a natural "image" that we want as President. The "Presidential" act or persona can not be carried around 24/7. So we watch as they each audition for the role.- Skiles Fired
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 25, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) I just want to thank Skiles for making the Bulls a real fun team to watch for three seasons. I won't forget how the team was transformed from the laughing stock of the entire NBA to one of the most respected teams in the NBA (they may not have been the best, but for 3 seasons they played harder and more fundementally sound than practically any team in the league). I hope Skiles gets a job next season and does what he did in Chicago, rebuild someone elses franchise to the point of respectability. However, I do think the time was probably right for the move and I would like the Bulls to bring in a guy who has a history of developing bigs. Bottom line this team is going to go as far as Tyrus Thomas/Joakim Noah can take them (we know what we have in the other guys and for this team to make it to the next level they will need to get something pretty productive out of the two big men lottery picks). I suspect we will see some changes to the roster by the trade deadline as well, which may include a trade involving at least one of the core players. I'm feeling a Collins to Jackson vibe, but not done nearly as well as Krausse did.- Catch-All Anything Thread
