  1. I'm trying to remember if Colon left on good terms. IIRC he did, at least between him and management. I also recall him winning a couple key games down the stretch. I also remember a really funny song parody by ncorgbl

  3. QUOTE(KevinM @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) It's like arguing with a brick wall. I would say right now that Fields is more of a "sure thing" than Crede. Crede's the one who has "potential", considering he's coming off of back surgery. Fields is a safer bet, IMO. Even Crede's ceiling (2006) pales in comparison to Fields'. And hopefully Fields can develop well enough so we can trade him for more prospects. Which is the goal.
  4. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 10:50 AM) I line mine up so they are all parallel to each other before I eat them. Besides, size doesn't matter. Yep, I have to line them up, but from small to large.

  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) Latest poll shows that Giuliani is trailing by 12 points... IN NEW YORK. Toast. I never thought he had a chance. I'm not certain what faction of the GOP he was going to pull in. He could possibly be an interesting Veep choice, but that even seems far fetched. Perhaps a high profile cabinet position with McCain.

  8. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) some where, right now... FlasoxxJim silently sheds a tear. nicely played
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 08:50 AM) Thats not the problem. I bought the top of the line Basement Watchdog system. The damn thing runs a self test, tests the motor, has all sorts of audible alarms. The unit can run for 10 hours afterwards on battery and has a higher pump capacity than the primary. I even have both pumps on a APC battery backup system and I have the area rigged with an water alarm system for moisture that emails me. Trust me, my worry is foolish but I cant help myself. Something about looking at 7 green lights on the sump pump backup makes me feel better. I had a tri-level in Wildwood that flooded, so trust me, I know the pain. Nothing worse than a flooded basement. I happened to be selling electronic parts when Allen Shulman started that company, good to hear he is still in business. Interesting guy. He was also doing some fishing features for Midwest Outdoors TV and I believe the magazine. He caught an at the time world record northern pike in Canada. Waaay more info than anyone wants to read
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) And it's impossible that we could catch lightning in a bottle with either Floyd or Danks? I'd rather take my chances on a guy with the muscle memory of how to do it at a very high level than a guy hoping to develop it. My memories of Colon was the bigger the game, the better he pitched.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Everytime I go into my finished basement, I open up a closet in the back where my sump pump is to check if the battery backup pump is functioning. After all the work I put in my basement I am afraid of the sump pump failure. After using an Iron having to check like 5 times that I turned it off. Even though is shuts itself off. Checking my cell phone for power and that its on before I got to bed. I never want to have it where my work cant get ahold of me in an emergency(pretty much on call all the time). I've seen companies that have cheap monitoring for your back up pump. I use to sell parts to Glentronics in one of the suburbs. IIRC they had a little module that you run a wire from the battery and a little alarm would go off if the battery was failing or out of charge.
  12. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 11:01 PM) Thank god for teams like the Phillies they kept the veterans and didn't trade them to make room for players like Ryan Howard. They were so smart to keep spending $16 million on that veteran player and not $400k on similar production. I change my mind. f*** those young stud prospects with nothing more to prove in the minors. And thank God there are fans like sircaffey who wants Ryan Howard traded after one good season for someone else with potential! Get a AAA and two AA prospects.
  13. My comments are not specific to Crede. But look around the boards, all to often it's let's trade anyone with any value for a cheaper prospect. To make it easier for y'all just cut and paste.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 01:26 AM) - Money has to be facing the same way, and needs to be in order from singles up*. - Never finish a basketball game/baseball game without hitting a shot or throwing a strike. - Double-locking the door before going to sleep. - All DVDs/Video Games are in alphabetical order**. - Keep the computer on at night, but the monitor off***. - Cell phone only turned off in class. - I haven't taken off my gold necklace with the Serbian Crest/Orthodox cross off since 2003. - Blinds always need to be closed facing up. - Hang my keys in the same spot every time I come inside. - Never have any volume level on 13, ever. - I check my e-mail as soon as I wake up, before every class, and before I go to sleep. *Close, little money has to be facing big money or it's bad luck. ** Book are arranged by subject, then height. *** Laptop to snooze and closed. I always close the screen.

The last word of the title must be the first word in the next title. Example: Sentimental Lady Lady is a Tramp Derivatives are OK. To kick it off Manic Monday
  16. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) Actually, it's called smart business. $100 million doesn't buy much these days. If you have to spend a tenth of your operating budget on incredibly mediocre talent, you better have some sort of influx of cheap talent. 10% of your budget for Joe Crede or 0.4% of your budget for Josh Fields. Not a tough decision. Like I said Cheap! Yippee! Give us the cheapest team with the most potential. There are cheaper alternatives for Buerhle, Konerko, Thome, Jenks, etc. Get rid of them all. And all those alternatives have potential. We could fill a team on potential. Around here no one wants the guy that signs his second contract. So promote the entire AAA roster. I am certain everyone here would just be crushed if they thought the 2005 team didn't make a bunch of money for the owners.
  17. Come on Kap, I know Lincoln was a Republican Women in the United States Senate Female State Governors
  18. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) If/when Hillary is the dem nominee....I'd be mighty tempted not to vote for anyone. It would depend on who the GOP nominee is. Obviously if is McCain, I'm voting for McCain. But I would vote for Hillary against several of the other candidates on the GOP side.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 09:45 PM) The difference is the Democrats are the ones that run around saying that they are the "party of inclusion". And the GOP doesn't even pretend to include. Gotcha It was all those blacks, women, and gay candidates in the GOP that momentarily blinded me. Sorry.
  20. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) I lock the bathroom door every time. Even if I am home alone. Obviously you've seen Fast Times at Ridgemount High.
  21. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) And ya'll Democrats can't STAND Zell Miller. It amazes me how the party of inclusion will knock your ass off if you don't fall right in line with the liberal way of thinking. You are amazed that to be included with Democrates you have to be liberal? Would you also be amazed to learn to be a Republican you have to be conservative? Come on Kap, that shot just isn't fair. Each party has a set of beliefs and if you aren't in line with a majoriuty of them, you aren't really a member of that party.
  22. QUOTE(Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 03:43 PM) It'll be a sad day when our organization would rather toss a truckload of money at a veteran in the last year of his contract who is coming off major back surgery than play a stud prospect with 40HR potential. Actually, nevermind. Any chance we can send Quentin to Triple A and sign Erstad to play the OF in his place? That would be a good move. He plays good D when he's working. Prospects and Potential, The New MLB!
  23. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) What is this "9th Inning" you speak of???? I hear the White Sox have some pitcher named Jenks - why don't they ever use him???
  24. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) It makes me ill. There is no way in hell I will vote for Billary. The Dems thank you for your support of their positions and vision for America.
