    QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 11:53 AM) The evil misquoter making an appearance, I miss him
  2. good stuff and nice spin on the Thome missing.
  3. I think you are correct. It's old versus new. Owed a chance versus not owed anything. I still like McCain's chances, the more people see him, the more they will like.
  4. Again, if the story is true, that she ran off with another man, he is acting almost exactly like most guys would. She ran away from the kids. We do not know how he is acting around the kids or what he is doing, if, and this is a huge "if", she did run off with some guy and left her children behind, (which has happened) he isn't too far off. From what I've seen and read, it seems unlikely, but innocent until proven guilty and all that.
  5. I do not mean to disparage Mr. Clements, but there are thousands of guys with similar resumes, how does this guy get entrusted with our AA hitters? Zero MLB experience. Three seasons as a High School head baseball coach, etc? Not so much defending him, but how do some of these guys have careers like this? Of course he has Walker to help him out . . .
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) Point is, if you are going to write an article about a steroid fueled team in chicago, the #1 focus should be the cubs. Their long time face of the franchise, several players named in the mitchell report, and their pitching messiah are all more important to the team than cansecos short stint here. No, they should write about Bonds. Every article, every time. He's far more important than any Cub or Sox player.
  7. cue music, Steve Dahl "Skylab" I think we still owe Australia from a $500 fine for littering. Who cares about a satellite, we lost an entire space station.
  8. Someone was murdered is seems, so hopefully someone is one step closer to being caught and punished. How would you act if your wife ran off with another guy? Having Dahl host a dating contest would not be a bad thing, except, he sure seems guilty, so in that case, he just gives Bill Curtis a few minutes on American Justice, Bill "Perhaps oddest of all was his appearance on a popular Chicago Radio Show . . ." I Bill Curtis
  9. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) Serves them right for needing air conditioning when it is so cold in the rest of the country. . . Be nice, it's a curse we live with

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 08:43 PM) I'll defer to DBAHO, but I bet ANZAC Day (April 25th) gives it a run for it's money. I unknowingly landed in Sidney on ANZAC Day and I think I was drunk for two days. I got drunk with a girl named Sidney for two days, how ironic

QUOTE(shipps @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) So is DBAHO like shooting roman* candles? *I was wondering what he was doing after getting banned from here . . .** **About three people will catch that reference. Sorry for the narrow-casting*** ***Narrow-casting****, the opposite of broadcasting. **** Kenning, or word compounding. Popular in Anglo-Saxon poetry
  12. I thought Eddie Schwartz was back on the radio . . .

"It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation." Australia Day is celebrated on the 26th of January every year. It is the biggest nationwide public holiday that is celebrated across the country. There are no hard and fast rules on how to celebrate the day but it is great if you feel like participating any way you can. http://www.wikihow.com/Celebrate-Australia-Day
  15. BTW, the get the most out of my gift, I'm shopping in Mexico
  16. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) Glad I booked my vegas hotel last night. I am sure prices for them all will be going up for a bit. Vegas as such capacity, one hotel going down probably won't drive up prices. Oops, wait, there is a football game that is probably pushing occupancy, it could.
  17. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 10:40 AM) he's not a true frontrunner anymore - the media made that certain. You shouldn't let the media choose your candidate.
  18. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 09:14 AM) I have to say, he'd be pretty hypocritical if he chose Clinton. When I hear him speak, he is always trumpeting very similar values as Obama and they were closely tied at the beginning of the primaries. He is trying in more recent days to be more "forceful" about his contrasts with Obama and Clinton because he needs to stand out. While his supporters might flock to Clinton if he dropped out, I really see him endorsing Obama in the end. You could have similar values and be a worse pick. So I could see him endorse Clinton. For example, as some of the GOPerheads have pointed out, the anti-war Dems have more in common with Bin Laden than with some of the GOP candidates. So, and admittedly using an extreme example, endorsing Bin Laden would be closer to values, but not a good pick overall.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 10:11 AM) They should refuse to talk to any reporter associated with the sun times until they fire that assbag Kotex boy. Between he, couch(kotex boys fluffer), carol sleeze, and the rest its not like they are getting a good deal to begin with anyway. Cowley is amusing for them to plant rumors, but they can get another patsy somewhere else. You are kidding right? The club loves Mariotti. He brings Sox fans together to defend the team like no one else. He gets more people talking about the Sox than any other writer. We turn into a bunch of old retired guys who haven't had a bowel movement in days. All cranky and indignant. To think that anyone would not be a loyal Sox fan is heresy.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) Typical Marriotti, no facts, all opinion, lying about converstions with players, ignoring the already established steroid den on the north side. I remember when people had jobs based on merit and ability. yep, every Sox article needs to include stuff on the Cubs or else it just isn't important. Just like all the other writers.
  21. I was thinking about who Canseco could have named as a "bomb shell" and Maggs would be the best target. An All-Star slugger who was not named in any report, actually gives the book something unique. And it would be niave to think there were no juicers on the Sox and that management did not know it. It was too common, too obvious to those that knew what to look for and where to look. And I think Mariotti could have thought up this article idea on his own. Say what you will about Jay, he knows how to get his name on everyone's lips and writing anything negative about the Sox gets all Sox fans in a tizzy. Funny that this will probably have Sox fans defending Maggs, something I thought I would never see.
  22. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 08:39 AM) Politicians pose with people all the time. More research will have to be done, but it is a distinct possibility that it is a fluke. That's what I was thinking. I have a picture of me with Kay Bailey Hutchinson around here somewhere. I am certain she has zero recollection of our conversation. Hell, I have zero recollection of our conversation.
