Al Gore: Nobel Peace Prize Winner
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) I think there's a big difference between posting viral videos about Presidential Campaign issues and growing a beard. There might be something to this, IMO. Yep, the public will talk about his beard and pundits will debate if it makes him more electable I hate the people who vote in this country.

It could also be over one billion population AND a nuclear bomb? You know, just off the top of my head.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 03:35 PM) You know, mexico has cheap labor, land for agriculture AND oil, which is one more thing than China has. How come China is a world power and Mexico is a cesspool of corruption whose biggest source of income is American dollars sent in from the US? At least the dollars going into China are for goods produces, then exported. Imagine China if they had the oil that Mexico has! We would be bowing to our Chinese overlords instead of our Muslim ones. Because Communism works in some cases?

Do I go?
IIRC it was during the early 70s when foreign banks were demanding payments on US debt. Nixon made a number of changes that caused problems. I'm certain Kap or SS could fill in the blanks if they are reading this thread.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) It's like the Irish fighting the Irish. We Jims have to fight each other because we have no other worthy opponents.- For GOP only
QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 09:17 AM) If you build it, they won't come. So true, The legal trade that this area depends on will dry up and we'll have widespread unemployment. Mexican Nationals spend billions of dollars legally all along the border. Criminals have found ways to smuggle in billions and billions of drugs into this country, they will do the same thing with workers. Better is a guest worker program that works for businesses and the labor unions.- OK kids, listen up here and learn
I kid, because I care- For GOP only
There is a mistrust, prejudice, bias, etc. about anyone not like us. As humans we categorize people and probably from some evolutionary survival instinct. Is this person going to help or hurt me? We also have a natural curiosity about other cultures. Sometimes the behaviors that come out of that are good, sometimes not so good. We are also provincial in looking at things through our own sets of beliefs and needs. For example I'm guessing there are not too many No Border Fence bumper stickers up north, but they are everywhere here where the damn thing may be built. (And ironically, built by Mexicans)- Soxtalk Straw Poll (Democrat edition)
I'm with YAS on this one. And it's unfair but I just don't want the baggage of Clinton in the White House. I don't want him as the First Male.- Civil Disobedience
QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 02:50 AM) There is a place and time for civil disobedience. I believe we are quickly approahing that place and time. I'm ready. You are right, and I'd love to help you, but it's still pretty hot outside, and the kids have me running everywhere, and I'm really busy at work, plus it's almost Thanksgiving, and then you know Christmas is right around the corner, why don't we try a little disobedience after the first of the year. . . Plus this is probably all made up by the liberal media or activist judges or a vast right wing conspiracy . . . Sad but most people do not even know how to send a letter to their elected leaders. According to a staffer for my congressman almost all their mail seems to come from the same people or concentration letter campaigns where people clip and ship, no original thought. I believe my Senators have my email address on their spam list- Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 07:06 PM) Netflix question. I may sign up and for anyone who uses the service, it says 1 disc at a time option, if I rent a season of a TV series, does that mean I will just get Disc 1 and won't get disc 2 until I return Disc 1? It usually depends on how it is packaged. If it is packaged as a set, you'll get both. Check the listing.- Rowand Wants Big Money
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Last year, if he had hit FA after putting up these sorts of numbers, he might well have gotten $14/6 or something like that from some team. This year, I'm just not sure...for the simple reason that there's 3 big name CF's on the market and a couple of smaller, "Bargain basement" type guys as well, and htat just might saturate the market for once. We'll see. If the market can ever saturate at a position and drive down the price, it'd be this year at CF, since there just don't seem to be that many teams in need right now. Or a few times budget $$$$ for a free agent, and wind up with their fourth choice.- Ed DeBartolo's failed attempt to buy the Sox
There are many times here that a more restrictive site seems like heaven. It seems that we are midway between all the boards, loose enough to be a community, strict enough to stop people from "running on the field". In other words, just right. And Rex is right, they too care enough to create a place for Sox fans to meet.- Civil Disobedience
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 09:49 PM) I was under the impression that she was on the back of the bus, not the front. you are correct. I confused first row of black seats with front of the bus. Old age.- Steinbrenner giving up control of Yankees
It would be tough to find a more successful owner is sports.- Soxtalk Straw Poll (Democrat edition)
In the primaries I don't worry about electibility, I think of this as a chance to send the party a message.- This made me chuckle.
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 08:52 AM) It'd be funnier if it were on Sunday...- Civil Disobedience
QUOTE(NUKE @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) If the masses truly believe that a law is unjust then they will work within the system to change the law. I don't believe for a minute that people have a right to disobey laws which laws they find distasteful. A society where the rule of law is optional is not a society at all. It is, in truth, the very definition of anarchy. I assume you are speaking strictly about democracies where the masses have a mechanism to change the law. Even with that, I believe Rosa Parks sitting up front is a perfect example of when breaking the law is the right course of action.- Al Gore: Nobel Peace Prize Winner
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 10:25 AM) That's not as crazy as it sounds. Even a blind dog finds an bone once in a while- Soxtalk Straw Poll (Democrat edition)
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) I've been all over the place but as it stands right now, I'd go with Obama on this side of things. Really? I would have thought Richardson for you.- Soxtalk Straw Poll (GOP edition)
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) And on this side, I think Fred Thompson is the character I would vote for at this point in time. I think the Dems should nominate Martin Sheen, but I think he already served 8 years in the White House.- EPA approves BP's new pollution dumping
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 07:38 PM) Indiana really is the armpit of the Midwest. Like all states, they have some nasty areas. But also some really pretty. Overall I have a very positive image of Indiana. - OK kids, listen up here and learn
