Picture yourself on a boat on a river. Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river. Old Mississippi, she's calling my name

As long as they don't smoke, they should be allowed in

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ May 31, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) The lawyers are able to petition for their 'fees' which end up going to the ACLU. That is one of the reasons they target small school districts and such, because they can't afford a lengthy battle, and the insurance companies usually tell them to settle. I'll get you some more info on that later. Yet they have taken on BSA and the Catholic Church, so it isn't just small battles they enter into.
-
I thought the ACLU represented people, why would they receive the settlement?

The ten most important players to the future of Sox
Texsox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just have no energy to care about anyone outside the 40-Man roster and really only can care slightly on 26-40 except for trade meat for mlb ready talent. -
When mlb players start looking and acting like fans and 9-year olds, it is probably a bad idea.
-
Part of this is also a resource and interest issue on what they choose to defend. They are, after all, largely volunteering. But I think looking over their cases, there is something for everyone to dislike.

Usually those list get about half right, this one is pretty damn good.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) And then Jenks has to go a second inning, at least, and historically Jenks doesn't preform very well in that next inning. Shhh, you're using logic

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) I believe that stocks are a long term investment. But I have worked for nearly 10 years with traders and specialists, so my experience is in day trading type settings. It takes a whole different set of thinking for short term versus long term. One is trading, the other is investing. I guess I equate that trading with gambling. I'd go nuts looking at daily fluctuations, I could not imagine minute by minute. You are gutsier than I.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) I think Tex needs to check out this book. If you have any questions my 19 month old could help you out on manatees http://www.awionline.org/pubs/Quarterly/03-52-4/524p19.htm Did I mention we were drinking?

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 31, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) I think it's total bush league and when Uribe did it to Derek Lee, I thought that as well. I thought the same thing with Uribe. Now I'm wondering if there isn't room for a little bush league?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) I would only feel comfortable day trading, because that is what I have seen all of my career. That is interesting and perhaps a generational thing brought on by technology. I was raised to think of stocks as long term investments. Perhaps it would be different if I had life events where I knew I would need to sell. You young kids are so advanced

I wonder which Loaiza deal was a bigger steal.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 31, 2007 -> 10:59 AM) ^^^^^^^ Regardless of what anybody thinks of Ditka or Ozzie, I think most would agree with you here. The thing is, didn't Ditka coach the Bears for like 10 years? I can't see Ozzie lasting a decade here, he's barely a third of the way there. Good point and it did take a 5-11 record to finally bring him down.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 31, 2007 -> 10:55 AM) These "men" need to take some responsibility. That is everything. It isn't fire Walker, it isn't fire Cooper, it isn't fire Ozzie, and it isn't fire KW.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 30, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) Jose Contreras for Esteban Loaiza worked out pretty well. IMHO K-Dubs best moments was buying Loaiza so low and selling him so high. I can't think of another situation where I team was so right twice on the same player.
-
Ozzie and Da Coach seem to be on the same career path. I think we all know it will be Ozzie's mouth that would get him fired before his team's performance. Using the same Walker yardstick, I don't know howa fan could demand Walker's head and not Coops and Ozzies. Ozzie has always seemed erratic, I wonder what the root is?

The long and winding road There has to be a twist I rode my motorcycle in the rain. flirtin with disaster He's going the distance Gonna eat a lot of Peaches And I was standin' on the side of the road Standing in line, marking time, waiting for the welfare dime Then I saw her face The girl with the kaleidoscope eyes A brown eyed girl in hand me downs Blinded me.....with SCIENCE She was the best damn woman I had ever seen Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds She ain't exactly small 42-39-56 BABY GOT BACK! She knows she got everything a woman needs to get a man, yeah. One Bourbon, one Scotch, one beer.I don't wanna touch you too much baby 'cuz making love to you might drive me crazy Cause southern belles are hell at nightI'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride Cowboy take me away Slob on my knob, like corn on the cob Lie back and let me unlock you I've got a brand new pair of roller skate, you've got a brand new key She's a super freak, a super freak, she's super freeeeakaaayyyyyy Why don't you come with me little girl, on a magic carpet ride? You aint seen nothing yet But with a magnifying glance, I just sort of look her over. Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing And I fell in to a burning ring of fire Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno! Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down, yoh! Yeah Im hot blooded, check it and see Feel the fever burning inside of me Lord amighty! I feel my temperature risin' I'm so hot for you and you're so cold Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart Let's get together Before we get much older. Because I'm turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so Walking on thin ice, I'm paying the price For throwing the dice in the air. You're as cold as ice. You're willing to sacrifice our love I see a little silhouetto of a man, Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango- Turned cartwheels cross the floor Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind I'm so dizzy, my head is spinning. Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel spin. And it stoned me to my soul, stoned me just like Jellyroll Everybody must get stoned That Ain't no way to have fun, son Some people claim there's a woman to blame Young girl, get out of my mind My love for you is way out of line And they called it puppy love Tonight's the night for you to hit it doggie style If you don't expect too much from me, you might not be let down Where it all ends I can't fathom, my friends. If I knew, I might toss out my anchor. I just spent six months in a leaky boat, lucky just to keep afloat. Call for the Captain ashore Let me go home, let me go home The captains tell they pay you well. But How ya gonna make some time when all you got is one thin dime? Time is on my side, yes it is. Time everlasting, time to play B-Sides. When they know they have you, they really have you. Haven't you noticed the days somehow keep getting longer. It won't be long 'til Summer comes, now that the boys are here again. And if you let me cool you one time, you'll be my regular stop. Oh the dashboard melted but we still have the radio. Hey mister DJ, I just wanna hear some rhythm & blues right now On the radio, on the radio, on, on the radio. Dancing in the moonlight, everybody's feelin' warm and right. Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance There's a girl right next to you, and she's just waiting for something to do. Wild thing...you make my heart sing...You make everything groovy. Sing, sing a song, make it simple to last the whole night long I'm singing this note 'cause it fits in well with the way I'm feeling. Boy, you sure took me for one big ride and even now I sit and I wonder why. Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids But Mama, that's where the fun is. And she'll have fun fun fun til her daddy takes the t-bird away. Well, I ain't been home to see my baby, in ninety nine and one half days. Click bang! What a hang! Your Daddy just shot poor me. Bang bang, he shot me down. Bang bang, I hit the ground. I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense

This kind of prompted a survey of sorts, what is the shortest horizon y'all are comfortable with when buying a stock? I guess I am contrasting day trading versus retirement planning. There is no way I would want to make a move where I already knew I needed to sell in a day. For that matter, I wouldn't want to buy with less than a year or so. I know I am not asking this clearly. Perhaps this way, what is the shortest amount of time you would knowingly buy a stock for?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 31, 2007 -> 06:04 AM) Hokey smokes. I was unaware of any of that as well. Talk about a biased media. Chicago received all the press. It must have been the anti-Wiscoonsin bias.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 31, 2007 -> 07:23 AM) So what if it was a really ugly man drowning? Did you let him? he slipped out of sight too fast, or actually we went by quickly and tacked around back but couldn't relocate. There is a chance it was a dolphin, but we see so many of those and are usually pretty good at IDing them.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:13 AM) I am just asking, because I believe it would still have been the right move to not charge him with anything. I was just curious how far people believe their freedom of speech goes. It is an excellent question and highlights another situation where our freedoms put us at risk.
