  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) I will say I'm cool with snow so long as I don't have to deal with 110 degree heat with humidity (which I occasionally actually do have to deal with). If it's cold, you can keep on adding layers of clothes. If it's hot, you get stuck sweating your ass off in underwear. Both ends of the scale are a b****. The 100+ days of 100+ degrees down here can wear on you. I spend most of those months down at the Island so it isn't too bad. And like Chicago winters you go from a climate controlled home to a climate controlled car to a climate controlled office.

    QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 07:26 AM) The press obviously got the statement wrong so I fixed it.

    QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 06:26 PM) Ted Haggard issued a statement today proclaiming that he was now "completely heterosexual" So am I. Big deal. What a moron.
  4. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) This might have come out incorrectly.... Ted Haggard promoted Colorado's marriage amendment last year, where he was a pastor of a megachurch. But if people who support gay marriage bans want to use this as a reason to ban gay marriage, they ought to put their money where there mouth is. I believe they need to put something else where their mouth is. That's the whole point I can't believe this is America in 2007. Equal rights for equal people seems simple enough for me. All men are created equal.
  5. Happy Birthday Y'All
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) Dick in a box that is a great skit
  7. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 09:25 AM) You whiners aren't the only ones dealing with the harsh winter weather. Hell, I almost couldn't wear shorts outside this weekend it was so nipply. The real test for me is if the Tevas have to be replaced with real shoes. No Shirt No Shoes No Problema
  8. Take a look at what other careers can earn you over $9 mil per.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 12:14 PM) I freaking loved those books as a kid. I owned every one of them. Reda each story a dozen times or more.
  10. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 12:12 PM) why is it a bad idea to try to break the best known possible link between climate change and human interaction? Because it may benefit liberals and that is always a bad thing. So be a good conservative and pollute! Drive extra miles today. Use more oil! We are so in trouble when we even divide up something as important as our environment as benefiting liberals or conservatives. Like breathing cleaner air is a bad thing.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) Maybe the dino's drove around in big SUVs, worked at big factories, and were too tied to Oil. Maybe we don't want to be the dinos . . .
  12. Liberal agenda? What are we doing to try and protect our environment that is wrong and would be part of a liberal agenda to take over the country? For example, I just don't see where driving less, and using less oil, is so bad.
  13. I am so conflicted with this area. I see a flag being raised or lowered and I stop and show the proper respect. Most others don't even notice. I see a worn flag and wish the people would replace it, yet I am grateful it is even being displayed. Like Nuke, my workday, when I am in the office or at one of our satellite facilities, begins with the raising of the flag and ends with retiring the colors. That doesn't make me more patriotic, nor does it make me a better American. But I do believe strongly in that respect. I treasure living in a country that allows for the freedom to choose. To not stop, to not pay attention, to not care, that doesn't bother me. Blatant, active, willful disrespect does. I will support your right to sit quietly, but respect my right to salute and recite the pledge. And by the way, also respect my right to offer a prayer to my God as I will respect your right to offer a prayer to your God.
  14. The quality of the experience on your computer is directly tied to your system. Your connection, memory,. display, etc all come into play.

  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 2, 2007 -> 06:24 PM) Parque signs a minor league deal with the Mariners and gets an invite to Spring Training. Hell, we all get an invite to Spring training. Wait, they want him to play?
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 08:06 AM) Welcome to Soxtalk Welcome to Soxtalk maybe . . . be good.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 11:50 AM) If he is that good, he won't get to us anyway. That's what I was thinking.

  21. QUOTE(NUKE @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 12:40 AM) Don't have an address yet. Will post something when I get that info. Thank you. You can PM me if you don't want to post it publicly.
  22. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 11:18 PM) Just curious, Tex. What would your opinion be on forced vaccinations in a public health situation where an easily communicable disease broke out? As I stated in an earlier post, public health concerns are different than private health concerns. Polio, for example, can be transmitted casually. Same for measles, mumps, TB, etc. Look at flu shots. Clearly they can help a lot of people, but we allow each person to make that decision. For most young females it is the correct decision and like all preventative medicine, should be made available to anyone and everyone who chooses to take it. Both documented and undocumented. And laws are only valid if society is willing, able, and equipped to enforce the law. Are we going to lock up parents who refuse? Hold down the child and force the needle in? What if the parents want to wait until more kids have been vaccinated instead of being part of the first wave? If we are so willing to legislate what goes into the body to prevent this, why not legislate what doesn't go into the body to prevent this? How many would be lined up to defend the Governor if he spoke of the tragic nature of this cancer and issued a decree that made all pre and extra-marital sex illegal? After all think of the pain and deaths that could be saved.
  23. My family, friends, and Scouts are praying for you and all involved in wars worldwide. Nuke, what is your mailing list and can kids send letters?
