  1. Once convicted, they all deserve a very long stay at tax payer expense. for the children and families. I personally know the Boy Scout leader. He lived and worked in the next town over. He was also a Middle School teacher and coach. Lots of details there really turned my stomache.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) I am having a hard time believing this particular Wikipedia entry. Chernobyl killed a lot of people, and further, it maimed many more. How is it that the article can say many people weren't effected 5 years later? And furthermore, wouldn't the effective damage of a dirty bomb depend on how much and what type of radioactive material was used to blanket the explosive device? I recall reading years back that the Soviets had toyed with putting cobalt "jackets" on nukes. The first test they performed resulted in an area of Novaya Zemlya that is now devoid of virtually all life, and will be for some time. That was a nuke of course, but still, I am skeptical. I am no expert at all, mind you. I just have serious doubts about this particular entry. Maybe someone who knows a little more can clarify for me. Remember its a wiki, if we all jump on and edit it to say that dirty bombs in NFL stadiums are 100 times more powerful than regular dirty bombs, it's true!
  3. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) The biggest, and most important difference here is that the solders are IN JAIL, and will be TRIED FOR THEIR CRIMES. While are you hell-bent on equating terrorists with anything resembling normal society? Our solders do this despicable act, the rest of us are horrified and embarrassed. Muslims do this same crap, they either cheer or just turn the other cheek and ignore that it even happened. Well said, and it's what we have to hang our hats on.

    Drug Ads

In oking ads, the FDA restricted what companies could spend on Doctors. It may have balanced itself out.

Here With a new venture that will put Major League Baseball team logos on urns and caskets, the league and a company that makes funeral products will find out just how many fans want to be decked out in their team colors and logos for eternity. Starting next season, fans of the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers will be able to have their ashes put in an urn or be lowered six feet under in a casket emblazoned with their team colors and insignia.
  10. Everytime I see the thread title I think about the sad reality of war, that Troop levels get reduced every time some soldier has his or her life ended prematurely.
  11. A couple thoughts, #1. This is a very small minority of elected officials #2. In the context of #1, are these guys sick before taking office, or does the office and power somehow trigger this?

    Fear of Flying

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) He mentioned it in the music thread. Of course that still doesn't answer the question
  13. I really thought the reason was going to be sexual harrassment, not the fear of lawsuits. \

Now, I have a bigger question, why the hell would you want to go to Iceland? South America I can understand, but you are going to Iceland? And I know it's nicer than Greenland.
  17. Nobody attacks a veteran, and gets away with it, quite like the GOP. Name a GOP veteran that is getting attacked and should be defended? And even if they are only protecting DEM veterans, aren't they worth being protected? BTW, the people that smeared McCain worse than anyone was Bush, Rove, and Co. in 2000 during the South Carolina primary.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 08:13 AM) Meh, half of you morons wouldn't vote for me anyways But being a Chicago-dominated board, the other half would vote two or three times, so it would balance out.

Visualization, bio feedback, and logic. Start by tracking your flight each day and see how it arrives on time, early, late, etc. Then begin to think about the powerful takeoff, perhaps some banking left or right, maybe an in-flight jostle or two. As you feel your pulse quicken or getting anxious, calm yourself down. Basically take this flight as often as possible before leaving the ground. I would also recommend bringing along some books, music, or movies that will distract you. Cut off as many environmental receptors as possible.
  20. Ding ding ding. Thanks for helping me to phrase this better. I agree with that. But what we have in many of these situations is politicians and their fans actively trying to find the wrong way. That's what I object to. How can we spin this into sounding bad for the politician, even when we know what he really meant.
  21. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 07:47 AM) You are a sick bastard. Sick, but funny. Hey, we need a soxtalk candidate for Congress. I'll bet Rex can give you some tips in this relationship . . .
  22. Just want to wish y'all a good morning and welcome to Wednesday.
  23. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 07:09 AM) Quit beating around the Bush, Tex. *I'm* not making a bigger deal of it like *you* keep on insinuating, but I certainly think it's worth talking about if he's going to choose to say something that's so stupid. My whole point with the thread is the insensitivity and poisonous political climate has led to some absolutely obnoxious statements out there, and I think it's shameful that we as Americans accept this as "jokes". Kap, you aren't the only one. By people I mean many more than you. If it was just you, we'd just ignore your rumour mongering ways. Both teams play this game. Take a nothing statement and try to ride it for all its worth. There are too many minutes that need to be filled on radio and tv, too many column inches in newspapers, and too many bytes on web sites. I agree with everything you are stating except calling the statement obnoxious, it is only obnoxious if you think he was joking about *killing* the President ®. If you believe, like I do, he was talking about replacing the President ®, it isn't nearly as obnoxious. Not very funny either. Killing two birds with one stone = completing two projects with one action. Therefore killing = completing *not * killing = eliminating life.
