Welcome to my campaign for world domination
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 08:08 AM) You know what, I would be remiss if I didn't give Soxtalk some credit for all of this. One of the things the political discussions have taught me over the years here is that I have to be detailed, accurate, well-read, and well-researched. Its also really reinforced the ability to interpret, synthisize, and analyze information and put into theory that fits the arguements at hand. Its weird to think that argueing with a bunch of strangers for the most part could be the potential jump start to a political career, but I know it sure has done some good when I look back on it, even with the stinking treehuggers Thanks again guys, and keep bringing it. We only get stronger and smarter through the quality exchanges. Where do I send the invoice?

music
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) unfortunately I can't get my 40 minutes back that i wasted on Interpol's first album... So pardon my extreme generalizations about s***ty music. "it's automatic when I Talk with old friends The conversation turns to Girls we knew when their Hair was soft and long and the Beach was the place to go Suntanned bodies and Waves of sunshine the California girls and a Beautiful coastline Warmed up weather Let's get together and Do it again" But that's my point, a generation ago, you wouldn't have had that opportunity. Would you like to go back to the days that you could only hear what your local radio station was playing, or what your local store may carry? You don't like almost anything played on the radio by "corporate bands", this is a far better time for you than any other time in history.

Worst Team To Ever Win the World Series
They might be the worst team to ever win the WS, but every other team is lined up behind them this season. If they are the worse talent wise, they found a way to make that little talent work. They won, so how was it such a "crappy" team was able to win? Managing? Team work? Lucky breaks? If they are the worse talent wise, that makes them all the more amazing. To finish ahead of better teams and make the playoffs, to win three rounds of playoffs, with worse talent, as underdogs, pulling off bigger and bigger upsets, is possible the greatest World Series feat.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) Only Democrats can write about sex and make it interesting. GOP sex these days is apparently very boring and involves only one position, because as far as I can tell anymore the GOP only knows how to ƒuck up. Of course it's only one position, they never flip flop

music
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 07:12 AM) 95% of music these days is unlistenable. It's a terrible time to be a music fan. So wrong again my friend. It is the greatest time and if you sit a spell, I'll tell you why. Unless of course your musical taste are in line with 98% of the population, then it's as good a time as any. And if your taste isn't in line with 98% of the population, it is the finest time ever on this planet to be a fan. With the internet, you can experience bands of all sizes, those with contracts and those without. Bands that want a big audience but not finding it, and bands that are fine with just making music for their mom's and girlfriends. That has never been the case in the history of mankind. If I'm in the mood for some Icelandic atmosphere, I am a couple mouse clicks away, Some 8-bit garage music by some 14-year old with an idea, a couple mouse clicks away. Terrible time? Nope, the only thing terrible is how much is out there and so little time to explore.

What will Tex be doing Tuesday??
There is a certain interest I have in hearing the lyrics and discovering the changes from hope I die before I get old youthful exuberance to today. I can't wait and will pluck down the $ for the CD. I've seen The Who two times in concert and would probably pluck down the cash if I happened to be living were they were touring. They haven't sunk to county fair and bar venues like several other I've attended.

Cora becomes bench coach
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 06:55 PM) Completely agree. That said I think people have been far more negative when it comes to Cora than he really deserves. Coaches and Presidents receive too much blame and credit.

Detroit Tigers World Series Thread
I believe we can agree that the team that is playing the best in October will probably win the WS. That may or not be the team that played the best in May, June, July, Aug, and September. This isn't an on any given Sunday situation. I think of all the sports, baseball has the best playoff situation. If St. Louis wins this series, it wasn't by luck. They were playing the best when it counted.

Detroit Tigers World Series Thread
I was predicting that the Tigers would win one in Missouri (Misery) I thought it would be game 4 and even the series 2-2 then return to Michigan down 3-2. Now, we'll see what they are made of.

For GOP only
The GOP knows how easy it will be to defeat Hillary and are trying their best to get her the nomination, harder than the DEMs. And since I avoid posting here so I don't inflame the conservatives, I will leave you wth this > 2008 Democrat Convention > 7:00 P.M.--Opening flag burning. > > > 7:15 P.M.--Pledge of allegiance to U.N. > > > 7:30 P.M.--Ted Kennedy proposes a toast > > > 7:30 till 8:00 P.M.--Nonreligious prayer and worship--Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton. > > > 8:00 P.M.--Ted Kennedy proposes a toast. > > > 8:05 P.M.--Ceremonial tree hugging. > > > 8:15- 8:30 P.M.--Gay Wedding-- Barney Frank Presiding. > > > 8:30 P.M.--Ted Kennedy proposes a toast. > > > 8:35 P.M.--Free Saddam Rally led by Cindy Sheehan and Susan Sarandon. > > > 9:00 P.M.--Keynote speech. Welcome to my campaign for world domination
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) Well evidently I got another BIG "endorsement" There is a local guy who does a TV show that many of the older people in this town follow religiously. Not only did he say that people should vote for me, he mentioned me first of all the canditates, and said that if we wanted real change, that I was the one they had to make sure to vote for. Tonight went really well also, I got a lot of questions that I had a lot of facts, figures, and research into, and really was able to tie it in well to my ideas, theories, and knowledge of MC. I want it to be election day NOW! It is so cool following this. I'm praying the voters there know a great candidate when they see one.

Limbaugh needs some duct tape.
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) I just wish he wouldn't have done the ads and just stuck to what he does best... and that is speaking out on behalf of finding a cure for his disease. By doing the ads, he threw himself into a spectacle that should have never been. The thing is, I'm pretty sure that it was planned by the Dems to use MJF, for the very reasons it's doing right now... attention. And that's the part I disagree with. Isn't attention what every cause needs? I think Steff said it best

New airline to Chicago
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) 36 bucks each way on certain days from Ohare to Long Beach. Too bad the Sox weren't playing cause I'd freaking be all over that. Do you get to ride in an actual seat, or in the cargo hold, or on a wing?

Cora becomes bench coach
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Freaking awesome. Anything that makes Razor a part of the coaching staff is a fantastic move. I wonder if they are going to create a position for Alomar to coach. Of course our minor league system is hurt since Razor is such a tremendous minor league manager. I don't think Sandy would take a minor league coaching job. Than again Sandy will probably play another season. The last player coach I can remember was Pete Rose. Didn't Frank Robinson also player/coach for a season. You know, just wondering. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Freaking awesome. "Death of a President"
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) This film is little more than a way for extreme leftists to vent their frustration at the fact that Bush is president. Sadly, there is a group of people out there who's hatred for the man is so strong that they actually would enjoy watching a film like this. Kind of like the tail wagging the dog from Clinton's term. So when you watch a film that depicts someone dying you have to hate the person? I wouldn't go so far as to say you have to hate the president to enjoy the film. The only thing that makes this different than say an episode of 24 or West Wing is they used an actual President instead of making one up. It's a big difference in my book, but I could see someone who enjoys a thriller and can get past that it's our current Commander in Chief.
