November 7 Election Day Thread
Jas, if it makes you feel any better, think of it like term limits. Good candidates lost in 2004 because the GOP begged for a chance to have it all and do it their way. So they had everything that could be gained by elections, then continued a campaign to discredit the Judicial Branch and the Fourth Estate. With every toy to play with, the results were not so hot. So now the voters have added the other party back into the mix. Perhaps, we can harness the best of both sides of the aisle and move ahead for the better.

Rumsfeld Resigns
One man, even in Rummy's position, will not make that big of a difference at this point. I wonder who the media will appoint to replace him.

First To Announce After the MidTerms
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 12:06 PM) Barak Obama will be one of the last, if not the last, to announce his canditacy if he indeed does go. He wants to make sure that there is a near groundswell BEGGING him to run, vs him begging other people to pay attention to him. Spot on. I'll go one step further, he's going to have to sit this one out and resist any attempts at making him a Veep candidate if he wants a clean shot at the White House.

Welcome to my campaign for world domination
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 10:05 AM) That's what I am really hoping for. I know in the meantime I am going to keep an eye out for the future, and keep an ear on what is being done in the community to change things. If things don't improve, there is no doubt I will run again in a couple of years. Like I said I am also thinking about maybe shooting even bigger next time, the one hang up is that Michigan City has been blue since the 70's, and yet things have gotten progressively worse. The 99 election almost got a red mayor, but they came up just short. I think I could build a solid platform there, I just don't know if I want to give up that much family time to do it. There are many more opportunities to make a huge difference in a community as a volunteer than as an elected official.

For GOP only
QUOTE(mreye @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) I wouldn't expect anything less from him. It's really cool to see the calm, peaceful transition of power in our country. It's a testament to the vision of the founders.

November 7 Election Day Thread
Funny, two years ago, the GOP took a razor thin victory by Bush, painted some pretty maps, and called it a landslide and mandate for change. He isn't the only voice with this statement. Politics moves on. We all see things through our own individual point of view.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) NEASC would be the regional accreditation agencies for MA. You should be able to look up Hempshire. . . , er, I mean Hampshire College on that page and see if they are regionally accredited. The general rule of thumb is to defer to the regional agencies and to not be content just with a national accreditation. Yep, right there between Greenfield Community College and some off the wall place, Harvard. From their website The Spiritual Life Center at Hampshire College provides the space and support for spiritual exploration, development, and appreciation. We seek to encourage healthy community life, interaction, and reconciliation across boundaries of ideas, possibilities, and faiths. We offer a place where students can flourish and experience the connections between mind, body, and spirit, a place where we can become fully ourselves even as we lift up and celebrate our diverse community. CLASS PROJECT GONE WRONG An elementary s chool cla s s s tarted a cla s s project to ma k e planter s to ta k e home to their parent s . [/size] They wanted to have a plant in it that wa s ea s y to ta k e care of, s o they decided to u s e cactu s plant s . The s tudent s were given green-ware pottery planter s in the s hape of clown s which they painted with glaze. The clown planter s were profe s s ionally fired at a class outing so they could see the process. It wa s great fun! They planted cactu s s eed s in the fini s hed planter s and they grew nicely, but unfortunately, the children were not allowed to take them home. The cactus plants were removed and small ivy replaced them and the children were then allowed to take them home instead. The teacher said cactus seemed like a good idea at the time!- Hampshire College
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) Just wondering, Tex, is that you next to Bush? Successful politicians would not be photographed anywhere near me. I just pray that Bush realizes he stood next to a meth using homosexual and lightning didn't strike, he didn't get any gay cooties, it didn't "rub off", or any of the other dire warnings dunderheads think.- Hampshire College

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) Nice poll Unfortunately I regret to announce that due to the discriminatory constitution of the United States of America, I cannot run for President in 2008 because of the age-ist laws prohibiting anyone under 35 from being the leader our fine nation. But look out in 2012 OH yeah, I did want to throw out there that the first to announce will be a relative nobody. The big names want the spotlight to themselves and also want a little begging to go on before they announce. I am thinking in McCain's case, he could block some candidates from running if they know he's in the race. Often times a candidate has one shot and I think his decision will trigger a couple others. Bottom line, McCain announces to block.- Welcome to my campaign for world domination

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 08:46 AM) Our area is very Republican, and they turned away a lot of voters in line two years ago. You had to be in the building by 7 or you were turned away. It happens both ways... That's the Texas law. If you aren't in line by 7pm, no voting, no exceptions.- First To Announce After the MidTerms
