QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) Those both seem pretty mild and – for better or worse – the base pandering that is pretty much expected of them. To tell the truth, I think Bush's quip about finding the children and then taxing them is pretty damn funny. er. . . I mean He should give a raise to the speech writer that came up with that, it did make me smile. And as always, I know I'll be kicked out of the Dem party here, but on a personal level, I've always liked Dubya.

Has anyone heard of Hampshire College? My son is intrigued, my savings threatened, my intellectual curiosity raised.

I disagree with both sides and it sickens me that two men who have lived in the White House could make such egregious statements without blushing.

November 6, 2006 The Top 5 Signs Your Political Campaign Is in Big Trouble 5> A "60 Minutes" film crew is at your door with your wife, two mistresses, a call girl from Vegas, Jeff Gannon and Enrique, the pool boy. 4> FedEx just handed you an envelope from Karl Rove marked, "Do not bend. Contains photographic material." 3> A video surfaces proving that not only did you inhale, you did so from a penis-shaped bong at a Log Cabin Republicans meeting. 2> In your nervous state, you mistook your son's Ritalin for your Tourette's Syndrome meds. and Topfive.com's Number 1 Sign Your Political Campaign Is in Big Trouble... 1> You're an honest politician, a decorated war veteran, you've done a great job in government and you always do what's best for your country -- and worst of all, you have no money. Dear James, We've been working hard to get to this moment. And, here we are -- we can see the finish line. But, if we want to produce the Democratic victories our nation so urgently needs, you have one critical task left, and that is to get to the polls and vote. It has been decades since there have been so many close, down-to-the-wire races for the Senate, for the House, and for critical state and local offices. Many of those races are close today because of what you and other members of the johnkerry.com community have done up to this point. And now, many of those races will be finally decided by what you do in the time between now and the closing of the polls. Please call and email your friends, family and colleagues and ask them to vote on Tuesday. Don't let a single person you know let Tuesday pass without voting. And there's still time to contact Democratic campaigns in your area to volunteer your time and be part of grassroots efforts to get out the vote. This is our chance to take the power to lead America out of the Bush Republicans' hands. Winning means raising the minimum wage. Winning means moving towards health care for all, starting with every child in America. Winning means forcing an end to the disastrous war in Iraq, and getting our heroes home. Winning means firing the incompetents, stopping the corruption, and making America stop being the world's leading denier of global climate change. Let's get out and do it. You've been amazing all along. You've stood up. Stand up again. Your country is counting on you. It's on to victory from here. John Kerry

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) At least to my eyes...not entering a place of worship and not entering one of those mega-churches can be 2 different things. Same here. But some people will use this as a blanket condemnation of all organized religion, hell even disorganized religion.
-
I made up my mind weeks ago, why wait?
-
Coming Soon! Haggard Rises Again - The Forgiven Tour! The saddest part of this, is he will become a poster boy for mega-Churches and people will become jaded, and many will not enter a place of worship or will leave because of one man's hypocrisy. Meanwhile, thousands of good, decent, dedicated men and women of God are toiling in every community in the world. Their silent witness will go unnoticed.

Dear Friend, There's one thing everyone who wants Democrats to win tomorrow needs to remember: be prepared for anything. We offer a fresh start and a new direction, but each and every Democrat must get to the polls to make our vision a reality. Reports of voter suppression and potentially illegal tactics have already begun surfacing in districts where Republicans seem to be heading for defeat. That's why it's so important that you vote. From repeatedly harassing phone calls to disgusting flyers sent to Hispanic voters, they're trying everything they can to keep Democrats from voting. No matter what the other side does to try to keep Democrats at home, we have to continue our person-to-person outreach for this final stretch. Our democracy can withstand these tactics if every one of us lives up to our responsibility to engage our neighbors in this movement to take America in a new direction. We've put together the resources you need to spread the Democratic message and reach as many people as possible. Here are just a few of those resources: Find Your Polling Place In addition to allowing people to report election irregularities, the 1-888-DEM-VOTE number also provides your polling place. You can call, or find your state's polling information here: http://www.democrats.org/pollingplace Last-Minute Volunteers The best way to volunteer at the last minute is to call your local Democratic Party: http://www.democrats.org/volunteer/call Print Your Own Flyers The Democratic Agenda: http://www.democrats.org/agenda/vision Voter Protection Info: http://www.democrats.org/voterprotection/materials One look at those flyers will remind you what we're fighting for in this election. What do the Republicans offer us? Spiraling costs in both human and monetary terms with no accountability and no plan in sight for Iraq, more people working full-time just to live in poverty because the minimum wage hasn't changed in a decade, and more people suffering in silence because, just like 45 million others, they don't have health insurance. The vast majority of Americans have had enough. That's why the Republicans have resorted to doing anything they can to distract or deceive voters. But we Democrats have our own plans, which couldn't be clearer: Honest Leadership & Open Government We will end the Republican culture of corruption and restore a government as good as the people it serves. Real Security & A New Direction in Iraq We will protect Americans at home and lead the world by telling the truth to our troops, our citizens and our allies, and we will heed the advice of our commanders on the ground and force a change in the failed Republican strategy in Iraq. Energy Independence & Lower Gas Prices We will create a cleaner, greener and stronger America by reducing our dependence on foreign oil, eliminating billions in subsidies for oil and gas companies and developing energy alternatives. More Jobs, Better Pay & College Access for Everyone We will create jobs that stay in America, raise the minimum wage, and open the doors to college for every American. Healthcare that Works for Everyone & Life-Saving Cures We will join 36 other industrialized nations in making sure everyone has access to affordable health care, and we will make decisions to invest in stem cell and other medical research based on science, not politics. Retirement Security We will ensure that a retirement with dignity is the right and expectation of every single American, starting with protecting workers' pensions expanding saving incentives and preventing the privatization of social security. I can't stress enough how important these final hours are -- and because of the Republican voter suppression tactics, every one of us will need to do even more. If you or someone you know has any trouble voting or is harassed in any way, please take down as many details as possible and report it. You can report any voter suppression or election irregularities by calling 1-888-DEM-VOTE. You can also report problems online here: http://www.democrats.org/voterprotection/report You'll hear a lot of predictions over the next day or so, but ignore both the good ones and the bad ones. We're got to work, work and work some more until this election is over. There is no other option -- we've all done too much for too long to let this slip away. The only poll that matters will be on Election Day and it will signal a new direction for America. Thank you. Governor Howard Dean, M.D.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 06:40 AM) Umm, a guy losing twenty pounds in a week is usually pretty easy to figure out that he can't keep anything down him. If he lost twenty pounds over a winter, that would be different. Also you kinda have the timeline backwards because the Sox soured on Brian THEN he got sick and lost twenty pounds... but nice try anyway Jay just pointing out how theories change based on what color uniform they are wearing. He needs to fire his agent and hire Boras, he'd have some team offering him $35/4 money

The Homestretch! Friends and neighbors, we're down to the last hours and minutes of the campaign. Everything we have worked so hard for for nearly 2 years comes down to this: if the voters turn out in force, Kinky Friedman will be our next governor! Get out and VOTE! This isn't going to be easy, but we can do it! We're not going to waltz to victory; we need to claw and scratch and fight for every single vote. If you have already voted, thank you! You've taken the most important step in electing Kinky, but there's still more you can do. Encourage everyone you know to get out and vote for Kinky on Tuesday. Offer to take someone to the polls who may not be able to get there on their own. Come by Austin HQ at 701 E. Ben White Blvd. and make some calls Monday or Tuesday between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM. If you can't make it to HQ, call us at (512) 326-5465, and we'll set you up with some phone numbers to call on your own! You'll need access to a fax machine if you want to call remotely! If you have not yet voted, election day is this Tuesday, November 7th. If you are a registered Texas voter, there is no excuse for not getting to the polls on time. Take a friend or two with you to the polls. Vote early and get to work late. Take a long lunch. Leave work early if you have to. We can only win if Texas sees a massive turnout, so get out there early and vote Kinky! We've been saying all along that Kinky's voters are the 71% of Texans who didn't bother to vote in 2002. If we can bring a million new voters to the polls on Tuesday, we'll be making history as we install the first independent governor in nearly 150 years. Get ready for a Kinky administration! "The calvary ain't riding in to save us, folks. It's up to us to save Texas." -- Kinky Friedman You know the politicians are counting on apathy. You know they're in it for their own gain. The system is closed and both parties want to keep it that way. Disaster awaits us if we stay on their course. So reach down deep. It's not going to be easy, but nothing good ever is. Work the vote, get out the word. We have until the polls close Tuesday night. Texas needs you. The Kinky Friedman campaign -Go Kinky!

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) I believe that it was reported because it was news. Its relevance to GWB had no bearing on the reporting of it. If he was aquitted, do you think they would be silent? The media only reports stories that fit with their devious bias, they hold secret meetings to decide which stories to run with and how to report it to make Republicans look bad. Republican's on the other hand are perfect, so the media has to make stuff up. I am so tired of any bad news for Republicans being portrayed as media bias. It is the most amazing political strategy of all time. Good news is the media finally getting it right and bad news is media bias.

There are short comings and failing, then there is something like this. He doesn't sell my brand of Christianity.

There is one more possible explaination, if a player on another team suddenly lost 20 pounds and his team soured on him, what would we be saying?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) I just love the fact that they captured, convicted, and sentenced the guy and all of the news shows were talking about this being purposefully arranged as a Republician plot to fall right before the election... Yup, that's the conservative media at work all right. They've reported everywhere the verdict, making the President look good. The only reason they would report that is because they have a conservative bias.

I believe that as a matter of public policy, the government should only recognize a legal entity that is available to any two individuals of legal age. If, in addition to this legal contract, a couple wishes to have a ceremony performed and wish to call this union a marriage, or whatever, I am happy for them. As the next Governor of Texas, the Jewish Cowboy, and humorist, Kinky Friedman says, "may the God of your choice, bless you". BTW, Rex, between the political campaigns, booking cruises, and posting here, when the hell would you have time to get married?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) They should be worrying about their strike zone judgement and mastering offspeed pitches instead of about their old AAA coach and current 3B coach's part time job. He wasn't fired, he was promoted. I assume now that they do not want to be fired from AAA either.

QUOTE(GaelicSoxFan @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 01:39 AM) Sorry, wish I could help. I have a Mac. I have my computer set up so the wallpaper and screensaver are the same folder, so I just find a pic I like and drop it into the file. For the wallpaper feature, you can check a box and have it rotate through the pictures. Actually I need to be able to distribute the screensaver as a .exe, packaged with the pictures.
