I trust the Red Cross to spend that 4 mil better than the US Government. I think society loses when we take money from a good charity and give it to the government. I also don't like the government having a profit motive in collecting these fines.
RexKickAss; how did you do on your summer reading list?
I'm filling in on books I should have read, but somehow missed. Currently I am reading Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451

I thought it was legal to gamble if you were 18? What's the big deal here?
Not in most states, and all ban internet gambling.
Dye, Thome, Garland, Buehrle, AJ,. Gooch, Crede, Jenks, Ozzie, Kong, right down the lone these guys are nice. I imagine it's great in the clubhouse. No assholes.

You're just twisting the stats to back up your argument. You know as well as I that person's yearly stats paint a complete picture of their development and where they are.
In the case of a rookie, I believe it is better to look at the trends. Is he learning to be a major league player? I think he is. Half a season, three months, isn't insignificant. If Kalapse was grabbing three weeks and only against lefties with bad hair, then I'd be inclined to believe the stats were painting a misleading picture.
Can we realize something here. We are talking about some guys that only a year or two ago were treated like gods and needed to be wrapped up in long term contracts. They were the can't miss HoFers. Now we have another group of guys that are can't miss HoFers and people are rushing into the lineup. And guess what, they'll be dog meat at some point also.
I still put way more blame on the driver. He was operating an unsafe vehicle. I see way too many of these and it shouldn't matter how you got your license.
I'm with Balta, flip a coin. It isn't that I prefer one or the other, either way it's a prayer. Whomever they can get more for in return works for me. For some reason, perhaps it's Championship hangover feelings, I like Freddy before Vaz. But it's like do I perfer a headache or a toothache?
In a strange way, it's too bad there wasn't an extended period of time that Brandon could have been inserted into the starting rotation and in effect pushed someone out.

And with Boras, the Sox don't even have to actually talk to him. A Boras hypnotic stare is usually enough for any GM to start tossing tens of millions. That's why some Sox fans don't want Kenny talking to Boras.

Now if I could convince him to start working on said baby
Ahhhh, if it's work, you may be doing something wrong . . .

And then, let's trade Pablo Ozuna to St Louis for Albert Pujols.
After that, let's trade Buehrle for Johan Santana and Matt Garza.
Then, we trade Tadahito Iguchi for Chase Utley and Ryan Howard. Howard'll be a solid bat off the bench.
priceless. You know somewhere there is a fan from another team wanting to trade a used jock strap for Crede and their fans think the Sox would go for it.

Close won't be enough.
Do you realize what we're up against concerning Minnesota and Detroit? Their pitching rotations may actually be BETTER in coming years with upcoming prospects.
We can't stand pat. Garcia's ass needs to go. There's one point. Others discussed within the article, ideally SS, LF, need to be addressed. Righthanded bat off the bench who could patrol all OF positions will be sought. These options are not exampling of a huge overhaul by any means, but more than a simple touchup is needed.
You make it sound like we're Kansas City or the Cubs. Most every objective rating has this very team in the top 6 in MLB. A change of 3 or 4 wins would be a huge difference today in our playoff chances.
A couple people taking someone out to dinner and telling them that they need help doesn't require a professional. An all out assault, getting in their face, tough love, etc. needs a professional. Depends on how severe the problem is.
History is always being rewritten as new information becomes available, there are always multiple points of view. Each part should be looked at within a specific context of when it was produced and by whom. Sorry Bill, the right wingers get to write some history also.
