  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) I don't get it Tex. What do you see as wrong with this? Apple is protecting its proprietary software from various types of theft. I would expect any software company (or software division) to do the same. Their code is their lifeblood, and Apple OS is not open-source, right? So what bothers you about this? I'm not bothered at all. I find it kind of funny, that the computer of the creative, free thinking set, zealously protects it's intellectual rights with the frenzy zeal of Homeland Security. Plus they are shutting down the people talking about it, not the sites where it is done. Shhhh, they may shut us down next, for talking about it. Plus, who can resist a chance to jab Mac users, they get in that Mac frenzy that is so much fun to watch.
  2. QUOTE(samclemens @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) were you paid to plug this site? No, should I've been?
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) I wish there was an option for "I hope not." QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) As do I. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) ^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^ I rarely cheer against anything is sports, but that Baroid is one of them. It will be a sad day if he does.

  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 11:40 AM) We have border patrol agents all over the Mexican border too. And I bet that in 2001, there were a few security personnel at Logan airport. There is a difference with a port. They are inspecting cargo, matching manifests, etc. Far different than patrolling a remote desert locations trying to find something hidden, *and* able to think.
  7. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) Just like I still believe there were WMD in Iraq, poised and ready. BTW, it will still have US Customs agents all over the place.

  10. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) You mean you thought that far ahead? I'm impressed. Yes, I did. You know us Dems, always thinking . . .
  11. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) just like the k.k.k. and the NRA, and Green Peace, and a few others.
  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) Hey jerk, why do *I* have to be stirring counter-clockwise? I figured a smart guy like you would see the obvious, I was thinking you would be stirring down on the left and up on the right . . . You have to admit, that was damn fine thinking.
  13. George Washington Trivia Time As a farmer, he grew marijuana and was America's only Founding Father to free his slaves. On the night he died, his doctor friend tried to bring him back to life in a most bizarre manner. As a politician, he was the only president-elect to win a unanimous vote of the Electoral College. Learn more lesser-known facts about our very first president, George Washington. http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/thepresident...theman.htm?nl=1
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) If you're into that kinda thing... Wow this thread has really gone to carp. No wonder I've decided to join in I didn't know we had bottom feeder night at the old ballpark Where's Heads? I'll bet he's caught a few carp . . .
  15. Do you know what you call a guy that hangs out with musicians? A drummer
  16. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 08:45 AM) In case people hadn't noticed, Kap has differing opinions then Bob. Kap likes to stir the pot. And while you are trying to stir counter-clockwise, Tex is stirring clockwise
  17. Wow. I think kids that learn early are less incumbered by the "correct way to play" and are free to really explore and do some amazing things. I was just thinking drum solos seem so 1970s. What happened to the drum?
  18. New topic, it varies by location and office, but making the ballot as an independent is hard work, requiring a lot of volunteers. Even a "3rd Party" is difficult at best. Where should the line be drawn between a ballot with only John Q. Republican Jane A. Democrat and one with 174 candidates? Should it be money? signatures? an "independent board" to verify the candidate? some other? Open ballots?
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 07:21 AM) And you've just stereotyped me. Evidently you don't read close enough. Everyone likes to think they are in Independent, and if we truly had a pile for Independents, it would make for an interesting party. However, *If* I had to place *Kapkomet* in a Dem or GOP pile, Kap would have to go in the GOP pile, just like *Texsox* be in the Dem pile. I would probably sort Bob and Jim differently. Shall we take a poll and see what everyone else thinks? I don't believe it is a stereotype, it as an opinion based on reading almost every one of Kapkomet's posts in SL&P and Filibuster. Believe it or don't, I do read your posts and try and understand and appreciate your views. Do I have to remind people just reading posts is rarely an accurate gauge on someone's real personality? Some people are gifted as great writers, some are better oraly, still others have to be seen to believe. I find it interesting that I could have many pleasant conversations with the now ex-head of the Republican Party in Hidalgo County, without the righteous indignation that follows some discussions here. We'd laugh at each party and the silly crap they try and sell to the American public. I never felt the urge to defend every little thing that a Dem did, as I sometimes do here. So real life is much different than soxtalk life. Just look at the Texas Governor's Race. I'm still backing Perry for re-election, a GOPerhead. Last I recall, you still hadn't found a candidate. I'm guessing when it is all said and done, you'll be backing Strayhorn in her Independent bid.
  20. 50! Maybe I'll throw on a wet suit and go surfing. A north wind usually has the waves pilling up on the jetties.

  22. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) First of all, it kills me when someone thinks that we're "republicans" simply because we defend Bush from the absurdity. Second of all, if Indiana is so popular "Republican"... why did Bayh win LANDSLIDE elections as governor and senator? He will deliver Indiana to the Democrats if he runs, because he's very popular in Indiana, like it or not. I also think that is one major reason why Bayh will have a hard time winning. He's from Indiana, and the electoral doesn't matter... therefore, he's not "important" because he won't pull in electoral votes. We think you are Republican because your opinions fall in line with GOP doctrine. Press, Judges, Iraq, Capital Punishment, Cheney, Dubya, National Debt, etc. But we like you anyway, despite your shortfalls Perhaps they can find a candidate from the electoral juggernaut, Arkansas to run
  23. I love it when our Constitutionaly protected rights collide with common sense.
  24. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) Had we been focused on transforming that Cold War force instead of gutting it we'd be in far better shape to handle whats on our plate now. The mistake there was when Congress and the American people, were sold on a Peace Dividend. The plan was, we could increase the military to win the cold war, then decrease with all the savings after the Evil Empire was brought down. It sounded great coming from the Great Communicator, but was lost in translation when Bush I and Clinton actually started to impliment the plan. There has to be a balance between unchecked military spending and an effective standing military to protect us. It is interesting when we receive s***ty service from some government clerk, we never blame the President for budgetary issues, but military moral seems to be tied to the President and the benefits and working conditions. I still believe we can't pay our front line Troops nearly enough for what they do. In some ways, I think we have the pay inversed. The highest pay should be for the 18 year old kid who is sent into harms way and then it decreases as you move further away from the "theater" until some old guy in Washington shuffeling papers and admiring his ribbons earns $18,000 per year.
