QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 07:08 AM) Weiss Holy Grail or Life Of Brian? 1980 - Life of Brian Today - Holy Grail I've become a bit more sensitive to some subjects getting satired. Family Guy or Simpsons
  2. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Uhm, yeah. Scanlan, Abramoff, and now Rudy pleading guilty to conspiracy/corruption, and basically putting DeLay's leadership offices at the center of a criminal enterprise has me wondering just what you see in this great American. The influence peddling for kickbacks scandal in the Northern Marianas Islands is going to bust wide open, and Delay is right ther ein the middle of it. Maybe I was wrong about him? I so wanted to see him kick some commie, terrorist butt. Like Reagan . . .

  5. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I'm keeping it in the garage, and I still have my Chevy Malibu. (High School graduation present) Not really a "beater," but it'll get the job done. Great. And sorry if it sounded like a lecture. I didn't mean it to be.
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) Well the mothly payments are about what I make in a week, and I don't really spend much money on anything else. I plan on using the other checks towards my savings and checking account because I use a direct deposit system to pay off my car. The job I currently have is for one year, but I have a strong feeling I can get something with them after. Because of this I didn't want to buy a house. My parents made me save my money for college while growing up and told me when I finished, I could used the leftovers for whatever I wanted. As for the car, it's a 2002 automatic. (never tried stick, Plus how and I suppose to talk on my phone, change the radio, or drink my scalding hot McDonald's coffee with a stick?) I didn't mean to get personal, and wasn't implying it necessarily was the situation you are in. I just wished I had listened when I was 23 to my parents and a financial advisor and earned interest instead of paid interest. By the time I was thirty I had a mountain of debt and a ton of toys that owned me. BTW, very nice car. Enjoy it. Do you have a beater for the CHicago winters? A buddy of mine from HS managed to drive some awesome vehicles for a couple years and sell them for damn near what he paid for them. He also parked them under a cover in his garage during the winter.
  7. It's a sad, sad day, when a great American like the Hammer has to leave with his tail between his legs. I guess it's on to the McCain bandwagon for me.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) All I'm saying is - you're playing with fire if you ride a motorcycle. He didn't mess up, it wasn't his fault, a semi passed him going at a pretty high rate of speed and twisted him clean off the bike. And now he doesn't have a leg. It's really sad for me, because I know this guy. You are correct, there are risks. Some people have a higher tolerance to risk than others. Climbing mountains, SCUBA diving, solo exploring, drinking and driving, not exercising, bungee jumping, being in the Army, etc all are in that risk/reward ratio. This seems like a freaky accident, I've passed and been passed by a lot of trucks and never was even close to losing control. I'm not saying that it doesn't and didn't happen, but if motorcycles were that dangerous, there would be a standard disclaimer and disqualification on all life insurance and medical policies. I know that if I hurt myself skydiving or SCUBA my insurance will not cover me. So I don't skydive, well that and I think anyone who jumps out of a perfectly good airplance is out of their minds. Prayers to your friend. I hope he has a good attitude and rebuilds his life to the fullest.
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Here's my first car I purchased on my own. Not too shabby for being 3 months out of school. B) Not getting personal, and none of my business, and just a general comment, debt is a tough thing. Building a nest egg will bring you a lot more happiness.

They are not as safe as some cars. How many people here are driving one of the safest cars? http://cars.about.com/od/helpforcarbuyers/...opten_crash.htm

How can you die if you never lived? Backpacking? Bears, rattlesnakes, falls, cell phones don't work. Surfing? sharks, drowning, (actually the board wacking you is the #1 source of injuries) Off shore fishing? boat sinks etc. Airplanes? Hunting? Well ask Cheney what can go wrong there. Kite Surfing? It's all relative. I've driven probably 75,000 miles on two wheels and not even a scratch. I will bet more people die sooner from eating at McDonalds (generic term for being 20-30 pounds overweight or more) not exercising, and being too stressed out than a motorcycle. But I'll bet that sometime this month everone here will find themselves with a fast food meal. BTW, I always wear a helmet, but I've read studies that having a 10 pound object on your head may cause more neck and spinal damage than not wearing one.
  12. QUOTE(Timoperezrulez @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) It would help if I had some help from a mod or something. The only thing I could think of is have people check their own and at the end of the contest check who ever claims to be the winner. To me it seems like a gigantic season long head ache. How about this variation. Start one now, everyone has to play every game beginning tomorrow. Last person standing wins. In other words if 25 people start the contest Tuesday take the ones that advance and move on with them. As soon as it gets to one player, start another contest.

  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) Then, by God, TEACH the students the proper way to display the flag. TEACH them the proper use of the flag. TEACH people. That's your job. Banning the flag of the United States of America is a hideous response. The guy should be fired. BTW, I will be burning some US flags this summer at camp. If anyone has any worn out flags they wish to have properly retired, pm me and I will give you my address. I am always looking for cotton flags, they make for a much hotter fire so that the nylon will burn better.

  18. From Soxtalk through the ages, QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) The phrase "through the ages" made me laugh. Ahhhh, I remember when Soxtalk was etched on a wall, and posters would walk up to the wall and etch their messages into it. Of course, ss2k5bc had the most etchings on the wall. "Mike, don't you have dinner to hunt for your family? Why are you always at the wall??"

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) That could prove to be a costly decision if they choose to stop funding locales that don't enforce the federal laws. I wonder how much it would cost to enforce the law? Checking at every employer on a regular basis?

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) Maybe a reason that line is sometimes true is because the Americans who could DO that work are getting money from the government for NOT doing that work. Much better to collect welfare, unemployment, food stamps, whatever, than to work those jobs. If the illegal problem were to be severly curtailed, yes, some prices would go up. But so would the money they would have to pay laborers. Start cutting some aid for able-bodied folk who CAn work, and they may just do that. if a family of 8 illegals can make a living doing that work, while still sending money to Mexico, why can't a poor white or black family do it? maybe because that would mean giving up the cable tv and the cell phones. (sigh) I'm all for busting the ass of any employer that knowingly hires illegals. I am for building a huge ass wall and defending that wall on both our southern and northern borders. Without borders, we cease to be a nation. I am for a guest worker program of some sort, but have no specifics in mind. I am for denying birthright citizenship, and for making English the official language of the government, so that all transaction have to be done in english. And, i also believe that I am ready for the baseball season to begin already! When the debate was on over raising the minimum wage, many conservatives said rising wages would kill the economic momentum that Bush got started. I'm wondering now which is accurate. Are higher wages going to help or hurt from a conservative point of view? Remember the poor employer that wouldn't have any money to expand his business and would have to hire less people to do the work if wages went up. There are some transactions at the border that should be handled in any language, but most should be in English only. Plus, it helps those individuals who are bilingual to charge a bunch of money for filing out government forms for people who can't read and write in English.
  21. What is your position in spending the money on bombs, human lives, bullets, etc.? I assume then you would be against the war in Iraq.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) All that report really says is that low income people use more services and since a lot of undocumented workers are low income, that they have to use the services. I wonder if this study accounts for the higher average pay that undocumented workers would get if they had legitimate papers to stay in the U.S. My guess is that it would be much higher. Excellent point.
