Hillary could win presidency in '08
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) Or he just campaigned for the guy that was way closer to his personal belief system. Its just like Howard Dean, Joe Lieberman, and the others campaigning for Kerry. Or he was rehearsing for '08

Cub Era Dead?
As much as I appreciated the Cub's 2003 Steve Bartman ending and the 2004 final weekend ending, it will be nice to not worry about the Cubs actually winning anything for the next 5 or 6 years. I see a rebuilding in their future.

Former Sox Pitcher Jon Rauch Injured
right side, I hope he's got an automatic transmission as he drives out of DC. In 2000 we were the envy of every organization with our pitching prospects and Jon headed the class. Amazing that these guys aren't doing more.

Former Sox Player D. Jimenez
QUOTE(Sox1422 @ May 25, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Koch Parque (Olestra) Ritchie I thought that Koch was one standup guy. He lost whatever it was that made him great for a season, never made excuses, never ducked from responsibility. I like the guy and wish him luck.

Not real encouraging Frank numbers...
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 28, 2005 -> 03:33 AM) Oh hell. If Frank comes up and goes 0-4 in his first game, 70% of the posters will be screaming for him to be sent back down. 10% will blame KW for it. 10% will blame Ozzie. 5% will b**** because we cut Timo. And they say math skills suck in Kentucky

May Quotes of the Month.
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 26, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) Until MLB adopts a BCS system for who makes the playoffs, I wouldn't concern myself with where we are in the power rankings. could I add Mariotti to that list??

Hillary could win presidency in '08
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 28, 2005 -> 12:41 AM) And Hillary essentially hand picking her seat in New York isn't politics?? Hillary and her husband were being evicted from their home. They had to move somewhere. As for being polled, or not, does everyone of those 100 talk to telephone solicitors? The pollsters will not come out and say "this is Betty from the McCain campaign and we want to ask you a couple questions for a poll regarding whose will win the Presidency in 2008". Instead my most recent one went along the lines of "this is not a solicitation call, we just want to ask you a couple questions regarding Abortion." (Most people don't allow the conversation to move beyond that). The questions were how important is abortion rights in my choice of candidates, would I be willing to support a pro-choice candidate, etc. I am fairly certain a candidate was exploring a state wide bid. My intuition tells me it was Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn for Governor but of course the pollsters are not allowed to reveal who is paying for the poll.

Hillary could win presidency in '08
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) How come I've never been polled before. Noone in my family or in my neighborhood have ever been polled. The day I get polled is the day I believe one of these polls. Are you a registered voter? I have been polled at least half a dozen times in both Illinois and Texas.

Hillary could win presidency in '08
QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 27, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) You will not. Just like all those f***ing movie actors. They all ran for Canada, not. If Hillary becomes president, I'll support her. I sure as hell won't be as poisoness as the left is toward GWB now. I also think that she's about as non-bulls*** as it gets - she'll defend the country - there's no doubt about that. I won't agree with her policy, but she's an American just like the rest of us (for the most part) on this board. What do you bet that the press would dig up a first gentleman sex scandal before her term was up?? I agree with you Kap. I would add she would be a centralist like the previous Dem President, perhaps even a little right of William Jefferson. However, I still believe that the best chance for a female would be on a GOP ticket. The GOPerheads would vote for her because she isn't a Dem and the Dem's would vote for a female just to prove their liberalism. I'm holding out for McCain. Of everyone on the landscape, McCain would be my pick. If he selected Joe Lieberman as a running mate, I'd be going door to door to get that ticket elected.
- Yikes.. this guy is creepy looking.

Carlton Fisk and the White Sox
I think if Fisk went in as an outfielder (nice move Hawk) it should have been as a White Sox, I have no problem with what cap he's wearing on a plaque in the HoF.

Record Catfish Caught in Alton, IL
QUOTE(Y2HH @ May 25, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) There are HUGE catfish there. I go to LBL (Land Between the Lakes all the time), as a matter of fact, I'm going there the week of June 1st - 5th for some camping/fishing! I fished a few tournaments there. Long drive for me, but that area is so nice. We usually had an early season tournament there to try and catch a little warmer weather.

What the hell dd I do?
What is making this fun is in the past my businesses have all revolved around manufacturing and representing companies. First it was primarily US based, then Mexico, then I was doing overseas purchasing offices in countries whose names I couldn't spell. A friend of mine jumped off that treadmill and started a lawn care business. A Canadian in South Texas, moving lawns I've been watching him for a couple years and he is so damn happy. The other part is my son is old enough and has a few skills that he can add and my wife is interested in helping with a few things. In the past there was really nothing they could do. So my transition to Texan is almost complete. Western boots (steel toed), 3/4 ton V10 Dodge pickup, and a big payroll. Hell, I'm 9/10 of the way to becoming a GOP-erhead If I didn't look so stupid in a western hat, I'd have to pick one up.

What the hell dd I do?
Did you ever do something big, then have that what the hell did I do feeling? I bought a business, totally different than anything I've done in the previous 35 years of working. I am convinced the service industry is the place to be, and bought a power wash company. I've had other businesses, but for some reason this one has me much more tense than past ventures. I started out consulting for the owner and wound up buying the place. My To-Do list is about 100 lines deep, I'm going to be working 7 days a week for a while (again), and am starting to get that good to be alive feeling.

sirius radio
QUOTE(winodj @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Wow! Did they run out of music to play already? LOL That was a fine tune, and it got me arrested once. Seems I played it a little too loud, a little too late at night, at a bar I was a DJ at. I swear the crowd was louder than the sound system. I was warned at 11:15 pm if they received another complaint I would be arrested. At closing time, I thought I'll play it once more. Did I mention the DJ gets free drinks? That may have clouded my judgement. You know who your friends are at 3:30 am needing $100 and a ride back to the bar.

Irresponsible Journalism
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) Haha. Number One is the she, and her 5-year old brother is the he. And the big news there is that I think today is the day he gets off of his training wheels!! With the strong academic genes, I assumed the 5 year old was graduating 1st Grade MrEye, Some people here are more willing to accept that the US isn't perfect, makes mistakes, and is viewed with disgust and fear in many corners of the world. I would also agree that some people here have some sympathy for the oppressed people of many societies and their methods to free themselves from that oppression. I believe characterizing them as happy isn't fair. Speaking for myself, I believe we should hold ourselves to the highest ethical and moral standards. I am outraged when we trample on other societies and their way of live and make assumptions that every person in the world wants to live like Americans.

Irresponsible Journalism
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) Seems we were posting similar thoughts at the same time. Heck knows I'd rather see an hour of feelgood news most nights, compared to what I usually see. But, the world being what it is, the local headlines here yesterday were about the 8-year old girl raped and left in a landfill to die by her attacker (she was found alive thankfully) and not about Brian Hill's return to the Magic, the big theater festival opening this week, or my kid graduating from first grade today. That's the way the news works. Congrats on the graduation. Seems like just yesterday he was teething

Uribe's "foul call"
From chisox.com Count on it. At least his going to get on base at least once in the series. I suspect it will be YNOT question.
